Episode 35: The Great Cleaning, Again. And a Carrier Pigeon
When I first got this castle, Mizuha and I did a big cleaning.
However, according to Misty, it was “half-hearted.”
She changed into the maid outfit she brought from Celine’s house and started cleaning briskly.
She was so incredibly fast, it seemed like she could really manage this huge castle all by herself.
“Let me help.”
“I’m fine on my own… no, I’ll take you up on that!”
Misty assigned tasks to me and Mizuha as well.
When we first met, she seemed to reject everyone, but now she’s the complete opposite.
It’s not monster subjugation or Card collection. It’s just cleaning.
Even so, I was happy that Misty was doing it with us.
“Please wake up, Rosette-san! Akito-san, Mizuha-san, and I are all working, aren’t you ashamed to be the only one sleeping! Come on, let’s clean together!”
Misty actually stormed into Rosette’s bedroom.
She snatched the futon and pillow from the lazy, slumbering blonde mage.
“W-what is it!? It’s still morning!”
“So what? Once the sun rises, it’s time to wake up. Here, take this broom. Or would you prefer a rag? You’re not going to say you don’t know how to clean, are you?”
“Fool. It’s not like I was born into my current position. I’ve done housework before. But now, I’m a great mage whom even the king respects. Why should I clean…”
“It’s fun to do it together! Come on, take off your pajamas and change.”
“W-wait, I’ll take them off myself… Akito is watching! Stop… Misty, you pervert!”
Misty’s personality has become bolder.
It feels like she’s enjoying life.
When Misty learned that my undead could also be used for cleaning, she even started organizing them into groups.
It seems she has awakened as a housework magistrate, not a pot magistrate.
“Phew… the castle is sparkling now! It’s so much fun to accomplish something together!”
The castle, which couldn’t hide its age no matter how much we cleaned, is now shining brightly. More than that, Misty’s eyes are shining.
Mizuha and I also wiped away our sweat with a pleasant sense of accomplishment.
“Good grief… it’s been ages since I’ve wiped floors… my back hurts… next time we do a great cleaning, at least tell me the day before. I can’t handle being woken up like that.”
Rosette grumbled, saying “I’m going to take a second nap,” and tried to return to her room.
But then, a pigeon flew in through the gap in the open window, cooing “Coo-coo.”
I’ve seen this pigeon before.
It’s a carrier pigeon used by the Valmiris Kingdom Royal Magic Corps for communication.
“Hmm… my dream of a second nap has been crushed. Misty, learning from you who has learned to rely on others, I’ll rely on you too. I’m going to go vampire hunting now. You guys help too.”
