Guaranteed Rare Drops – Chapter 28

Chapter 27: The Billionaire

Claris and I decided to visit the Skill Book shop from the other day to sell the five surplus Skill Books we had.
I didn’t know how much they’d sell for, but we’d use the money to fund our next adventure.

“Welcome~!”

The lady from the other day greeted us again.
The lady noticed me, and her expression changed with a slight “oh.”

“My, my… It hasn’t been long, and you’ve returned with a girl in tow, have you?”
“Haha… Well, yeah.”
“So, did you manage to get any Skill Books?”

The lady said, her voice laced with sarcasm.
She probably thought I’d failed to get any Skill Books and had come back shamefacedly.
But too bad for her, I wasn’t here to reluctantly buy Skill Books.
I was here to sell my surplus Skill Books.

“Yeah, things worked out, you see.”
“Eh…?”

I plunked down five Skill Books onto the counter.
I had no idea what their prices would be, but they were all for magic-type skills.
Neither Claris nor I were magic-user classes, so we couldn’t use them.

“W-Wait a minute, you… Th-th-th-th-these are…?!”

The lady looked incredibly surprised by this unexpected turn of events.
Well, she probably never imagined I’d bring in five of them.

“Y-You didn’t steal them from somewhere, did you…?”
“No, no… They’re all dropped items.”
“I-Is that so… Even still… You’re surprisingly capable, aren’t you…”
“Well, I’m just lucky…”

The lady ducked behind the counter and started doing some calculations.
She was probably checking them against her current inventory or something.

“Alright, then… How about 800 million G?”
“Huh…?”

I couldn’t believe my ears at the amount the lady offered.
But there it was, clearly written on the check she held in her hand.

“H-Hey, Loin… If I didn’t mishear… that was eight hundred million… right?”
“Y-Yeah… I-Isn’t that some kind of mistake…?!”

We looked at each other.

“No, this is correct. Renowned mages and the like will pay any price for items like these.”
“I-Is that so…”

But still… Money really does exist in some places, huh…
Was it just because I’m a country bumpkin that I didn’t know?

“Well then, I’ll take it for now.”
“Yes, please bring any more Skill Books you gather anytime.”

My heart was pounding as I left the shop.
Just this slip of paper in my hand could move a fortune of 800 million G…

“H-Hey, Claris… What should we do with this?”
“Y-You’re right…”
“Maybe we could… buy a house…?”
“Eh…?”

We were adventurers, so I’d thought we didn’t need such a big house.
We’d probably go to other towns, and we could stay cheaply at inns with the guild discount.
However, with this much money, it was a different story.
We also had the Teleport skill, so we could set up a base anywhere.
Besides, it would be fun if Salina-san, Claris, and I… the three of us lived together.

“Y-You’re right… That might be nice!”
“Yeah, let’s go check out a real estate agent right away.”

And so, we decided to buy a house.
We’d probably be collecting all sorts of items from now on, too…
Having a base would be incredibly reassuring.
When I told Salina-san, she readily agreed.
After finishing our guild work, the three of us would go look at properties—
