It has been three years since I, Nagano Mika, was summoned to the Gata Niiga Kingdom through the Saint Summoning ritual. One fateful day, I found myself in the grand hall of Reisic Castle, the royal capital of this kingdom.
“You false Saint Nagano Mika! I hereby declare your expulsion from this kingdom! Leave at once!”
The one declaring my expulsion was none other than the prince of this realm, Orokanikuso von Gata Niiga.
“Expulsion…? What do you mean, Orokanikuso-sama? I would like to hear your reasons,” I replied, bewildered.
“It’s quite simple, Nagano Mika. You have been bullying my fiancée, the true Saint, Kogomi, haven’t you?”
Standing beside Orokanikuso was a young woman of twenty with a short, fluffy hairstyle. Her figure was exaggeratedly voluptuous, and her face was… well, somewhat attractive. She was Kisogawa Kogomi.
Kogomi was summoned alongside me during the Saint Summoning ceremony three years ago.
“I have never bullied Kogomi-san…” I protested, trying to recall any interactions we had shared since our summoning.
“Mika-san is lying! Just because I’m young, beautiful, and overflowing with talent as a Saint, she’s jealous! Because of that, I’ve been bullied every day!” Kogomi exclaimed, her voice dripping with feigned innocence.
It was true that I was twenty-nine when summoned (twenty-six at the time), while Kogomi was just twenty. However, I had never felt any jealousy towards her youth or talent.
“False Saint Nagano Mika! It is a fact that you have bullied Kogomi, isn’t it?” Orokanikuso pressed.
“No, that’s not true… Kogomi is just saying that on her own…”
“Hmph! Don’t lie. The truth is that you are jealous of Kogomi, aren’t you? After all, Kogomi has manifested the skills of a Saint, while what do you have? Internet? Ha! What a joke!”
“Internet?” I echoed, confused.
“Yes, that! You possess that useless skill called Internet!” he scoffed.
The Saint Summoning ritual was a ceremony that literally summoned a Saint from another world. When summoned, each Saint was granted a unique skill. Skills, as one might find in web novels, refer to special abilities.
Upon our summoning, we were assessed with a Magic Item to determine our skills. The result revealed that Kogomi had the skill of a Saint, while I was stuck with the skill of Internet.
Due to her possessing the Saint skill and being young and beautiful, this kingdom—and particularly the prince, Orokanikuso—recognized Kogomi as the true Saint. Meanwhile, I, lacking any Saint skills, was labeled as the “false Saint” and treated as Kogomi’s mere accessory.
“However, I must point out, Orokanikuso-sama, that expelling me would lead to dire consequences,” I warned.
“Dire consequences?” he asked, intrigued.
“Yes. The barriers protecting the towns and villages of this kingdom were established by me.”
Kogomi had not performed any of her duties as a Saint since her summoning. All the responsibilities had been carelessly dumped onto me, as she deemed them too bothersome.
“Hmph! How could a mere false Saint like you maintain the barriers?” Orokanikuso challenged.
Without the Saint skill, I couldn’t create a standard barrier.
“Indeed, my skill of Internet does not grant me the power to create barriers,” I admitted.
“See? You have no grounds to speak!”
“However, it is true that I have been the one maintaining the barriers.”
While a true Saint could effortlessly create barriers with just a thought, I lacked that power. Yet, I had constructed the barriers through alternative means…
“Who would believe such nonsense?” Orokanikuso scoffed.
“Really! Hey, old lady, did you perhaps look up how to create barriers on the Internet?” Kogomi chimed in, revealing her true colors.
“Yes, that’s exactly what I did,” I replied.
“Haha! How ridiculous! Just because there’s a lot of information online doesn’t mean you can find instructions on creating barriers!” she laughed mockingly.
But the truth was, there were indeed guides available…
“Regardless! For the past three years since Kogomi was summoned, I have diligently fulfilled my duties as a Saint, yet you have lied and claimed my achievements as your own!”
No, that was not a lie; it was the truth. Kogomi had done absolutely nothing since arriving here…
