Reincarnated as My Game Character – Chapter 18

Chapter 18: Restraining Myself is the Hard Part

In fact, restraining the urge to grin whenever I imagine tomorrow is proving to be the harder task.

“Honestly, it’s truly a mystery why someone as incompetent as this was born as the eldest son of our Quist Family. It’s only fortunate that his younger brother turned out well; I shudder to think what would have happened otherwise.”
“That’s right, isn’t it? Not only can he not fulfill his duties as the eldest son, but he pushes everything onto his younger brother. Honestly, I wish I could just kill him right now and pretend he never existed. You should live your life being grateful that the Quist Family is secure thanks to your younger brother.”

And then, following my younger brother’s flex, my parents followed suit, hurling slander and insults at me.

Hearing their words, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was truly related by blood to these people, but since everything will be reversed tomorrow anyway, it doesn’t matter now whether we share blood ties or not.

Besides, every time they try to flex on me or look down on me like this, completely oblivious, it only elevates tomorrow’s retribution into something even sweeter. So no matter what they say to me now, I don’t feel bad at all.

In fact, I want them to realize even more strongly tomorrow just how foolish their actions towards me have been, so I actually want them to flex on me, look down on me, and shower me with slander as much as they please right now.

“Hey, why don’t you say something?”
“Do you still not understand your position? Your younger brother, Douglas, who will formally inherit the Quist Family tomorrow, is saying his cup is empty. So stop spacing out and hurry up and pour him some water!”
“Now, now. That’s exactly why he’s so shameless and useless, isn’t it? It’s irritating to get worked up over someone like him, so let’s just ignore him. It seems he wants to be kicked out of this house tomorrow anyway, so why don’t we just grant his wish and kick him out once Douglas formally inherits the house tomorrow?”
“Hmm, you have a point. Since he’s acting this way towards me, he must have already resolved himself to being kicked out. Even though I went out of my way to teach him that acting disrespectfully towards me would mean he couldn’t stay in this house anymore.”
“That’s true. To think he’d trample even on his younger brother’s kindness. If anything, I’d like to kick him out right now, but the Duel with him tomorrow is already decided, and we’ve already explained it to the nobles we invited. Rather, tomorrow will be the first time he’s ever been useful to this family, so he should be thanking me and his younger brother for setting the stage for him.”

And then, my family, excluding me, began to eat their meal, laughing truly despicably.
