Profession: Tailor – Chapter 15

Day 14 – Reverberations
Login Day 14

【Revolution Event】

An event that affects the entire game world and involves individual players. Furthermore, it refers to something that has the potential to overturn the existing environment, flow, and common sense in gameplay.
Activation is limited to a single instance by the first player who meets the conditions and agrees to execute it. (The event content is automatically released as a video on Kima-Kura Historia.)

While Pioneer Events only involve an increase in game content (such as missions and explorable areas), Revolution Events are characterized by including both increases and decreases in game content. As a result, some players will benefit, while others will suffer disadvantages.

In other words, it’s a turning point, a course-altering event that can affect all players.

Examples of past Revolution Events: [The Last Princess’s Debutante], [The Sealed Forest], [Cliffeus’s Ordeal]

‘Hey, Giltoa disappeared!’
‘Give us back our Giltoa! He was a precious patron who provided substantial financial aid to material shops!’
‘My favorite… my favorite character has vanished… There’s no meaning to life anymore…’
‘Serves you Academy grads right, lol’
‘A comeback victory for the Cli-faction!’
‘Huh… I just finished collecting Crystal Mist and was about to go meet Giltoa.’

The comment section of the official video site was in an uproar, a festival of mixed joy and sorrow, and I trembled.
It seemed that the event I triggered was, as expected, automatically released as a video. Choosing to use a dummy avatar on the spur of the moment was a blessing in disguise, you could say.

Still, to think that a choice I made so casually would turn out to be an incident that shook the entire Kima-Kura world like this.
After looking into it, this was how the uproar came about.

The person named Giltoa I met yesterday is apparently one of the “Sages,” NPCs who hold particularly important positions. These Sages are characters who grant special skills in exchange for an item called 【Crystal Mist】.
Moreover, Giltoa-shi is also a competent customer character, providing financial aid and exchanging rare items for goods sold in shops, or so I heard.

However, there are several conditions for him to appear in a shop, one of which is the title 【~Academy Graduate】. Since this title is randomly given at the start of the game, the only way to obtain it is to reset the game.

In other words, by activating 【Magdala’s Whereabouts】, I ended up burying such a competent character. That covers the “sorrow” part of the mixed joy and sorrow.
So, why are there people experiencing “joy”?

Actually, it seems Giltoa wasn’t an ultra-competent character from the start of the service.
This is because the position he held—a rarely appearing librarian and a member of the Restina Kingdom’s Privy Council—was originally occupied by another Sage named Cliffeus. This character was also a customer character who brought great benefits to players.

However, the condition to receive his benefits was the exact opposite of Giltoa’s; that is, one had to possess an initial title other than 【~Academy Graduate】—what’s called an “unschooled child” in Kima-Kura slang.
Despite this, his disappearance and Giltoa’s rise to prominence were apparently also due to a Revolution Event, just like this time.

And so, because the misfortune brought about by that Revolution Event was overturned again by the recent event, some people are rejoicing.
It also seems there are people who are simply happy or sad due to their love for the characters.

To summarize, it’s like, ‘Phase 1: Cliffeus Faction > Giltoa Faction,’ ‘Phase 2: Cliffeus Faction < Giltoa Faction,’ ‘Phase 3: Cliffeus Faction > Giltoa Faction ← We Are Here Now,’ I guess. Considering this flow, well, I have a feeling this dynamic might flip again due to some unforeseen circumstance in the future.

Honestly, for me, who didn’t even know about Giltoa’s or Cliffeus’s existence until yesterday, it’s pretty much a non-issue. Since I’m what you’d call an “unschooled child,” Cliffeus’s return should be a welcome thing, but I’ve never received his benefits before, so it doesn’t really hit home.
If this had been completely someone else’s problem, this whole commotion would have probably ended with me thinking, “Huh, so stuff like this happens. Funny~.” But in reality, that “non-issue” person was the one who triggered the revolution.

Most of the people making a fuss or complaining seem to understand that this is just a game and are enjoying grumbling about it.
However, as I scroll through the video comments, there are some people who seem genuinely pissed off… And then there are others who seem to find that amusing, instigating things like, ‘Let’s dox the one who did it!’

Ugh~, I just want to enjoy the game quietly by myself.
I’d hate it if I got harassed when I go out in the future. It’s scary.

For a moment, the idea of consulting my younger sister flashes through my mind. Actually, my sister is also a Kima-Kura player, a hardcore one who’s been playing since right after its release.
But I quickly shook off that thought.

My sister, four years younger than me, has a bit of a difficult personality. It’s not that we don’t get along, but I get the feeling she looks down on me.
I have a feeling she’d dismiss me with something like, “Huh? That’s Natsu’s fault for starting the game without researching properly.” My frozen heart would surely shatter.
To protect my pride as an older sister, perhaps I should try to be strong here.

After all, this is just a game, and Revolution Events must have been incorporated as part of the fun. I shouldn’t take people who complain about it seriously, right?
…But, today, I think I’ll just stay cooped up inside and make clothes.

【Kima-Kura Utopia. Talk Room (Official) – Room for Discussing Pioneer or Revolution Events】

[KUDOU-S1]
The person who triggered the Ordeal event got flamed and disappeared, right?
They were one of the few roleplayers in Kima-Kura back then and pretty famous.

[Naltiq]
That was the first revolution to affect every single player, after all.
It was pretty shocking.

[Yuuhei]
You mean Yuma?
They were a hardcore gamer, so it was surprising they had a weak mentality.

[Yoshiowww]
All because they went full-on noble lady roleplay without using a dummy, lol.

[Nicola]
It’s bad that they ask whether to use a dummy before activation.
They should ask after it’s over.

[Sasa]
People with weak mentalities shouldn’t roleplay.

[KUDOU-S1]
In the first place, the existence of Revolution Events itself is malicious.

[universe202]
Kima-Kura itself is a malicious game.

[Nicola]
There’s a slight chance the devs believe in the players’ conscience.

[Naltiq]
No way.

[YTYT]
It’s the devs’ conscience I can’t believe in the most.

[Usukuchi]

Naltiq
revolution to affect every single player
Isn’t that wrong?
It was just material shops, right?

[universe202]
Anyone who puts materials in their shop is a material shop owner.

[Ephy]
Gil-Cli will show up even if you just put one Healing Mint in your storefront.

[Usukuchi]
S E R I O U S L Y ! !

[Milk Kingdom]
I liked Yuma’s roleplay, though.
I often watched the short videos they uploaded on SNS.

[Letima]
Yuma-jou and Cliffeus’s interactions were hilarious, weren’t they? lol
The skit of the selfish young lady bossing around a Sage, lol.

[YTYT]
For his affection not to drop, but instead be overwhelmingly number one despite that, Cliffeus is, uh…

[Alaska]
I just watched the Ordeal video, but the activation condition being Cli’s affection level & the player’s love for Cli is seriously too psycho, isn’t it?
I love it.

[Yuuhei]
Well, if you could take your favorite character to an event, you’d obviously choose your fave.

[Nicola]
I feel like there were hints given Cliffeus’s personality.
Though with that roleplay, not taking him wasn’t an option, I bet.

[Makoto-chan]
Yuma didn’t retire, they just did a dark-fall reset, ya know.
Now they’ve been reborn as a villainess who seduces countless NPCs.

[YTYT]
Huh

[Letima]
No way.

[Ma Yu]

Makoto-chan
Don’t say unnecessary things (^∀^)

[Letima]
No way!?

[KUDOU-S1]
Yuma → YUMA → MAYU
Is that what it is!?

[Milk Kingdom]
I… I liked Yuma’s character…
To think the person behind them was a love hunter…

[Ephy]
Revolutions really do create all sorts of tragicomedies.
This is why I can’t quit Kima-Kura.

[YTYT]
Mayu’s ultimate favorite was Cliffeus…?

[Nicola]
But it’s true, Ma Yu-san has this image of never skipping Cliffeus for the world’s date events.
With other characters, she’s pretty whimsical, like she’s just sampling, and her choices fluctuate a lot.

[Ma Yu]
Hey, it’s not like I reset because I got flamed, so get that straight.
I just wanted to atone for the sin of cornering Cli.

[Naltiq]
Yandere are scary.

[universe202]
Hardcore character fans are Kima-Kura’s greatest darkness.
