Chapter 93: The Boy Who Manipulates Fluffiness
Upon hearing Sariana’s scream, Beldran hurried out, though he wasn’t as startled as one might expect.
“So, what brings you here today? …I’d like to ask, but I’m glad you came. I wanted to get in touch with you, but I hadn’t asked for your contact information.”
“Ah, now that you mention it, we didn’t tell you where we’re staying.”
“…No, no, it’s my fault for not confirming. However, the delivery of the lumber has been delayed, and it seems the completion of your order will be postponed.”
Sariana quickly recovered, looking apologetic, but we had actually come for that very reason. Since we were partly responsible for the delay, it wasn’t a problem at all.
“In that case, it’s no trouble at all. We just brought some lumber from Rashiyu Trading Company.”
“What!? Is that true?”
As Beldran leaned forward, he grabbed my shoulder and shook me vigorously.
“Ah, Grandpa!”
Realizing what was happening, Sariana shouted, and Clay pointed at Beldran from atop Nil, as if to say, “I know!” Nil, carrying Clay, approached Beldran, aligning their eye levels perfectly.
“Hey there, Grandpa!”
Beldran snapped back to reality at the sound of his great-grandson’s voice, lowering his hands and turning his gaze away sheepishly.
“I’ve done it again. My apologies…”
“No, no, it’s fine. So, where should we unload the lumber?”
“Right here is fine.”
“Understood.”
“Thank you! You’re a real lifesaver.”
“Thank you, big brother!”
I received words of gratitude from Sariana and her son. Clay was just too adorable, and I couldn’t help but pat his head.
As I pulled the lumber from the Dimensional Box, Beldran effortlessly hoisted it and carried it to the back of the shop. Sariana followed suit, taking her share to the back as well.
I was a bit surprised by how quickly they moved, but upon reflection, I realized Rio could lift something like this too.
“Ha ha ha! With this, I can finish on schedule. I’ll ensure it’s of the highest quality, so look forward to it!”
After exchanging those words, we left Beldran Workshop. By the way, Clay, who had been on Nil the whole time, had somehow fallen asleep up there. I must note that his sleeping face was incredibly cute.
“Now, what should we do next?”
Having wrapped up our work for the day, we walked back to the inn.
“The only thing left to do is the fitting after the costume’s initial sewing, right?”
“Fitting, huh? When was that again?”
As I tried to recall, I remembered that I had completely lost track of time while fiddling with metal. I hadn’t even had a moment alone to secretly make a wedding ring for Rio.
“Wait, isn’t that tomorrow!? I almost completely forgot…”
Just as I was trying to remember, Rio’s panicked voice rang out.
“Tomorrow… I completely forgot too.”
“I actually enjoyed making weapons more than I thought…”
“Ah ha ha! It seems like you, too, can lose track of time when you focus.”
It was a bit amusing since I was usually the one getting scolded. Seeing Rio blush and say, “Not as much as Shuu…” was refreshing.
“Well, you know… if the knife is sharp, cooking goes smoothly, right? Some ingredients can be really tough.”
“That’s true, but with magic, you can cut things too. I don’t think you need to be so particular about knives.”
“That may be, but it’s good for weapons too, isn’t it?”
As we discussed our plans moving forward, we found ourselves back in front of the inn without realizing it. Since our work for the day was done, we returned. With Nil joining us, I needed to inform the inn about dinner.
“Welcome back!”
“Thank you. Oh, we have one more tamed monster with us. Is that alright?”
“Yes, that’s no problem. As long as it’s not aggressive for its size, it can rest in the room.”
The owner glanced at Nil and smiled warmly. It seemed that adventurers with tamed monsters occasionally stayed here, showcasing their excellent hospitality.
“That’s good to hear. Thank you.”
“It eats a lot, so could you prepare an extra five servings of food?”
“Certainly!”
Some inns have stables for tamed monsters, but they tend to be quite expensive, and this one was no exception. However, if we could sleep in the same room as this fluffiness, I would love to try it.
Once we returned to our room with Nil, we resumed our earlier conversation.
“Either way, we need to go to the clothing store tomorrow.”
“Yeah. After that, should we head to the Temple?”
“Yes! I wonder if the Temple will be different since the country has changed?”
Rio looked excited, but I thought it might not change if the religion remained the same.
“Ah ha ha! That’s true. But I’m looking forward to it.”
Sitting side by side on the bed, Rio snuggled up close to me. We held hands and shared a gentle kiss.
As if sensing this, Nil, who had been sitting in the corner of the room, stood up and approached, placing its nose against mine.
“What’s up, you too?”
Feeling a surge of affection, I ruffled Nil’s fur, and it responded by licking my face all over.
“Whoa, stop that!”
“Ah ha ha!”
And so, our day came to a close.
