Chapter 100: Royal Capital Adventurers’ Guild ③
“Baumgarten Territory, huh? Wonder what kinda place it is?”
“My skills are tingling!”
“Ane-san, are you going too?”
“We’ve gotta ride this big wave, right?!”
The inside of the Adventurers’ Guild was filled with the adventurers’ fervor.
“What’re we gonna do?”
“Can’t assume everything the Count said is true. Let’s wait ‘n see for now.”
My speech was a greater success than I expected, but of course, it didn’t resonate with absolutely everyone. There were cautious ones among them, and skeptical ones too.
Well, until now, no one paid us any mind at all. If even a few adventurers come, I’ll be more than happy.
After this, if I give similar speeches in the towns I return to, I should be able to gather even more adventurers.
“Alright, next is persuading the Guild Master. If there’s no Adventurers’ Guild, the adventurers will be in trouble. Let’s go, Klaus.”
“Yes, Danna-sama.”
Attracting an Adventurers’ Guild to the Baumgarten Territory. Failure is not an option.

“That ended surprisingly easily. I thought he’d be a bit more reluctant…”
The Guild Master of the Royal Capital’s Adventurers’ Guild was a frail old man, but he agreed to establish a branch in the Baumgarten Territory with surprising ease. What’s more, he even promised to quickly set up an Adventurers’ Guild and dispatch staff.
The meeting went so smoothly it makes me suspect there’s something else going on. And I haven’t even given him any bribes yet…
“Danna-sama, you are the only noble to have received a Promotion to higher peerage in recent years, are you not? And twice, at that. Furthermore, you are a saint who evolved your Gift, a hero who subjugated a dragon and protected the Royal Capital. Isn’t it likely that the Adventurers’ Guild also wished to have a connection with you, Danna-sama?”
“Hearing you put it like that, it makes me sound like some incredible great man…”
“You are undoubtedly a great man.”
Klaus said with a wry smile. Seeing Klaus like that, I couldn’t help but give a wry smile myself.
I know I’m not a great man at all. I’m just a mob character who happens to know game information. I’m not a hero like Reinhardt, who carries the fate of the world on his shoulders.
I don’t want to do things that would put myself and those around me in danger for the sake of saving the world. Reinhardt is an exception, though. I need you to save the world, after all.
“I am happy to have a master like you, Danna-sama.”
“Is that so? Well then, I’ll do my best not to betray your expectations, Klaus.”
“Please do.”
While we exchanged such lighthearted banter, the carriage proceeded down the main street of the Royal Capital. The Royal Capital is as bustling as ever. If only the Baumgarten Territory had even a tenth of this liveliness…
“Klaus, please stop by a cake shop. I wasn’t able to pay much attention to Ria or Lily today. I’ll buy some cake for them.”
“Understood.”
“Thanks.”
“Danna-sama?”
“Hm?”
Klaus turned to me with a somewhat formal expression. Was there some kind of problem?
“Danna-sama, what are your intentions regarding Lily-ojousama?”
What to do about Lily?
“What do you mean by that?”
“Danna-sama, you treat Lily-ojousama without any distinction from Cornelia-ojousama. Does that mean… that?”
Why are you being so vague? It’s not like I have anything to hide that would hurt if you poked around, you know?
“It’s true I’m careful to treat Cornelia and Lily the same way. With Lily, even though she herself wished for it, I somewhat forcibly made her my little sister. It would be pitiful if I created a difference between her and Cornelia because of that, right?”
Certainly, Lily was originally a commoner, and we have no blood ties. You could say she’s a complete stranger. However, it’s a fact that I have special feelings for Lily.
“No, if anything, it’s more towards her mother, Yuria…”
“Danna-sama…?”
Klaus was looking at my face as if doubting my sanity. Isn’t that a bit too rude?
“It’s true for Lily as well, but I find myself sympathizing more with her mother, Yuria. I think, ‘What if I hadn’t received the Healing Gift…?’ There’s the difference between a little sister and a daughter. However, you could say Yuria and I have shared the same despair, right?”
“Danna-sama…”
“It’s a strange connection, but I can’t think of Lily and Yuria as strangers. Besides, they were saved, after all. It would be pitiful for a mother and daughter to be separated, wouldn’t it? That’s why, before other nobles could set their sights on them, I forcibly made Lily my sister and hired Yuria as a maid.”
Perhaps there was another option, one where the two of them could have been happier. I sometimes think that. But, now that the nobles know the strength of Lily’s Gift, there’s no turning back.
“This Klaus is now convinced. There is no mistake in Danna-sama’s choice.”
“Thank you, Klaus.”
Perhaps because I was making such a gloomy face, Klaus said that in a slightly jesting tone. I really am blessed with good people around me.
However, Lily, huh…
A girl one year younger than me who directs straightforward affection towards me. Contrary to her quiet and calm demeanor, she possesses an affection so intense it’s almost outrageous.
“What should I do about this…”
“Danna-sama…?”
Receiving such wholehearted affection from Lily, I’m not so dense as to feel nothing at all.
