Chapter 182: VS Evil God
“I am far more worthy of being a god than that woman—What!?”
Lily’s spell, Stone Javelin, accurately pierced the Evil God’s chest.
“Lily, rapid fire!”
“Mm!”
Above Lily’s head, several Stone Javelins were generated once more and fired in succession.
A continuous, hard roar of solid objects colliding echoed, and shattered Stone Javelins scattered around, dissolving into the air as if melting.
A thick cloud of dust rose, obscuring the figure of the Evil God, which was trembling violently.
“Onii?”
“Keep up the rapid fire! We’ll chip away at it as much as we can like this!”
“Mm!”
I ordered Lily to continue the Stone Javelin barrage.
This isn’t a game. It’s not like there’s a cooldown after every action, nor can we just wait our turn to act.
If we show an opening, we’ll be done for.
There’s no reason we have to listen to what the Evil God has to say, after all.
“Guoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!”
A sound like the Evil God’s roar, or perhaps its death cry, reached my ears.
Could this be it? Could it really be?
“Everyone, on guard! It’s coming!”
At my voice, everyone in Reginleif tensed up.
“Damn yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooou!!!”
What came tumbling out of the dust cloud was a large old man, nearly two meters tall, clad in ornate armor. His face had dark, bluish skin, and he even had horns. Clearly, not human.
It’s the Evil God’s second form.
Lily had splendidly managed to deplete the Evil God’s first form.
“Damn you, barbarians! To not even listen to what I have to say… You have no common sense. Indeed, entrusting the world to that woman was a mistake.”
I just got lectured on common sense by an Evil God.
“There’s no need to listen to an Evil God! Kill it!”
“Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”
As if responding to my words, Eleonore raised her shield and charged at the Evil God. Cornelia and Claudia followed behind her.
They’re our pride, the three girls of the vanguard. Their individual strength is a given, but their coordination is also remarkably in sync. No matter if it’s an Evil God, getting past these three won’t be easy.
“Lily, how much do you have left?”
“Less than half.”
I entrusted dealing with the Evil God to them for a short while and began to replenish Lily’s Holy Power.
Lily splendidly depleted the Evil God’s first form, but as expected, her Holy Power consumption is intense. Replenishing it will take a little time, but I need Eleonore and the others to hold out.
“First—”
The Evil God’s withered voice trailed off.
And then—. The Evil God’s figure vanished.
In that instant, I felt a chill run down the back of my neck.
“Kua!?”
“Hoh…?”
“!?”
Blocking that attack was nothing short of a coincidence. I just had a vague, bad feeling.
But, I managed to protect Lily at the very last second from the Evil God’s greatsword, which was aimed at her neck. The Evil God’s greatsword is sharp and heavy. I’m surprised I managed to block it with my left hand.
“To think you stopped my strike. For trash, you’re not half bad.”
“Shut up!”
When I aimed the Holy Sword in my right hand at the Evil God’s face, it leaped backward.
“Lily, are you alright?”
“Mm.”
In an instant, the Evil God had slipped past Eleonore and the others and appeared near Lily. That speed, that movement path—it was abnormal no matter how I thought about it. Is it teleporting or something?
This wasn’t in my game knowledge. Blocking that first strike was a miracle.
How do I deal with this…?
“Onii-sama!?”
“We’re fine over here! I don’t know what trick it’s using, but the Evil God teleports! Be careful!”
Within my glaring sight, the Evil God ostentatiously raised its large, black greatsword into an overhead stance.
Of course, even if it did that, no one was within the Evil God’s attack range. Normally, I wouldn’t even pay it any mind. Normally—!
Suddenly, the Evil God’s figure vanished.
“Kuh!”
CLAAAAAAANG!!!
That bastard, it went after Lily again!
Somehow, I managed to cross my twin swords and block the Evil God’s greatsword.
“Hoh? Twice now. So the previous one wasn’t a fluke, was it…?”
“Guh…!”
The pressure from the Evil God’s greatsword intensified. Inch by inch, the blade of its greatsword drew closer to my face.
“Hm?”
“Ei!”
“Seyaaa!”
The Evil God dodged Cornelia’s and Claudia’s attacks with a backstep and moved away from me.
“Saved me.”
“Are you alright, Onii-sama?”
“That teleportation… It’s troublesome, isn’t it…”
Cornelia and Claudia readied their sword and spear near me.
Just as Claudia said, that teleportation ability is a pain. At this rate, there’s no point in forming a line. And if it targets Lily, who has no close-combat capabilities, it’ll be dangerous. Someone will have to protect Lily, becoming an idle unit.
Besides, right now it’s only using it for attacks, but if it starts using it for evasion too…
Hm?
Come to think of it, why did the Evil God bother dodging Cornelia’s and Claudia’s attacks?
The Evil God can teleport. What if it evaded by teleporting, for example, behind Lily?
The Evil God’s attacks would continue relentlessly, and we’d be forced into a purely defensive stance.
Why isn’t the Evil God doing that?
Are there some conditions for its teleportation?
