Chapter 63: Bullying, huh!!
“Hugh, shouldn’t we head back to the classroom soon?”
“Yeah. Are you feeling alright?”
I asked Lecty, who was trying to get off the bed. She smiled and replied, “You’re worrying too much, Hugh.”
“Just this much is fine—whoa!?”
As she attempted to walk, her feet got tangled, and she stumbled toward me.
“Whoa!?”
I was just about to stand up from my chair, but I couldn’t catch Lecty in time, and we both ended up falling to the floor with her in my arms.
“Ouch… Are you okay, Lecty?”
“Y-yes. I’m sorry…”
Before I knew it, Lecty’s face was right in front of mine. We were so close that I could feel each other’s breath, and her amethyst-colored eyes were wide open in surprise.
“I-I-I’m so sorry!!”
“No, I’m the one who should apologize…”
After waiting for Lecty to calm down, we decided to head back to the classroom together.
As we walked up the stairs and down the third-floor hallway, I could hear Idiot’s voice echoing from a distance.
What the…?
It didn’t sound like an argument, but it was quite loud. As we got closer to the classroom, the voice became clearer, and I could make out the words.
“Listen up! We have the Holy Maiden’s blessing! Now is the time for us to unite under Lady Lecty and dedicate our victory in the Inter-Class Tournament to her! Glory to our Holy Maiden, Lady Lecty!”
“Woooooah! Lecty! Lecty! Lecty! Lecty!!”
What is this…? Have they been brainwashed or something?
Just a few hours ago, my classmates were at each other’s throats, and now they were all worshipping Lecty. Is it normal for nearly half the class, who received treatment from her, to revere her like this?
As we stood there, taken aback by the scene, Lily appeared from the classroom, looking utterly exhausted. It seemed she had noticed us approaching with her Skill.
“Lily. What is going on here…?”
“I want to know too… Well, I understand the flow of events, but I just can’t keep up with it.”
Lily let out a big sigh and explained the situation to us.
Apparently, right after Lily, Idiot, and Rouge returned, a discussion about choosing the commander for the Inter-Class Tournament began in the classroom. In the end, our third faction emerged victorious in the mock group battle, and Lily took the lead in the discussions.
“At first, I was thinking of volunteering as commander. But then Idiot chimed in, saying, ‘If we’re going to unite the class, Lady Lecty is the most suitable commander!'”
“Whaaaat!? Me!?”
“I thought Lecty would be reluctant, so I tried to stop them. But then Brown agreed with Idiot, and the other students who had received treatment from Lecty said they would follow her if she became the commander… I’m sorry, Lecty.”
“Th-that’s not fair…”
Lecty covered her mouth in shock.
…Well, considering that most of the class had received treatment from Lecty and had seen her selflessly helping everyone, it’s only natural they’d want to do their best for her. I felt the same way.
Having Lecty as the banner under which to unite the class makes a lot of sense—if you don’t consider her feelings, that is…
“I get how Lecty was chosen as commander. But how did it escalate into this chaos…?”
The chant of “Lecty! Lecty!” still echoed from the classroom.
“…Some students opposed Lecty due to her background. They were the ones who barely fought in the mock group battle and ended up getting injured. Hearing their claims, Idiot started to argue back, giving a speech about how wonderful Lecty is, and it gradually spiraled out of control… The class clowns and Lecty’s hidden fans jumped on the bandwagon, and this is what happened…”
“Wow…”
I couldn’t help but voice my disbelief at the absurdity of it all. Lecty’s face was bright red, and tears were welling up in her eyes as she trembled.
“I-I really hate Idiot now!!”
…Well, yeah. That makes sense…
Afterward, the “Lecty Call” came to an abrupt end when a furious Lecty stormed into the classroom and knocked Idiot down with all her might, enhanced by Physical Enhancement.
However, it was concluded that to unite the class for the Inter-Class Tournament, Lecty had no choice but to become the commander. After some persuasion from me and Lily, she reluctantly agreed.
Class 1-A would fight in the Inter-Class Tournament with Lecty as their commander.
As a side note, Alissa, who had been leisurely watching the whole exchange and saying, “Ah, youth is wonderful,” later faced a pay cut for neglecting safety management, resulting in a large number of injuries. She sobbed, “In the Knights Order, injuries like this are just a part of daily life!”
…I definitely don’t want to join the Royal Knights Order.
