Returnee of the Seventh Academy – Chapter 234

Episode 53: Looks Like We Can Go to Hawaii!
◇◇◇◇

Some time had passed since Kazuma became student council president, and February was approaching.

“Is the student council president’s job just stamping documents?”
“Can you handle paperwork?”
“I can’t!”
“Then, just do as you’re told.”
“Yes!”

Kazuma stamped the documents handed to him by the vice president, Karin.
Kazuma had almost no work. He was a splendid figurehead.

“Thanks to you, Kazuma-kun, everyone’s more focused.”

Hayato, who was on a flexible attendance schedule, had come to see how the student council was doing and looked on with deep emotion as the student council members, aside from Kazuma, worked busily.

“It’s thanks to me, right!”
“Yeah, that’s right.”

Since the student council president was useless for anything other than fighting, the other student council members inevitably had to cover the administrative tasks.
Fortunately, the student council members had no complaints about this.
This was because they understood what kind of person Kazuma was and hadn’t expected him to do paperwork from the start.

“Well, in return, we’ll have Kazuma-kun do some physical labor, though.”
“Physical labor? What will I be made to do?”
“You’ll be a helper for the clubs. You can’t participate in tournaments, but we send out student council members who are free to be practice partners and such.”
“Don’t people usually call friends or acquaintances for that kind of thing?”
“Of course, that happens too, but it’s also allowed to call on student council members.”
“Meaning?”
“Requests have come in for you, Kazuma-kun, from martial arts clubs. And what’s more, they’re for kendo, judo, kyudo, karate, boxing, wrestling, sumo, and so on.”
“And so on…? Are there still others?”
“Tea ceremony, home economics, literature, track and field, swimming, and others too.”
“Martial arts, I can understand, but why the cultural clubs…?”
“Half out of curiosity, and the other half for fun, I suppose?”
“What do they take the student council president for…?! I’ll purge them!”
“Yes, yes. Stop fooling around and get to work~”
“Oka~y.”

Karin lightly poked Kazuma’s head as she handed him the documents.
Kazuma received the documents, quickly skimmed through them, and then stamped them.

“Unlike our time, it’s lively and looks fun, doesn’t it?”
“It was a serious student council without someone like Kazuma-kun, so it was quiet, you know.”
“There’s a part of me that’s a little envious. I wish I could have worked like that too.”
“If that were the case, I’d be the one struggling, wouldn’t I?”
“You’d be fine, Shiori, I’m sure.”
“Well, if it were me, I wouldn’t just poke his head, I’d smack it.”

Hayato and Shiori were enjoying themselves in the break space in a corner of the student council room.
Both of them had already secured jobs and had nothing particular to do until graduation, so they often hung out in the student council room.
Moreover, Kazuma dutifully made tea snacks by hand and brought them, so their visiting frequency was high.

Thanks to Kazuma, whose domestic skills were maxed out, the student council room was kept clean and was fully stocked with tea snacks, making it a perfect place for relaxation.
And, if asked, Kazuma would also give massages, making it the best environment for when they were tired.
However, since Kazuma left most of the paperwork to others, he did these things as a form of atonement, so no one was forcing him.

“Speaking of which, Kazuma-kun. Have you decided on the training camp destination yet?”

As if suddenly remembering, Hayato asked Kazuma about the lodging for the upcoming orientation for the new and old student councils.

“It’s already decided. I think it should be announced soon~”
“Hm? What do you mean? Could it be… you decided on your own?”
“That’s right! I’m sorry, but I took the liberty of deciding! But don’t worry! I think everyone will be happy with it!”
“No, you have to decide on the budget and stuff, so deciding on your own isn’t good, but…”

While Hayato was cautioning him, Kazuma was summoned to the Headmaster’s office over the school intercom.

“Satsuki Kazuma-kun. Please come to the Headmaster’s office immediately.”

At the sudden summons, the members in the student council room, other than Kazuma, frowned suspiciously.

“Kazuma-kun. What on earth did you do?”
“I’ll report on that later! I’m just going to the Headmaster’s office, so I’ll leave things to you for a bit!”

Saying that, Kazuma dashed out of the student council room.
The remaining student council members wondered what was going on, but concluding that Kazuma had probably done something again, they returned to their work.

Arriving at the Headmaster’s office, Kazuma cheerfully announced himself before opening the door.
“Satsuki Kazuma. I was summoned! Excuse me!”
“Mm. Very good, full of energy. Please, have a seat there.”
“Yes!”

As instructed, Kazuma sat down on a luxurious-looking sofa.
The Headmaster sat opposite Kazuma and placed a large brown envelope he was holding on the desk.

“Do you know what this envelope is?”
“I don’t know.”
“Really? You really don’t know anything?”

The Headmaster knew the contents of the envelope.
Inside the envelope were documents stating that the restoration of Hawaii had been completed, and a request from the government to use Hawaii for the new and old student councils’ orientation.
Incidentally, the sender was Kazuma, also known as the Crimson Knight, so it was nothing but a self-staged act.

“I don’t know anything.”
“…I see. Well, I won’t ask any more about it.”

He didn’t know why the Crimson Knight would go out of his way to help with the academy’s orientation, but he couldn’t very well refuse such a kind offer, so the Headmaster told Kazuma the contents of the envelope.

“Actually, there’s been a request from the government. They’re asking us to use Hawaii for this year’s new and old student councils’ orientation.”
“Seriously?! Isn’t that the best!!!”
“These are the documents.”

Kazuma received the documents from the Headmaster and, pretending not to know, made a show of carefully reading through them.

“Hmm, hmm! The government will cover all expenses! And what’s more, the King, the Witch, and the Holy Maiden will be coming as escorts, that’s amazing!”
“Yes. It truly is amazing. If possible, I’d like to go myself.”

Unfortunately, the Crimson Knight would be chaperoning the student council, so no one from the academy side could go this time, much to the dismay of most of the teachers.

“We tried to suggest sending at least one chaperone from our side, but they wouldn’t agree.”
“That’s too bad. But don’t worry! I’ll have enough fun for all the teachers too!”
“I’m envious. Don’t forget your duties as students, and make sure to enjoy yourselves thoroughly.”
“Yes! Is that all?”
“Mm. You should return to the student council room with the documents. They probably won’t believe it with just words.”

Kazuma received the documents from the Headmaster and left the Headmaster’s office.
On his way back from the Headmaster’s office to the student council room, Kazuma skipped, pleased that everything had gone well.
Then, he threw open the door to the student council room with great force and, in a state of feverish excitement, shouted at the top of his lungs.

“This year’s orientation destination has been decided—!!!”

Kazuma slid into the student council room as if gliding across the floor, raising the documents aloft and cheering “Banzai!”
Everyone in the student council room stared wide-eyed at Kazuma’s excessively high spirits.
After a moment, Yukihime, noticing the documents Kazuma was holding up, asked what they were.

“Fufufu, good of you to ask! This here lists the destination for our orientation training camp. So, I’ll pass it to our secretary, Yukihime-senpai.”
“Eh, ah, yes.”

Yukihime took the documents passed to her by Kazuma, and as she read the contents, her eyes widened in understandable surprise.
She looked at Kazuma’s face repeatedly, as if to confirm whether what was written in the documents was true.

“It’s totally for real. Be happy.”

Convinced by looking into Kazuma’s eyes that he wasn’t lying, Yukihime gulped and made a copy of the documents.
Of course, copying the documents was permitted, so there was no problem.
To begin with, these were very valuable documents from the Crimson Knight, so there was also the thought that the original had to be carefully preserved.
However, since the Crimson Knight was Kazuma, there wouldn’t be any particular problem even if the documents were shredded.

“I’ll distribute the materials now. I think you’ll be surprised, but it seems to be true, so please don’t doubt it.”
“Hmm. For Yukihime to say that much… Could it be Okinawa, which they say was recently restored?”

As Karin looked at the materials Yukihime distributed, full of expectation, she nearly rolled her eyes back at the outrageous content.

“Wh-wh-wha…?!”
“Ooh…!”
“Seriously…?!”

Naturally, it wasn’t just Karin who was surprised; the other student council members like Kaede and Taiga were also greatly astonished.
Hayato and Shiori, watching this, couldn’t help but be curious and pleaded to be shown as well.

“That’s quite a reaction.”
“Show us too.”

So, Yukihime handed the materials to them as well.
Hayato and Shiori received the materials from Yukihime and, reading the contents with excitement, cried out in surprise when they saw the words “Invitation to Hawaii.”

“”Eeeeeeeeeeeeh~~~?!””

This might be exactly what you’d call earth-shattering, the two of them thought.
Since the event had always been held in the area belonging to the academy that won the Academy Battle Tournament, anyone would likely have the same reaction to suddenly being told it was overseas.

“K-Kazuma-kun! You said you decided it on your own, but how did you decide this? No matter how I think about it, it’s just too unreasonable!”
“Well, you see, it’s because I’m best friends with the Crimson Knight.”
“No, I admit we met during the terrorist incident that occurred after the Academy Battle Tournament, but there wasn’t enough time to become close friends, was there!?”
“Apparently, my performance in the Academy Battle Tournament made him interested in me.”
“I see. That certainly makes it plausible. But would he invite us to Hawaii just for that?”
“Taiga-senpai. Didn’t I tell you? The Crimson Knight and I are besties for life.”
“You said ‘close friends’ just a moment ago, and now it’s ‘besties for life’…”
“Don’t sweat the small stuff! This is a kindness from the Crimson Knight, so let’s just be happy about it! We get to go to Hawaii, you know? To one of the world’s leading resort destinations, which had been a den of Ibinom for over a hundred years!”

Although there were many things they wanted to ask, just as Kazuma said, they were going on a trip—albeit for a training camp—to a world-famous resort destination. There was no way they wouldn’t be happy.
The student council members felt grateful to the Crimson Knight and decided to express their gratitude if they ever had the chance to meet him.
