Day 1: Indoor Production
Login Day 1
Starting today, I’m beginning “Kima-Kura Utopia.”
This game, commonly known as “Kima-Kura,” was released about a year ago. It’s a VRMMO game based on the concept of “Carefree Living and Carefree Crafting.”
I finally saved up enough money to buy a compatible full-dive VR set. I’m going to start playing this title I’ve been wanting to play right away.
After finishing character creation, the first thing that appeared in my vision was a small room, about the size of five tatami mats.
There was a simple desk and chair, like a workbench, a lamp hanging from the ceiling, a bed, and a mirror. The walls, ceiling, and floor were all made of wood, creating a simple yet calming space.
This must be my room, I guess.
Reflected in the mirror was a petite girl with deer antlers and ears.
It was the character I had meticulously designed earlier. Her name is “Bibia.”
Usually, online, I use sillier names or casual ones based on my real name, but since I managed to create such a cute, fantasy-style character, I decided to give her a Western fantasy-style name too. It would be a real downer to be greeted with “Good morning, Yamada!” in this kind of world, you know?
By the way, the profession I chose is “Tailor.”
In this game, apparently, if you become good friends with a character and give them clothes as a present, they might actually wear them. I really want cute characters to wear cute clothes that I like.
The next thing that caught my eye was a piece of paper on the desk. I approached it and read it.
“To Bibia-chan,
Welcome to Restin, Royal Capital!
I wonder if you like this house, where I first opened my shop?
It’s small and there’s not much here, but it’s not uncomfortable, is it?
You can use anything in the house as you like, and feel free to remodel it too.
If you’re not sure what to start with, you should refer to the Mission List issued by the Guild.
You can view it from the ‘Guild Information’ app on your Multi-Tablet.
I’m looking forward to the day when the reputation of Bibia the Tailor reaches my ears!
From your master, Tephana.”
It seems I’ve moved to a place called Restin, Royal Capital, and I’m apparently the disciple of someone named Tephana.
You could choose your starting point from the cities and countryside of three countries, a total of six locations, and I chose the city in the “Fortress Nation Restina.”
I wonder if this “disciple of Tephana” setting is common to all players? Or does it change depending on the profession?
In any case, I’ll start by activating the tablet as my master suggested.
This “Multi-Tablet” is one of the Items you have from the start, but basically, it’s the name for the embodiment of the game system’s commands.
We players don’t need to physically take it out; we can call up the screen in our vision by using a pre-registered specific movement—a shortcut key.
The key I registered is snapping my fingers. I’m bad at it, so it doesn’t actually make a sound, though.
Alright then, the Mission List…
When I tapped on the section labeled [Job Missions], a whole list of items like these appeared.
- Craft a ★1 clothing Item
- Tailor a ★1 Cotton Shirt
- Tailor a ★1 Cotton Pants
- Tailor three ★1 Cotton Shirts
I see, so the first thing is to make clothes, apparently.
The “★” refers to quality, and it seems to go from 1 to 5.
I’ve already learned how to make them in the tutorial, and I received a Pattern and materials as a first-time bonus, so I immediately stood in front of the workbench.
Then, a system panel appeared in my vision. The process is that you operate the panel to select tools, a Recipe, and materials, and the Item is automatically created.
For tools, the [Novice Sewing Kit]; for the Recipe and Pattern, [Short-Sleeved Shirt]; and for materials, [Cotton Cloth (White)] and [Sewing Thread (White)].
Once I finished making all the selections, a motion appeared where the tools and materials started moving on their own on the workbench. Then, with a “ting-tong” sound effect, the completed Item gently fluttered down onto the table.
The [Cotton Shirt ★1] was complete.
Without a pause, a “pikon” notification sound rang out. Judging by the “M” mark that appeared at the edge of my vision, this seemed to be the signal for mission completion.
Switching to the tablet screen and tapping the Guild app, the items ” – Craft a ★1 clothing Item” and ” – Tailor a ★1 Cotton Shirt” on the Mission List now had a “Clear!” stamp and the words “Reward: 10 GP” added to each of them.
“GP” stands for Guild Points, and you apparently get them by completing missions. If you save them up, you can exchange them for Items or receive various benefits.
Well, I doubt I can get anything amazing with just 20 GP anyway, so for now, I’ll just focus on production activities following the Mission List.
[Kima-Kura Utopia. Talk Room (Official) – General]
[Ephie]
Koppepon
Its only use is pretty much as fuel.
Burns well and lasts long, ya know!
[Rinrin]
For now, I make sure to keep at least five of any kind of Trash Item.
I still can’t escape the trauma of the Ladybug Shock.
This game is scary because it casually betrays users’ general ways of thinking, or common sense, you could say.
[Momo Taro]
Unforgivable, the tragedy of Cliffeus’s downfall.
[Barretta]
It was Giltoa’s epic tale of overthrowing his superiors, wasn’t it?
[Una]
I told you not to touch that topic, it’ll get as out of hand as the Kinoko-Takenoko War!
[Yoshio www]
Shut up, Mountain Faction. It’s the Takenoko-Kinoko War, damn it.
[French Salad ★]
Is rerolling mandatory in this game, srsly?
[Ephie]
Not mandatory, but recommended.
However, depending on your favorite character, it might be mandatory.
[Momo Taro]
Since when did Kima-Kura become a character game?
[universe202]
It’s been a character game from the start.
[Rinrin]
It’s a galge, I tell ya!
[Barretta]
It’s an otome game, you know?
[French Salad ★]
Characters? I don’t really get that stuff, so it doesn’t matter, but does it affect efficiency in progressing through the game?
My profession is Artisan.
I don’t even know where the rerolling element was in the first place.
[Una]
I don’t know if “rerolling element” is the right way to put it, but if there is one, it’d be the initial title and the customer characters, right?
Like, who you get a letter from, and who comes as your initial customer.
I don’t know about Artisans, please ask in the dedicated thread for them.
[Takenaka]
For Artisans, rerolling is recommended for efficiency too.
Fashion-related jobs? It’s generally like that, but there’s this young lady customer named Rirusten who becomes an incredibly competent patron.
If you don’t meet her and raise her affection level before clearing all the beginner missions, the next time you can meet her is a long way off.
As for titles, I’d recommend the safe choice of “Academy Graduate”; you can use the library right away.
[French Salad ★]
It’s over.
Give me back my four days.
