Chapter 60: Justice Will Prevail!
Enma stared down the Ibinom.
From the cockpit, Ema gazed at the colossal Ibinom and pondered.
What exactly should he do against this colossal Ibinom?
“(Hmm. Which of Enma’s armaments can actually deal damage…)”
Ema reviewed the armaments installed on Enma.
It was equipped with numerous armaments, but the missiles he’d fired earlier had no effect.
That didn’t mean other armaments wouldn’t work, though.
There were still plenty of untested weapons.
However, he wouldn’t know which ones were effective until he tried them.
“(Alright. Let’s try everything I can!)”
Ema decided to use Heat Edge first, ascending Enma and slashing at the colossal Ibinom.
Heat Edge managed to slice through the Ibinom’s carapace, but it couldn’t inflict significant damage.
After all, Enma’s Heat Edge was far too small against the colossal Ibinom.
At this rate, no matter how many wounds he inflicted, he wouldn’t be able to defeat the Ibinom.
“(Ngh! The size difference is just too fundamental; no amount of scratching will do anything! It’s like a human being bitten by a mosquito…!)”
Enma was an excellent machine, but the colossal Ibinom was so far beyond standard scale that damage just wasn’t getting through.
No matter how hard Enma tried, it would be meaningless at this rate.
“I guess there’s only one way then…”
Muttering in the cockpit, Ema decided to play his trump card.
Ema clacked away at the controls and entered the final command.
“Against a kaiju, a giant robot is the classic choice, right?”
As he spoke those words, a program activated.
External units, prepared exclusively for Enma.
Parts designed for combating giant Ibinoms were released from the hangar and flew towards Enma.
Five parts approached from beyond the horizon.
“Fuffuffu…! Combine!”
Ema, acting rather unbecoming of his age, couldn’t help but get excited; it was only natural.
The five parts began to combine in mid-air, descending to the ground as a body lacking only a head.
Naturally, the unit to be mounted as the head was the Enma piloted by Ema.
Enma transformed with a series of clanks and crashes, becoming the face of the giant robot.
Then, as if for the finishing touch, Enma, now the face, docked sharply into the giant robot.
“This is Great King Yama!”
One might think ‘Enma Daiō’ would have been fine for the name, but since he himself decided it, no one could criticize him.
Besides, Ema himself was an old-fashioned man and disliked foreign words written in katakana.
“Let’s goooooo!!!”
Great King Yama leaped forward in a single burst of action, its colossal frame, no smaller than the Ibinom’s, unleashing a punch.
Rotating its upper body to build momentum, the punch, powerful enough to fell trees with its wind pressure alone, struck the Ibinom directly.
The Ibinom couldn’t withstand it and staggered backward, its body crashing into a building.
“Ngh! It can’t be helped!”
It was a considerable loss to write off, but defeating the Ibinom before him was the priority.
The building, destroyed more by Great King Yama than by the Ibinom, was worth billions, but it couldn’t be helped.
It was a noble sacrifice for peace.
“No life signs in the building! Evacuation is complete! Now I can fight without holding back!”
Great King Yama went on a rampage.
Knowing the evacuation was complete, there was nothing to fear.
Several buildings collapsed, but he paid it no mind.
Unlike in fiction, they wouldn’t be completely repaired by next week, but if the Ibinom was left alone, the damage would only spread further.
That being said, it wasn’t as if Ema causing destruction was somehow preferable.
Whether it was the Ibinom or Ema, the destruction was the same.
No one would rejoice at their homes or companies being destroyed.
Of course, there might be some who would rejoice at the destruction.
But still, Ema fought on.
To protect his beloved Japan.
“Nuoohhhhhhh!”
Rotating his upper body, he unleashed right and left punches.
Thud, thud! The Ibinom was pummeled, retreating backward.
Just as those watching Great King Yama’s battle became convinced he would win, the Ibinom launched a counterattack.
Ducking under Great King Yama’s punch, it spun its entire body and whipped its tail.
The tail flattened buildings, and Great King Yama, unable to dodge the sideways attack, was sent flying and knocked down.
“Guwaaaaaah!”
Great King Yama fell with a mighty thud.
Ema inside couldn’t help but scream.
He tried to get up quickly, but the Ibinom pounced, mounting Great King Yama.
“Ngh!? It took the top position!”
As if to say, “My turn now!” the Ibinom swung both arms, pummeling Great King Yama.
Great King Yama was helpless against the Ibinom as it repeatedly slammed down its arms.
“Endure it! Hang in there, Great King Yama!”
Ema, instinctively taking a guard pose in the cockpit, cheered for Great King Yama.
He probably should have been operating the levers to get Great King Yama back up before doing that, but Ema, being mounted and continuously pummeled, was in a state of confusion.
As this went on, the Ibinom’s attacks lessened, perhaps due to fatigue.
Seizing this as his chance to escape, Ema fired the thrusters at maximum output, sending Great King Yama, along with the Ibinom, into the sky.
Ema hadn’t expected the Ibinom to cling on, but figuring this was convenient in its own way, he carried the Ibinom away from the city.
Mid-flight, the Ibinom thrashed about, causing Great King Yama to lose balance and fall.
“Kuuuuhhh!”
Great King Yama crashed to the ground, gouging the earth with a ZUGAGAGA sound, while the Ibinom tumbled away in the distance.
Somehow unharmed, Great King Yama stood up and turned to face the Ibinom that had rolled far away.
There, the Ibinom was trying to get back on its feet.
Ema charged towards the wobbling Ibinom.
“Take thiiis!!!”
Great King Yama’s shoulder tackle slammed into the Ibinom.
Its stance unstable, the Ibinom couldn’t withstand the impact and fell backward.
Great King Yama then mounted it and, as if saying “My turn now,” repeatedly punched the Ibinom’s head.
However, this didn’t last long, as the Ibinom’s tail attack sent Great King Yama flying.
“Ngh! Not yet!”
Sent flying, Great King Yama immediately righted itself and charged straight at the Ibinom.
The Ibinom also rushed towards Great King Yama to meet the attack.
They collided like sumo wrestlers and began to grapple.
“A contest of strength, eh! I don’t dislike it! I’ll show you the power of Great King Yama!”
The contest of strength began.
Both, refusing to lose, put all their strength into trying to defeat the other.
Even Ema, merely operating the controls in the cockpit, was getting fired up.
“Uooooooh, I won’t looooose!”
Perhaps Ema’s fighting spirit prevailed, as Great King Yama managed to throw the Ibinom sideways.
As the Ibinom slammed onto its back, Great King Yama threw a punch.
However, the Ibinom caught Great King Yama’s punch with both hands and, as if rolling, swept Great King Yama down.
The impact caused the cockpit to shake violently, and Ema let out a huge scream.
“Guaaaaaaaaaah!”
Great King Yama rolled over and over.
Shaking his head in the cockpit, trying to regain his sense of balance, Ema saw the Ibinom heading towards him.
The Ibinom tackled Great King Yama as it was trying to stand up.
Great King Yama fell backward once more.
And the Ibinom tried to take a mounted position.
Realizing this couldn’t continue, Ema used the equipped Elec Cannon to blast the Ibinom away.
The Ibinom reeled back and fell, paralyzed and unable to move from the Elec Cannon’s blast.
Seeing this as his chance for victory, Ema quickly had Great King Yama stand and unleashed his special move, Maximum Blaster.
“Speciiial Mooove! Maximum Blaaasteeer!!!”
A giant cannon barrel emerged from Great King Yama’s abdomen, unleashing an enormous beam that incinerated the Ibinom.
Seeing the Ibinom obliterated without a trace, Ema let out a roar of victory and struck a final, cool pose.
“Haahhahhahhahha! Justice will prevail!”
Striking a decisive pose with a shakīn, Great King Yama and Ema splendidly achieved their first victory.
There had been quite a few dangerous moments, but since they won, all was well.
