Growth Rate Skill Maximizer – Chapter 94

Chapter 91: Off to Deliver with My Tamed Monster

Before I knew it, it was already past noon. I decided to start by registering my tamed monster.

“Now then, what name should we register it under?”

The Guild Master was personally handling the registration process, likely because it was for Frozevitnir. Still, a name… It would be inconvenient without one, I thought.

“Do you have any good names in mind?”

“Hmm. Since it’s going to be your master, Shuu should probably name it.”

I asked Rio, but she dismissed the idea outright. I couldn’t help but agree with her to some extent. But a name… Looking closely, I noticed the fluffy white fur shimmered with a rainbow hue in the light.

“Rainbow… doesn’t quite fit.”

As I petted its head and stroked its neck, it seemed to enjoy it, narrowing its eyes in bliss.

“Alright, how about we take the species name and call it ‘Nil’?”

“Woof!”

It was a simple choice, but sometimes simplicity is best when you’re stuck for ideas. Besides, it didn’t seem to mind.

“Got it. I’ll register it as ‘Nil’ then.”

After paying the registration fee of one thousand Fron, the process was complete. A tag was affixed to Nil’s collar as a mark of its status as a tamed monster. Now I could proudly walk through the streets with it by my side.

“The size will automatically adjust thanks to the magic tool. Just be careful; reissuing it will cost twenty thousand Fron.”

With the registration finished, it was time to fill our stomachs. After enjoying lunch at the tavern attached to the Guild, we moved on to the transfer of the Silver Wolf. By the way, Nil had been devouring the food that came out—quite a lot of it, in fact. Securing enough food for it was going to be a challenge. I could feel Nil’s enthusiasm radiating as it kept expressing, “Delicious!”

Rio pulled out a four-meter-long Silver Wolf from the Dimensional Box, claiming it was a substitute for the Heavenly Wolf Fang, and sold it to the Guild. Of course, she exaggeratedly announced that this massive wolf had appeared in the Forest.

“With this, I think the commotion has settled down.”

“Indeed… But are we really allowed to keep this Silver Wolf?”

Once things calmed down, Wyatt hesitantly asked for confirmation.

“If they’re giving it to us, I don’t see why not.”

“With a size like this, it must be worth quite a bit…?”

It seemed we had a mix of members who were hesitant and those who thought we should take what we could get.

“Just to avoid any potential trouble, we’re also considering this as a thank-you gift, so it’s perfectly fine.”

“We’re not exactly in dire need of money, so it’s alright.”

“Haha… If you have the ability to tame something like that, then sure. Well then, shall we be on our way?”

“Ah, yes. Thank you for everything.”

“No, no, we were the ones who benefited. We wouldn’t have been able to handle that on our own.”

I glanced at the now-small Frozevitnir, who merely shrugged.

“Take care.”

The members of the Heavenly Wolf Fang waved goodbye as they left.

“Now, let’s continue with Shu and Rio. I’d like to hear more details from you two.”

However, we weren’t free just yet. Once again, we were pulled into a private room by the Guild Master.

“Finally done…”

“That took a while…”

By the time evening approached, we were finally released. We had been asked many questions, but I kept the more sensitive information to myself. Naturally, I didn’t mention that we had destroyed the Royal Castle of the Arclight Kingdom. They were surprised to hear that we had lived in the Forest of Enchantment for a while, though. We also managed to gather some information about the monsters in this city and its surroundings, which was a plus. Plus, thanks to the Guild Master’s authority, our rank was raised to D. It seemed that those who had never taken on an escort request couldn’t be promoted to C, so D was the best we could do for now.

“First, let’s go report to Fleur.”

As we left the Guild, we headed towards the Rashiyu Trading Company. With Nil by my side, I felt the gazes of the townsfolk on us more than usual. It seemed that adventurers with tamed monsters were quite rare in this country, as I hadn’t seen many even in the towns we passed through before.

“Hello! Is Fleur here?”

Upon arriving at the trading company, I called out to the clerk who was manning the counter.

“Yes…!?”

The clerk responded and looked up, but upon seeing Nil, she took a step back in surprise.

“…I apologize. May I ask your name?”

“I’m Shu. I’ve come to deliver the lumber from the request.”

“Understood. Please wait a moment.”

The clerk quickly regained her composure, which was impressive for an employee of one of the Six Great Trading Companies.

“Everyone really is surprised, huh?”

“Yeah.”

“They’ll get used to it eventually.”

“No way. If we go to the next town, it’ll happen all over again.”

“Not that! I meant we’ll get used to everyone being surprised.”

“Oh, that kind of ‘used to it’!”

“Remember how everyone was shocked when we sold our catches at the Guild? But we got used to it, right?”

“Well, yeah, I guess that’s true.”

I had to admit, she had a point. I had grown accustomed to it myself. But perhaps that was just how it was.

“Thank you for waiting. Please follow me to the back warehouse.”

As we chatted about trivial matters, the clerk returned and led us behind the store. It seemed to be a warehouse, and I suddenly remembered that I had brought lumber. I had brought fifty meters of it, but there was no way a warehouse in the city would be that spacious… and yet, it was quite large.

“Fleur, I’ve brought the customers.”

It seemed we weren’t led to a place that couldn’t accommodate the delivery. The clerk called out to someone inside the warehouse.

“Thank you—!?”

When Fleur turned around, she had the same shocked reaction upon seeing Nil as the clerk had.
