Episode 77: Am I Going Deaf?
“So, this incident is currently troubling the Royal Capital, you see? Does anything come to mind?”
“Well, now, I wonder about that.”
“By the way, it matches the list of stores and warehouses I gave you, you know?”
“Is that so? Coincidence is a scary thing.”
Iserina-san is contacting me through the communicator. Even I think it sounds disingenuous when I say it.
“First of all, I only investigated the Eefan Company and the Marquis Glauber Estate in connection with my security business.”
Apparently, an incident occurred last night. The contents of the Eefan Company’s stores and warehouses were completely emptied overnight.
That was the work of our group of thieves.
They didn’t hold back at all, it seems. They even knocked out people who were currently using things and stole them. Apparently, half-eaten food was the only thing left.
Marquis Glauber and his family were left sleeping on the bare floor. Well, if you take the carpets, only the bare floor remains.
It’s caused quite a stir, and the Knights Order has been summoned. Marquis Glauber is in a state of chaos. Moreover, the rumors are running wild, but it doesn’t seem to be heading towards a resolution.
Apparently, the Knights Order is investigating. They can’t request an investigation from the Adventurers because the money to make the request was also stolen. It seems they thoroughly collected everything without holding back.
“Wouldn’t someone’s Spatial Magic be able to store everything?”
“I wonder about that. But it’s impossible to go around to all those places in one night without any witnesses, you know? The Marquis’s estate has knights and soldiers of considerable skill stationed there.”
“…Hmm. Certainly, you don’t have that much skill, huh?”
Iserina-san’s assessment is correct. My skills as an Adventurer would be in the upper ranks of the intermediate level, but not quite at the top. Well, it would be possible if I properly equipped myself with over-technology.
By the way, all the perpetrators have already returned to the base.
They’re probably making a fuss right now, arranging furniture and decorating the newly built castle. Of course, I told them they can use anything they want.
The Eefan Company mainly sold products for nobles, but there were also a lot of products for commoners in the stores and warehouses.
In fact, there were so many products for commoners that it might have been the main focus. So, they should have found furniture that suits their homes in the base.
“Well then, I’ll leave it at that.”
“Ah, wait a minute. There’s something I want to ask you.”
“What is it? Another delivery of materials?”
“No. I want you to take me to the Aeria Kingdom.”
“Aeria…? Uh, is that the country beyond the mountains we went to the other day?”
“That’s right.”
That’s the name of the country beyond the northern Mount Faon, the Black Forest, and the mountains surrounding it, a country with no diplomatic relations. It’s called the Aeria Kingdom.
The Town of Solva, which the people at the base use as their base, also belongs to that kingdom.
“Claffy-kun can teleport in an instant, right? I have to go there for inspections sometimes, but crossing the mountains is dangerous and takes time, so it’s a hassle.”
“I can go, but is it okay to move so suddenly?”
“We can’t send letters, so it’s always like this, you know? It takes weeks to get there after saying I’m going, and if I go around to various places, about a year passes.”
“Years, huh…”
Her sense of time is strange, perhaps because she’s a long-lived Elf.
“By the way, could you also accompany me as a designated request from the Guild? I’ll be moving around a lot, so I think I could use Claffy-kun’s abilities. I’ll introduce a high-ranking Adventurer from the Cybarossa House with noble blood as your escort.”
“Ah, well, I can’t agree to that on my own.”
I’m just an employee, after all.
“Ah, that’s true. I’ll make inquiries from my side.”
“Can I tell Master beforehand?”
“Well, tell him it’s nominally an environmental survey around the Black Forest, and a designated request for a guide. Environmental surveys actually happen from time to time, so it shouldn’t seem out of place.”
“Understood.”
“Tell him I’ll visit after this commotion has calmed down to some extent.”
“Roger.”
“If accompanying me is impossible, please just send me off and pick me up!”
“…Alright, I can do that much.”
“Thank you! That’s a big help!”
While Marquis Glauber and the Eefan Company had everything stolen and the Royal Capital was in an uproar, the Cybarossa House was actually kept safe.
That’s because the Knights Order was surrounding us in a semi-surveillance state. Our involvement was completely denied.
It wasn’t us who actually moved, but me, or rather, the Onmitsu group.
Since Marquis Glauber, whom Master had been keeping an eye on, had been weakened, the strict alert was lifted. The Young Lady started going to the academy again, so I also went to the academy.
After continuing that kind of life for a while, a designated request for me from the Adventurer’s Guild arrived via the Cybarossa House.
“I was just thinking about hiding Cladfield-kun. This is perfect.”
“What’s that about?”
Apparently, there are rumors circulating that I know the recipe for Hair Cleansing Liquid. I actually do, but I wonder where that leaked from.
“Since it’s come to this, take those guys and leave the Royal Capital.”
“It’s not like I’m fishing for them.”
So, with Master’s permission, I decided to go out with Iserina-san again.
Spatial Jump for transportation, I’ve shown it before… but how much should I show Iserina-san?
While thinking about that, I moved to the underground warehouse in the Town of Solva with Iserina-san. When we went upstairs, Barbatos and Beatrice greeted us.
“Welcome back, my Lord.”
“Welcome back, Master Claffy.”
“My Lord? Master? And Bal-kun?”
“Oh, Iserina-sama. It’s been a while.”
“Yes, it’s been a while… wait. Eh?!”
Oh, you know each other? Sorry, I was actually alive.
“My Lord, the subjugation of the Nielson Territory is complete.”
“Yes, this place is now Cladfield Territory.”
“…Huh?”
Am I going deaf?
