Episode 421: Epilogue
The next morning, a large group of knights arrived in the city, and the day after that, the large fleet that had been anchored offshore entered the harbor one after another. Of course, all as spoils of war.
The townspeople were only told that pirates from across the sea had been defeated. The fact that the ships were large and numerous for mere pirates was a mystery, and that was the main topic of gossip.
The fishing ban was lifted the following day, and peace finally returned to the city.
“Thank you very much!”
Samuel, who came from the island, was selling Takoyaki at a street stall in the harbor.
I had received various information from him, and after that, he didn’t join the large fleet, severed ties with the country, and continued to live in the city. He seemed to be very impressed with the octopus I gave him.
Normally, he would be detained as a prisoner, but he was scouted as a member of our merchant guild.
“It’s best to have it made by someone from the source.”
“It’s fun to see them turning around and around!”
Phonia was stuffing Takoyaki into her cheeks, looking at the Takoyaki being grilled in front of her with great interest.
“Then, shall we try making some next time?”
“Eh, really!?”
It was a light suggestion, but it seemed to stimulate Phonia’s interest. She turned around with her eyes sparkling with excitement.
“Shu-san, if you’re going to make Takoyaki, would you like to borrow my plate?”
Samuel, who had been listening to the conversation, pointed to the plate, but I didn’t want to interfere with his business.
“No, I’ll prepare the plate here, so it’s okay.”
“Is that so? Shu-san is the benefactor of Takoyaki, so please tell me if there’s anything I can do.”
“What’s a Takoyaki benefactor?”
I smiled wryly at Ivan, who muttered in a small voice, and decided in my heart to make a large plate for a Takoyaki party. It seemed like I could make it right away with Earth Magic.
“Ah, please do so then. See you later.”
“This is the Presence Concealing Magic Tool.”
A week later, Mesaria-san, who had been negotiating the sale of the spoils of war, came to my house to deliver the item she was looking for. On the living room table were two thirty-centimeter square boxes with large Magic Stones embedded in them.
“Thank you. You can do whatever you want with the other one at the Information Guild.”
“Understood.”
I’ll store one in the Dimensional Box and think about how to use it. If I can analyze it and make a replica, I might distribute it to the Information Guilds in various places.
“And here are the sales from the prisoners and the Large Ships.”
What she took out of the Storage Bag in addition were many large bags that made a rattling sound. It seemed that the country didn’t have much cash on hand, so it was paid in installments, but that couldn’t be helped.
“You can use that for the Information Guild’s operating funds.”
“Is that alright?”
“Yeah. I can’t think of any way to use that much money.”
I’m paying the servants in the house, but for now, I have enough money on hand.
“Thank you very much!”
Mesaria-san gave me a very nice smile when I handed her the full amount. I wonder if she doesn’t have enough funds. I instructed her to steal Japanese products and sell them at the merchant guild, but it wouldn’t be up and running so quickly. Well, I’ll just ignore it until she directly tells me she’s short on funds.
“Alright, I guess all the troublesome things are settled.”
“Maybe?”
Rio tilted her head next to me, but was there anything else?
“…Are your classmates okay?”
Ivan brought up something I was trying not to think about, and a frown appeared between my eyebrows.
“Isn’t it fine? It’s a shame we can’t explore the island anymore, though.”
“That’s true. It might be okay to leave them alone.”
It’s not impossible to explore the island, but it’s foolish to bother being careful not to be found. Besides, if you look for it, there might be other islands. I think I talked about that before.
“Come to think of it, there was another large continent, wasn’t there?”
“Yes, there is. I think ships were leaving from the Empire to the south. It is said that there is one to the west as well, but the information network is thin there, so I can’t say for sure.”
“We were talking about that when we were looking for Kaede-san.”
Rio nodded, but was it that long ago?
“Then, shall we go to the New Continent next time?”
“Let’s do that. The New Continent seems more interesting than the island.”
At least it’s large in area, so I think there will be various things.
“How are we going to get to the New Continent?”
Ivan asked how to get there since the next destination was decided. When we went to the Eastern Island, Rio and I flew ahead, but ships were leaving for the Southern Continent.
“This time, shall we take a leisurely ship?”
“That’s nice. It might be my first time on a ship.”
“Come to think of it, that’s true.”
“Is that the big one in the harbor?”
Phonia was excited when she saw the captured Large Ship, and her eyes are still shining when she hears about ships.
“That’s right. I don’t know if it’s as big as that, but let’s take a ship next time.”
“Okay!”
She’s happy, wiggling her ears and wagging her tail. When I was patting her head and fluffing her up, Nil came over wanting to be petted too, so I fluffed him up.
“Understood. We only have an information network on this continent, so we will proceed with preparations.”
“Huh? Ah, yeah. Please?”
Mesaria-san declared with a serious expression that seemed to hold some kind of determination, so I didn’t understand, but I asked her for the time being.
“I hope there’s something delicious.”
“I hope so.”
“If there are new materials and ingredients, it will be a source of business.”
“Ah, yeah, I hope so.”
I thought I’d think a little bit about the Information Guild’s funds in response to Mesaria-san’s words.
