Chapter 9: I Don’t Understand
And now, Liliana spoke as if the reason this place was currently flooded was entirely my fault.
Naturally, her attitude pissed me off, and I considered retaliating just a little, but doing so now would spoil half the fun of tomorrow’s main dish, so I decided to grit my teeth and endure it.
After all, things like this feel best when you strike down your opponent while they’re still mistaken. For that sake, enduring one or two provocations is nothing.
Given how much I’ve endured until now, tomorrow must become the best day for me, and the worst day for my younger brother.
“What’s with that look?”
“Now, now, Liliana. It’s fine, isn’t it? He’s finished tomorrow anyway, so let’s forgive him for today, shall we?”
“As expected of Douglas-sama!! So kind even to such useless trash!! In contrast, it’s unbelievable that someone like this useless trash could be born as the actual older brother, related by blood to the kind and wonderful Douglas-sama… Why don’t you act like the useless trash you are and try to learn a little from your younger brother, Douglas-sama?”
“Hmph, it’s probably impossible for him anyway, so let’s just leave him be. Wasting time dealing with him is pointless. There’s no need to deliberately cut into our precious lunch time together for his sake, right, Liliana?”
“That’s true. Oh, since this place got flooded because of you, you deal with it, okay? See ya.”
And with that, Douglas and Liliana said only what they wanted to say and disappeared from my sight.
Seriously, who’s the real trash here?
“What a pain…”
Then, I chanted Wind Magic and Fire Magic to create a blast of hot air, drying only my clothes. Without bothering to dry the flooded floor, I once again headed towards the area where the buffet-style lunch was being served.
◆
“Hey, why did you leave the dining hall floor flooded without doing anything?”
After finishing lunch without any further incident, I was about to head back to the classroom, but on the way, I was caught by the Elf Teacher.
She led me to an unused classroom at the edge of the school building, and the very first thing she asked me was that.
I don’t understand why I, the victim, am being told off like this.
“No, hold on. Liliana was the one who flooded the dining hall floor, wasn’t she? Why should I have to clean up a floor flooded by the Water Magic Liliana used? Besides, even though I did absolutely nothing, they were the ones who picked a fight with me unprovoked. I believe I’m the victim here, aren’t I?”
