Reincarnated Captain Hunter’s Child – Chapter 103

Episode 103: To Space Once More

“Main engine operating at 80% capacity. Output stable, Magic Drive Engine auxiliary functions also starting without issue.”
“No problems detected within the ship’s hull, gravitational effects are minimal. Preparing to initiate the Atmospheric Escape Sequence.”

Even though it was only activated once every six months, it took nearly a year to repair this battleship so it could ascend into space, after it hadn’t received satisfactory maintenance on this planet for about 4,500 years. This included developing a navigation plan and resolving supply issues.
In particular, increasing the production of Magic Cores for the Magic Drive Engine took time. Finding a planet where Magical Power can be charged like this one is quite difficult, and it’s not certain whether Magical Power can be replenished smoothly even on such planets.
The energy from the Magic Cores is used for destroying debris and against Space Sea Beasts. Spatial Jump in emergencies consumes a tremendous amount of energy. It’s always better to pack as much as possible.
Even though Ore’s base is in a land full of Magical Power, replenishing the Magical Power of a space battleship itself inevitably took time. Turning the Magic Stones of the Space Sea Beasts I had into Magic Cores also took time.
During that time, I also handled my duties as a Lord, absorbed several nearby territories and became known as a Margrave. I returned to guarding the Young Lady and attending the academy, and was also asked to act as an Adventurer. It was quite a busy year. Well, thanks to the Androids, governance became much easier.
In any case, all preparations for the Amur Adonis are complete, and not only was the main engine repaired, but a spare was also created. It can be replaced in case of emergency.

“I never thought we could actually build a main engine.”
“It’s thanks to the Captain’s abnormal collection.”
“…Well, there’s that too, I guess.”

I also crushed the escape pods, though.

“It wasn’t like we had everything, but the Amur Adonis’s mother computer was still excellent.”
“The problem was that the Captain wasn’t fully utilizing what he had.”
“Shut up!”

Of course I had various things! But I didn’t think I’d have reports related to the basic theory of the main engine!
I had already started the repairs before that!

“If you had produced that sooner, we could have launched into space three months earlier.”
“Rouge, you shouldn’t say too much truth.”

It gets to Ore.

“…Preparations for the send-off are complete.”
“Okay, let’s launch it then.”

When the Amur Adonis takes off, there will be a considerable impact. I apologize, but all the items that were outside and seemed dangerous were moved indoors.
Each building was reinforced, and some wooden buildings were even dismantled.
Currently, the residents have moved to the castle and are eagerly awaiting the launch of the Amur Adonis from there.

“I probably won’t see something like this again in my lifetime.”
“Hahaha, something of this size. I still can’t believe it’s floating in the sky.”

Barbatos says with a laugh. Well, I guess so. Even Albatrosius sometimes looks at it with a face that still can’t believe it’s flying.

“Captain. All preparations are complete.”
“Alright, let’s begin the Atmospheric Escape Sequence. Amur Adonis, activate!”
“Roger, Amur Adonis, activating.”

Following Ore’s instructions, the Amur Adonis manipulates the gravity field and floats into the air. The impact generated at that time lightly shook the entire base.

“Adjusting the ship’s hull. Confirming reports from each department. No problems, all green!”
“Move forward at slow speed.”
“Moving forward at slow speed, beginning to move to an altitude where there will be no damage to the surroundings.”

If it took off as is, the thermal energy emitted from the ship’s hull would incinerate the surroundings. To prevent that, the ship needs to move to a certain altitude.

“Reached the planned point. Entering the final phase of the Atmospheric Escape Sequence.”
“Very well. Start the countdown.”
“Counting down from 5 seconds, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.”
“Takeoff.”
“Takeoff… Amur Adonis, reached planned speed. Atmospheric escape… successful.”
“…Alright, good work. I’ll leave the rest to you. Amur Adonis.”

The Amur Adonis, with its high capabilities, smoothly escaped the atmosphere. It leaped out of this planet’s gravitational sphere and danced its hull into space.
Ore watched it intently, and removed the hat that was the symbol of Takeo Brooklyn (Major) from his head.

“However, is it alright, Claffy-sama, not to go together?”
“Didn’t I tell you many times?”
“I heard, but… that’s why, that ship is special to Claffy-sama.”
“That’s right. And I’ve already said goodbye once, it’s a thing of the past.”

Ore, who remained on the ground, spoke to Beatrice while looking at the sky where the Amur Adonis, no longer visible, had flown.

“Takeo Brooklyn (Major) is already dead. I already said goodbye to that ship once. I just helped it return because it said it could return to the sky, to the sea of stars… that’s not my ship anymore.”
“To be honest, I’m a little disappointed. I would have accompanied you if you were going.”
“Kukukukuk, that might have been an interesting journey in its own way.”

A journey through space with the people here. That’s quite an exciting proposal.

“But here is Cladfield. The child of a hunter living on this planet.”
“…Claffy-sama, I think it’s about time you stopped calling yourself a child of a hunter.”
“It’s you guys who are forcing strange positions on me!?”

Being called Your Majesty, or Lord, or Margrave! These are not my intentions!?

======

Personally, I liked the parts where I was called Your Majesty or Lord more than guarding the Young Lady, but what about you all?
If you could give me your thoughts, it might become nourishment for future works.
I might want to write about the Amur Adonis’s navigation records after the final episode.
Thank you for reading to the end. If you like, please take a look at my other works as well. Well, many of them are unfinished though.
