Chapter 79: Let’s Release the Materials
“Hey, Grandpa!”
The one raising their voice to the seemingly unapproachable workshop owner was none other than the person who had brought them here.
“This isn’t the time to be stubborn! It’s already hard enough to secure materials, so why not just take on the job!”
A heated argument seemed to be ongoing, but when it was mentioned that the materials weren’t anything special… well, I could see how one might agree with that. Since we had been hunting and gathering these materials regularly, they didn’t feel particularly rare to us. However, since they were sourced from the Forest of Enchantment, what might seem trivial to us could very well be significant to the average person. Among them were even some materials that my master had kept in storage.
Still, if he only dealt with high-quality materials, it seemed unlikely that many jobs would come his way. I wondered what he meant by “hard to secure.” Well, I suppose it wasn’t really my place to pry into others’ business.
“Now, now, please calm down. For the time being, could you take a look at the materials I have?”
While I was pondering with my hand on my chin, Rio was soothing the two of them. Right now, I wasn’t in my combat gear, and at first glance, I probably looked like just another fledgling adventurer. Surely it couldn’t just be because I was short.
Shaking off my thoughts, I focused on the materials.
“The main thing I want made is a bed. I’d also like a table and chairs, and a sofa as well.”
As I listed my requests, I began pulling materials from the Dimensional Box one after another. I had mentioned a lot, but I wondered if everything would fit in our camping gear. It seemed I would need to seriously consider expanding it.
“Hmph… huh? …What, is this…!?”
The workshop owner had been scoffing at the materials I laid out, but his expression gradually turned serious.
“This… this is Red Bull Leather, and Silk Spider Silk… and Bloody Bear Fur, along with Gel Slime and… Moko Moko Sheep Wool!?”
Moko Moko Sheep!? Was there such a monster…? Wait, there really is. When I appraised it, it showed up as “Moko Moko Sheep Wool.” So there really is a monster by that name. I didn’t recognize it, so it must have been part of my master’s legacy. Though he wasn’t dead. It looked incredibly fluffy, and I thought it would make a nice blanket, so I brought it out…
“Where did you get this!?”
He leaned over the counter, reaching out his hand, but unfortunately, he missed and ended up grasping at air.
“Grandpa! Please calm down!”
As I spoke, I presented a young boy in front of the old man, who immediately clung to his grandfather’s face.
“Whoa!”
“Oh, Grandpa, calm down!”
With slightly slurred words, the boy patted the back of the old man’s head. It was such a heartwarming sight.
“Ah, my apologies, Clay. I’m calm now… and I must apologize to our guest as well.”
Straightening himself up, he faced us at the Beldran Workshop once more.
“I am Beldran, the workshop owner. This here is my granddaughter, Sariana. And this is my great-grandson, Clay.”
With Beldran’s introduction, Sariana bowed her head again, and Clay flashed a big smile. He certainly didn’t look like he could have a great-grandson, but this Otherworld was truly amazing.
“He’s so cute!”
“Hehe.”
As we introduced ourselves, I noticed that Rio was completely smitten with Clay. She was gently patting his head, lost in her own little world.
“So, you want to use these materials to make various items?” Beldran asked.
“Yes, that’s right.”
Beldran examined the materials again.
“Hmm…”
He was pondering deeply, but I wondered what was on his mind… Since they had been stored in the Dimensional Box, they shouldn’t have spoiled… No, wait, I had kept the material types in a time-stopping Dimensional Box, so they should be fine.
“You’re no ordinary kid, are you…? Very well, if you’ve brought out this much material, I suppose I have no choice.”
“You’re so stubborn. Thank you for being willing to work with all these materials.”
Sariana expressed her gratitude, albeit with a hint of exasperation.
“Oh, it’s so squishy!”
Clay’s eyes sparkled as he poked at the Gel Slime. When he pressed his palm against it, it left an imprint and slowly returned to its original shape. This low-rebound quality would make for an excellent mattress.
“Haha, it’s so fun!”
I never expected Rio to be this fond of children. But seeing her play with Clay was incredibly cute.
“Is the wood from the Heavenly Wolf Forest okay? With this much material, we could use other types of wood, but…”
“No, please use the wood from here. While there are Elder Treants available, the scent of the wood from the Heavenly Wolf Forest is the best.”
“Elder Treant, you say…? What an extraordinary kid.”
“I’m not in a hurry, so I hope you can make the best quality items possible.”
“Of course. Who do you think you’re talking to? If I can’t create something top-notch with this much material, then I should just retire.”
With a dry laugh, I spoke to Beldran, who responded with a sharp gaze and stern words. With that level of commitment, I felt I could trust him to handle this.
“I’ll take care of the leather and fur products.”
“Is that so? Thank you very much.”
We began discussing the details with everyone at the Beldran Workshop. We decided to go all out and focus on quality. I ended up adding various requests, including pillows and other small items, but they assured me that everything would be ready in about two weeks.
And so, we left the Beldran Workshop, our spirits high.
