Mountain Internet Saintess – Chapter 30

Vermilion Bird (Juvenile) (SSS+)
→ A legendary divine beast, the juvenile Vermilion Bird. It governs fire, but being newly hatched, it struggles to control its flames.

It truly resembles a Vermilion Bird.

“Pee? Pee~?”

At first glance, it looks like a chick with its red feathers. Its round eyes and small beak make it appear just like a baby bird. The size and fluffiness are identical to that of a chick.

“Wasn’t it supposed to take a thousand years to hatch?”

In times like these, I turn to the Omniscient and Omnipotent (Internet).

Reason for the Early Hatching of the Vermilion Bird
→ The divine energy emitted by the Living God, Mika Nagano, was overwhelmingly powerful.

“So, it means… that Mika-sama’s power was so extraordinarily strong that it caused the early hatching! As expected of Mika-sama!”

Felmaa wags her tail vigorously.

“Oh, how adorable!”

Fubuki approaches the baby Vermilion Bird. The juvenile Vermilion Bird’s eyes widen in surprise.

Tears begin to well up in its eyes.
Crackle…!

Sparks scatter around the Vermilion Bird.
Crackle! Crackle-crackle-crackle…!

…A terrible premonition washed over me.

“Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!”

The Vermilion Bird’s body glows a brilliant red. I instinctively sense the danger and, almost reflexively, activate my skill.

“[Time Stop]!”

In an instant, color and sound vanish from the world. It’s the skill I acquired upon becoming a god, allowing me to halt time.

I gaze at the juvenile Vermilion Bird, speechless. Flames are bursting forth around it.

“The Omniscient and Omnipotent (Internet) said it couldn’t control its flames… but could it be… a runaway reaction?”

But first, ensuring everyone’s safety takes priority.

I can only stop time for five seconds.

“[Greater Teleportation]!”

Using another skill I obtained when I became a god, I teleport Felmaa and the others away from the Log House.

We arrive at a lake near our home. The juvenile Vermilion Bird hovers above the lake, while we land on the shore.

Time resumes.
In that moment, a tremendous explosion echoes, BOOM! as flames spread outwards.

…I fall back, landing on my rear.

“Could it be… the lake’s water evaporated in an instant…?”

There’s nothing left where the lake used to be.
I’m certain this was home to a high-level monster known as the King Fish.

Yet, neither the lake’s water nor even a single bone from the King Fish or other fish remains.
The Vermilion Bird’s flames were that powerful.

“What… what just happened?!”

Felmaa shakes her head while cradling the Little Fenrir.
Fubuki quickly grasps the situation.

“That Vermilion Bird lost control of its flames. And the master did something about it.”

“Well, that’s about the gist of it.”

It seems everyone, including the Little Fenrir, is safe.
Phew… thank goodness…

“Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!”

The juvenile Vermilion Bird is wailing in the center of the lake.
Goooohhh! Flames threaten to spread around it.

“This is bad! Felmaa!”
“Understood! I’ll use magic to contain the flames!”

Fubuki transforms into the Blizzard Dragon.
Felmaa takes on her Fenrir form and casts ice magic at the juvenile Vermilion Bird.

A massive ice barrier is formed.
But… Fwoosh! It generates intense steam.

“What power! Even with a legendary monster, the two of us using all our strength won’t hold for even a minute!”

“Mika-sama! Please escape with the children while you can!”

Felmaa shouts desperately. I can feel her urgency.
But… I can’t run away.

“Pii! Piiiiiii! Piiiiiiiiiiii!”

The baby Vermilion Bird is crying. Yes, it’s crying out of sadness.

I can’t leave a crying baby alone.
Moreover… if I don’t stop this runaway reaction, Felmaa and the others will perish.

That’s absolutely unacceptable.

“Felmaa, keep using magic to prevent the flames from spreading.”
“What will you do, master?!”

“I’ll calm the baby down!”

I teleport to the center of the flames.
Goooohhh! Intense flames rush towards me.
“Don’t! Mika-sama! You’ll burn to death!”

If I were an ordinary person, that would be true.

“I’m fine! I’m still alive!”

I raise my voice so Felmaa and the others can hear me.

“Thank goodness! Mika-sama…!”
“I see, it’s the effect of the Immortality skill!”

When I became a god, the Immortality skill manifested within me.
No matter the external attacks I face, I cannot die.

Thus, even amidst this raging inferno, I can survive.
Well, it’s definitely a bit hot… no, it’s extremely hot.

Also, for some reason, my clothes aren’t burning.
Is some kind of divine power protecting me?

No, I’ll think about that later.

“Don’t worry, leave it to me.”

I press a button on my smartphone.
In an instant… Bam! The juvenile Vermilion Bird’s body shines with a golden light.

“What an intense light!”
“Could this light be…!”

Poof! The flames vanish in an instant.
I find myself sitting in the center of the dried-up lake.

“Thank goodness… the runaway reaction has stopped…”

I let out a huge sigh of relief.
Ah, that was hot. I take off my down jacket. Ouch, that’s hot.

“Mika-sama~~~~~~~~~~~~!”

Felmaa rushes over with the Little Fenrir in her arms.
She hugs me and starts licking my face.

“I was so worried!”
“Meow!” “Mew~” “…………!”

The Fenrir all start licking me at once.
“Thank you. I’m sorry for worrying you.”

I gently pat Felmaa and the children’s heads.

Fubuki, now in her human form, approaches as well.

“What kind of magic did you use? To stop the Vermilion Bird’s runaway reaction in an instant?”
“It’s simple. I gave this child… a name.”

Akahane
[Species] Vermilion Bird (Juvenile)
[Level] 150

“By naming her through [Let’s Become Familiars], you evolved the juvenile Vermilion Bird’s existence!”

Since she was just a baby, her control skills were underdeveloped.

So, I thought if I could evolve her, raise her level, and enhance her skills, the runaway reaction would cease.

“Look, Akahane-chan. She’s a new friend!”

I bring Akahane closer to the Little Fenrir.
Akahane stiffens in surprise.

Meanwhile, the Little Fenrir, despite the chaos that just unfolded…

“Meow!” “Mew-mew!”

The two lick Akahane’s face.
Akahane happily chirps, “Piiiii~~!” and nuzzles against the Little Fenrir.

In return, the Little Fenrir lick her back, and Akahane nuzzles them. Yes, it seems they’ve become friends already.

“Children are amazing; they make friends so quickly.”
“Indeed.”

Felmaa watches Akahane with a gentle expression.

“What’s this, Felmaa? You’re looking at Akahane with such tender eyes.”
Fubuki tilts her head, puzzled.
“Normally, I would think you’d go on about how the scoundrel who harmed the beloved Mika deserves a thousand deaths! But…”

“I won’t do that. After all, the other party is just a newborn baby, isn’t it?”

As expected of a mother. Her understanding of babies is truly reassuring.

In my arms, Akahane, who had been playing with Feruta and the others, looked up at me.

“Welcome to our home. You are warmly welcomed.”

And thus, the new member, Akahane of the Vermilion Bird, joined our ranks.
