Growth Rate Skill Maximizer – Chapter 408

Chapter 381: Designated Request

“Even so, you truly are impressive, Lord Shu, as expected of an S Rank Adventurer.”

Perhaps realizing he had leaned in too eagerly, Mr. Miles took a step back, surveying the private property that consisted only of walls and an entrance. By the way, the surveillance here is being handled by a small Insect TYPE, so even though it’s perched on the wall, it won’t be noticed.

“Is that so?”

I tilted my head, unsure of what exactly was so impressive. In fact, I thought Mr. Miles himself was the remarkable one for coming all this way without any information.

“In just under a month, you’ve managed to construct walls and an entrance that seem to stretch endlessly, haven’t you?”

Ah, I see. Although it actually took less than an hour, I suppose it would typically take that long.

“Well, there are only walls and a gate for now.”

Shrugging, I opened the gate to show him inside. I called out to the escorting adventurers, inviting them to take a look, and they cautiously peeked inside.

“Uh, there’s nothing here.”
“Where did this guy come from?”

I could hear their whispers, but I chose to ignore them.

“Hmm… Is Lord Shu’s base beyond this point?”

“Yes, it exists somewhere. It’s still under construction, though.”

“I see. With such a vast area, it must be quite a task…”

I conveyed this vaguely, and perhaps satisfied with my answer, he didn’t press further. I had thought that having the TYPE Series for surveillance would make everything perfect, but it turned out to be more complicated than I expected. I still had to greet visitors myself, and here I was, talking in an empty outdoor space. At the very least, I could only notice the minimum number of visitors.

I couldn’t invite anyone through the Dimensional Rift to my base, so it seemed I had no choice but to build a Reception Hall. Alternatively, I could stop the surveillance altogether.

“Now, about that request for a whole Giant Fish, is that meant for us?”

I still had plenty of stock in the time-stopped Dimensional Box, but it had been about a month since we fished in Soleige Bay. Since I hadn’t particularly advertised the time-stopping feature, it wouldn’t be reasonable for anyone to assume I had stock available.

“Ah, indeed! The fish I procured from you, Lord Shu, sold surprisingly well, so I thought this was a golden opportunity to seize!”

“In that case, you could have just submitted a designated request to the Guild.”

“Ha ha! I already did that!”

“Oh, I see.”

I nodded in understanding at Mr. Miles’s hearty laughter. It seemed he had grown impatient with our infrequent visits to the Guild. If he didn’t want to miss the opportunity right after selling his products, it was better to act quickly.

“Well, if that’s the case, I don’t mind.”

To be honest, I was starting to get a bit bored with all the building work lately. For a while, I could have the servants handle the interior arrangements, and I could even ask Mr. Miles to take care of some of those interior details.

“Oh, that would be wonderful! It feels like my efforts in coming this far have paid off!”

“So, should I just hand over the one you caught?”

“Yes, the disassembly will be handled by the people we hired, so I would appreciate it if you could take it to the harbor.”

“Understood.”

“That’s all there is to it. I look forward to the delivery date.”

With that, Mr. Miles turned to leave, taking his escorting adventurers with him.

“That old man is quite the go-getter.”

I observed my surroundings again, slightly impressed. All that was here was a barren land with walls and an iron gate. The surveillance TYPE Series was up on the wall, but I didn’t need to include that in my thoughts.

Looking around, it was indeed a spacious area, and there might be various ways to utilize it.

I could release some of the stock for the Giant Fish, but I still preferred to provide freshly caught ones. I thought about heading out to fish right away, but then I realized it would be pointless to procure them before Mr. Miles reached the town.

It would take about four days by carriage to get from here to Isolage. Until then, it might be best to focus on what I could do here.

“Well then, I guess I’ll head back.”

I Teleported directly to the living room on the second floor of my house.

“Welcome back! How was it?”

Everyone had gathered in the spacious living room, which exceeded thirty tatami mats, and Rio was the first to notice me and called out.

“Ah—”

As I explained the request for a whole Giant Fish, each of them reacted in their own way.

“We need to catch a really big fish then!”

“Are you serious? That old man…”

“Fish is delicious, after all!”

“Hehe, then shall we sell some delicious recipes while we’re at it?”

I wasn’t sure how much money Mr. Miles could offer at once, but Rio and El seemed eager to squeeze every coin out of him. However, I wondered if there would even be a place at the harbor to sell something that large.

“By the way, about the entrance to the property—”

When I consulted them about whether to build the Reception Hall or just ignore it altogether, they immediately responded in favor of building it.

“The servants are motivated, and we need to keep the economy flowing.”

That was their reasoning. I had already known this without needing to consult them, but I just hadn’t felt like doing it lately due to the continuous construction. However, it wouldn’t do to neglect what needed to be done, so I would take care of it properly.

“Alright then, until we deliver the fish to Mr. Miles, let’s build the Reception Hall.”

“Haha, I can’t help at all, so all I can say is good luck!”

“Me too…”

Ivan and Phonia looked apologetic, but they were suited for their roles. Ivan couldn’t use magic at all, and while Phonia could use Earth Magic, it wasn’t to the extent that it would be useful for construction. El would be more helpful in her role as a secretary than in building.

“Well, as long as you can keep watch here, that’s fine. I don’t think there are any dangerous monsters around, but there could always be a chance.”

Since Rio and I would be away for the construction of the Reception Hall, I decided to build walls around the area just in case. I couldn’t afford to neglect our defenses.

“Ah, if a strong enemy shows up, I’ll call for you, but you can leave the time-buying to me.”

“Then I’ll leave it to you.”
