“Kwaooon!”
The voice of Mother Kirin echoed from outside the Log House.
We hurried outside to check on her.
“Peep—!”
The Baby Kirin rushed to her mother, nuzzling against her affectionately.
“Welcome back. You were quick.”
“Kwaon.”
Mother Kirin approached me and knelt down, her head bowed and unmoving. If Akahane or Kurohime were here, they would know what to do…
“Burururu…”
Suddenly, Mother Kirin lifted her head and glared behind her. There stood the members of the Twilight Dragon.
Ah, I see. She thinks they’re enemies.
“Don’t worry. They’ve become my subordinates.”
She snorted and turned her head away. I couldn’t blame her; after all, they were once threats to her life, so her caution was understandable.
However, I hoped that she and the Twilight Dragons could get along. They would be working under me from now on.
“It’s a feast! Let’s have a Tako Party!”
““““Tako Party…?””””
The Twilight Dragons and the Kirin family tilted their heads in confusion.
“I wanted to introduce my children to you all. Let’s celebrate together!”
Sharing a meal would surely help us bond.
And so, the party was set in motion. Why a Tako Party, you ask?
Because I wanted takoyaki. After indulging in lavish dishes lately, I craved something more casual and comforting.
“Caro-chan, Tomato-kun!”
Before I knew it, my vegetable familiars, Tomato-kun and the carrot-headed ones, appeared at my feet.
“Get the preparations ready for the Tako Party.”
“““…””” Bish!
Suddenly, vegetable familiars emerged from all around and disappeared into the Log House.
“Saintess, what was that just now…?”
“That was… well, your seniors, in a sense? My familiars.”
Rita nodded in understanding. Before long, Caro-chan announced that the preparations were complete.
The wait hadn’t even taken ten minutes. Truly, my efficient vegetable familiars were impressive.
“Alright, let’s go!”
Though Mother Kirin was still wary of the Twilight Dragons, she obediently followed my lead.
As we approached the Log House, Rita sniffed the air.
“What is this mouthwatering aroma…?”
The scent of sauce wafted through the air. Huh? Why was it coming from outside? The windows were shut tight.
“Master.”
“Grurururu…”
Fubuki and Felmaa emerged from the Log House in their human maid forms.
“The meal is ready. I shall guide you to the terrace.”
The Log House had a terrace? Wait, does that mean we’re eating outside…?
I had imagined a cozy home party with a takoyaki grill inside, but… well, let’s see how it goes. We moved to the backyard with Felmaa and the others.
“I am Felmaa, the Royal Guard of the great Mika-sama, and the one who oversees the familiars!”
Felmaa was putting on a senior act in front of the Twilight Dragons.
“Remember, I am Mika-sama’s number one! In terms of hierarchy, you all rank below the vegetable familiars!”
She was quite fixated on hierarchy, probably because she was a dog?
“Understood. We are newcomers and will strive not to be a burden to our seniors.”
“Good mindset.”
It seemed they were satisfied. Now, as we arrived in the backyard…
““““What is this!?””””
The Twilight Dragons appeared to be shocked by two things. One was the multitude of fluffy creatures.
“Bow-wow!” “Wow!”
The fearless Puppy Fenrir duo, Feruta and Feruco, charged towards the Twilight Dragons.
“Peep! Who are you, who are you!?”
““““A bird is talking…!?””””
The sheer number of large fluffballs and the unfamiliar divine beasts left the Twilight Dragons in awe. That was the first surprise.
The second was… I was also taken aback. There stood a takoyaki stall, reminiscent of those seen at festivals.
“Who made this splendid takoyaki stall…?”
“….” Bish!
In front of the stall stood Satsuma-kun, carrying a hammer on his back. Ah, so he had overdone it…
The familiars looked at me as if to say, “Did we do something wrong…?”
“Thank you, great work!”
““““…””” Yay!
The vegetable familiars high-fived each other. This wasn’t quite the Tako Party I had envisioned, but… oh well.
“Alright, everyone take a seat. We’re having a welcome party!”
The terrace was furnished with tables and chairs, all handmade by Satsuma-kun. As I took the seat of honor, Felmaa naturally sat beside me.
The members of the Twilight Dragons also took their seats.
“Kwaon…”
Mother Kirin stood behind me, looking a bit lost. To my right was Felmaa, and to my left was Rita, the leader of the guests.
She probably wanted to sit next to me.
“There’s an open seat next to Rita, so go there.”
“Kwaon.”
She seemed reluctant but reluctantly moved to sit beside Rita. As for the Baby Kirin…
“Bow? Woof?”
Feruta and Feruco surrounded the Baby Kirin.
“Peep…”
The Baby Kirin trembled slightly.
“Bow!” “Wow!”
“Peep!”
Feruta and Feruco seemed eager to befriend the Baby Kirin, leaning in closer. But the Baby Kirin, frightened, darted away.
She trembled at the edge of the terrace.
“…”
Ferumi approached and gently licked the Baby Kirin’s cheek.
Feruta and Feruco, who had chased after her, received a cold glare from Ferumi.
She probably wanted to say, “Don’t scare the Baby Kirin.”
The two nodded and left.
“Peep! Peep~~~~!”
The Baby Kirin looked at Ferumi with admiration. She must have seen her as a formidable figure who chased away the Fenrir.
As I watched the fluffy creatures frolicking, it seemed the takoyaki was ready.
Freshly cooked, steaming hot takoyaki appeared on the table.
“Saintess, what is this food…?”
To Rita and the others from another world, takoyaki must have been an unknown delicacy.
“This is a dish called takoyaki.”
“May I have some, Saintess?”
“Of course, go ahead.”
Rita took the lead, spearheading for everyone. She pierced a takoyaki with her fork.
“Is this an egg? But… this appetizing, savory aroma… ah!”
With a bite, Rita tasted the takoyaki.
“Delicious!”
She chewed and swallowed, her face lighting up.
“Saintess! This dish called takoyaki is amazing!”
“That’s great to hear. Keep eating; there’s plenty more!”
With Rita as the first to dive in, everyone began to enjoy the takoyaki.
“It’s so good!”
“I’ve never had such a delicious dish before!”
“The outside is crispy, while the inside is gooey. I’ve never tasted anything like this…!”
The feedback from the otherworlders was overwhelmingly positive. And what about the fluffballs…?
“Awoooooo!”
“Wowooooo!”
Feruta and Feruco howled in delight at the deliciousness. I realized they had never had anything like this either.
The takoyaki served in dog bowls was disappearing at an astonishing rate.
The divine beasts also devoured the takoyaki, munching happily.
“Kwaon! Kwaon!”
Even Mother Kirin, though unable to speak, was enjoying her meal.
“Kirin-sama.”
Rita offered a plate of takoyaki to Mother Kirin, just as her own plate had emptied.
“Please, eat.”
“……………………Kwaon.”
With a gentle nudge, Mother Kirin pushed the plate back towards Rita.
“May I eat as well?”
Mother Kirin nodded. The two shared the takoyaki, munching and laughing together.
Truly, sharing a meal brings people closer together.
“Now, where’s my portion…?”
I noticed that all the takoyaki on the table had vanished!
“I’m so sorry! Hey, you lot! You’ve eaten too much!”
Felmaa scolded the children. Well, she had sauce smeared all over her mouth too…
“Pfft.” “Hahaha!” “What a delightful senior!” “I mean… I didn’t know Fenrir could be this silly…”
The Twilight Dragons and the fluffballs were laughing together. It seemed we could all get along just fine.
Caro-chan arrived late, bringing more takoyaki. I speared one with a skewer and took a bite.
“Mmm! So good!”
The delightful crunch and gooeyness are simply irresistible. The octopus is so plump and succulent!
It’s steaming hot, almost to the point of burning my mouth. But I don’t mind; after all, this is a Dragon Vein Area.
I savor every bite of the delicious takoyaki to my heart’s content.
