024 No Time, So I Draw My Sword
Thousands of years ago, when the gods still dwelled in the mortal realm.
Born as the brother of Anubis, a god who ruled the country of Kaelum and was the king of its people.
That was Babi Niflheim, the boss of the Netherworld arc.
He is the father of Iris Niflheim, the additional heroine.
From that time, he was an extremely violent and selfish being, treating not only the people he was supposed to protect, but even every single infant as his own possessions.
For him, the country was nothing more than a device (system) to make his life comfortable, and the people were just the parts that made it up.
Furthermore, his arrogance, believing himself to be supreme, would not tolerate the situation of “others possessing something he did not.”
If his country had no sea, he would destroy every country facing the sea. If he heard of a country with more advanced technology than his, he would seize that technology and destroy the country.
If things did not go his way, he would rampage, continuing to annihilate anything that displeased him.
He would rampage from morning till night, leaving behind mountains of corpses and himself alone under the night sky.
Therefore, he came to be known as the Evil King of the Night Sky.
Though he made many enemies, his ego never subsided, as his strength was ridiculously immense.
Eventually, he even killed his own parents, who had warned him, because they were “too noisy.”
Moreover, judging from the in-game materials, it seems he attacked them in their sleep, which shows just how much of a beast Babi was.
Iris was born as the daughter of such a man.
It sounds good to say that he “wanted a child,” but his true intention was based on the arrogant and self-centered reason that “everyone else has children, so it’s strange that I don’t.”
Because of this reason and his past actions, including the fear that Iris might become the second Evil King of the Night Sky, Babi was eventually attacked by a coalition led by Anubis, his brothers, and those who had suffered from his actions, and he finally lost his life.
It was a tremendous case of Karmic Retribution, and his soul was denied entry to heaven, hell, and even the Netherworld, and was supposed to have dissipated… or so it should have been.
But that complex-ridden, DV bastard left a tiny fragment of his soul within Iris, who inherited his blood, and was accumulating power by feeding on the ‘heat (energy)’ that could be observed with the magic eye.
And in the original story, the protagonist’s strong ‘heat’ becomes the final push, and he uses the Divine Construct manufacturing system of the ‘Tower’ to create his own body and revive.
After erasing the memories of the kidnapped Iris and giving her power, he uses her to get close to Anubis without raising suspicion, assassinate the master of the ‘Netherworld,’ and then destroy the ‘Netherworld’ to take revenge on the members of the subjugation force that attacked him, and create his own country.
His shallowness as a character, which evokes more bewilderment than anger, and his beastly nature, which is inversely proportional to it, have made him a famous punching bag among fans, who are known for defeating him with various self-imposed challenges as a way to vent their frustrations.
“(Solo conquest… can I do it?)”
My current level is 74.
This is a level that is effective in the late stages of the main story, and if you just look at the numbers, it’s strong enough to fight Babi solo.
In the first place, this additional content is set up so that the protagonist’s soul comes to the ‘Netherworld’ while he is in a coma, so the party members are only Iris and a few nameless characters that can be hired from the guild.
Among them, Iris is kidnapped along the way, so the number and quality of party members are not as important as in the main story. Therefore, solo conquest is possible.
“(No, solo conquest and turning him into a punching bag are stories that require preparation. I haven’t done any of that preparation, and my equipment and skills are lacking.)”
And gathering companions and training them from now on will take time. There’s no time for that.
Unlike the game, since the event has progressed on its own, there should be a time limit before Iris has all her memories erased and becomes Babi’s pawn.
If there’s no time to prepare, it’s a pretty dire situation that would make me seriously consider throwing in the towel and resetting.
I’ve got a bunch of swords that are just for show, and as for armor, it’s the initial equipment from when I entered the academy! What am I supposed to do?! And I used up all my items in the fight with Bonus Uncle!
“Even so, it’s not like I’m completely out of options. First, I’m going to go see God Anubis, and I’ll force an audience and make him listen to me by force if I have to.”
“Are you really, really sure that will save Ms. Iris?”
“I can’t move forward until I meet him and get him to listen. Well, I’ll manage somehow. So, please provide support.”
“Damn it, why am I doing this, even if it’s to get help…! If this fails, I’m holding you responsible!?”
“It can’t be helped, I don’t have time or money. If I’m lacking equipment and other things, I have no choice but to get them from people who have them.”
As I said that, I drew my sword from the shadows.
In my line of sight was the ice castle, Niflheim, where God Anubis dwells.
I could see the soldiers, who must have heard about the commotion, looking a bit flustered, and I took a small breath to calm myself.
“God Anubis is in the audience chamber. You remember the path from when we first met, right?”
“No problem.”
“Then let’s charge straight there. Basically, try to ignore everyone around us, but eliminate anyone who gets in our way. No killing, though, that’ll be a pain later. They’re just souls, so God Anubis can restore them however he wants, but if we do that, it’ll probably make a bad impression.”
“You’re planning a break-in robbery, so you’re not much better.”
“If I had time, I’d take a much easier and safer route! Don’t be selfish, Aoi!”
In any case, it’s a race against time.
I’m not good at time attacks, but I know all the ways to get items and equipment in the ‘Netherworld,’ so there’s nothing I can’t do.
“Just you wait, you beastly, scum-of-the-earth DV bastard, I’ll show you what happens when you make me (the player) your enemy in this world (game)… I’ll teach you thoroughly…!”
