“Then, we’ll mainly be selling these items,” I said.
“Sounds good to me.”
The items lined up in the shop were recovery potions, mana potions, and Antidote Bases made by Fiorina. Monster Repellent Sachets, insect repellents, consumable lights, and various other consumable goods for Adventurers were the main focus. There were also wooden statues and small storage items carved by the old carpenter at the base.
The highlight was the Iron Needle Tree’s needles, huh? Not bad.
“I casually mentioned it at the Adventurer’s Guild, but I wonder how it’ll go,” I said.
“As long as they come as customers, I’ll manage somehow. I’ve considered both the goods and the prices. Though, I don’t expect it to be bustling right away.”
“Of course not.”
The potions were cheap, while the mana potions were a bit pricey.
The Antidote Base was, as the name suggested, the base for antidotes. Since there were many types of poison, it was common to mix a drug corresponding to each poison into this base. This was also pricey. The Monster Repellent Sachets were standard, and the price was normal.
The insect repellent and consumable lights were made from processed Dreg Magic Stones. The insect repellent didn’t ward off all insects, and it wasn’t very effective against insect-type Monsters. The consumable lights were Dreg Magic Stones that glowed when Magical Power was infused. Once lit, they wouldn’t go out until the Magical Power was exhausted, so you’d use about two or three to last the night.
And then there were the Iron Needle Tree’s needles. Those things Asahi and the Onmitsu were using as throwing weapons. They were extremely expensive.
“After that, we can gradually increase the number of items, I suppose. Fiorina is learning various things, but her production speed isn’t fast,” I said.
“I’m sorry,” Fiorina said.
“No, don’t push yourself too hard. Our tools are limited, after all.”
“Your Majesty…”
“How magnanimous.”
Yes, these two had also used Oath Magic. However, the Subjugation Magic was still in place. I could release it at any time, but Barbatos was registered as the master, so she could give orders even when I was away.
Fiorina had been taught various medicines that could be made while in the Village, but when asked if they could be sold, she often tilted her head.
I overheard a bit, and she was casually taught things that made me wonder what they were useful for, things with limited uses, and things that were dangerous to put on the market.
I was glad Fiorina had a normal sense of values. Selling Monster-attracting sachets was way too dangerous.
“How about the Communicator?” I asked.
“It’s fine,” Fiorina said.
“I’ve learned it,” Barbatos said.
Basically, the warriors from the base would bring herbs and such here, and on their way back, they would take salt, consumables, and crops that weren’t grown in the Village.
However, it seemed it would still take time. The tunnel aside, the road wouldn’t be completed so easily. The warriors were cutting down trees and removing stumps at an unbelievable speed, but they had to make the cleared areas passable for carriages.
Until then, large cargo exchanges were impossible. However, since we didn’t know what might happen, I left a Communicator so we could talk in case of an emergency.
“Barbatos and Asahi, I’m counting on you too,” I said.
“Yes, sir!” Barbatos said.
“I’ll do my duty, ganbaru,” Asahi said.
Not only Asahi, but the warriors were also scheduled to come to town in turns. Those who had only lived in the Village needed to get used to the outside world and common sense to some extent.
“Well then, I have a job guarding the Young Lady,” I said.
“Understood,” Barbatos said.
“A Young Lady being protected by the King… I still don’t get it,” Asahi said.
“Well, it’s a job. If the chief tells you to do something, you do it, right?” I asked.
“Definitely,” Asahi said.
“It’s the same thing.”
Nearly two months had passed since I showed my face in this country. We were approaching the end of summer. Well, I still thought the domain capital was hot, though? But it would take about two weeks to get to the Royal Capital.
Even so, the academy’s long summer vacation was over, and it was time for the Young Lady to return to the Royal Capital. I had to head back to the guard job.
I had received an advance payment for various things, and I was one to see a job through to the end once I accepted it.
“Well then, I’ll take my leave now. I’m leaving the rest to you. If anything happens, contact me via the Communicator,” I said.
“Yes, sir!” Barbatos and Asahi said in unison.
I told them that and went down to the underground warehouse, where I used Spatial Jump to fly near the domain capital.
“…Asahi, come out,” I said.
“Yes, sir! Is it time for night service?” Asahi asked.
“No, it’s not night, I don’t need it, and you’re too fluent! And when did you slip into the shadows!? Go back,” I said.
You just saw me off a moment ago! You’re too quick!
“But, the guard…” Asahi said.
“I don’t need it!” I said.
“Okay,” Asahi said.
Seriously, there’s no letting my guard down…
“Yuzuki, come out,” I said.
“Oh, you noticed?” Yuzuki asked.
“You too, huh… The gate to the Village is this way,” I said.
One of the Onmitsu. And then.
“Grandma Hotaru,” I said.
“Heh heh heh, I don’t want to get old,” Grandma Hotaru said.
“You had the most subtle presence… The way back is that way,” I said.
How many people snuck in?
“Houryuu… isn’t here, is he?” I asked.
I didn’t sense him anymore. It should be fine.
“Haa, I should assign tasks to each member when I go out,” I said.
If I gave an order, they would surely obey. Everyone had sworn loyalty to me with Oath Magic, after all.
