Rogue Prince – Chapter 15

“Gefuuu… Th-thank you… very much… (thud)”

Three months have passed since I exchanged engagement vows with Alexandra.
Today, I finished what could only be described as torture training, and unleashed the death cry ‘Gefuuu’ that Harold emitted when he was defeated in “EnHaza.”

“Prince Harold, you’ve improved considerably. At this rate, no ordinary person will be able to inflict even a scratch on you,”

Alexandra looked down at me with a cool expression, wiping sweat from her brow.
She had thoroughly trained my defensive capabilities, following my order to “gain the strength to protect.”

First, to acquire the minimum necessary basic physical strength, I started with training to run away from Demon Beasts released into the Training Grounds, then training to climb the highest tower in the Royal Palace on my own and escape from the Demon Beasts approaching from below, and even training to be thrown into a pond and swim away from the water Demon Beasts. All I did was run away.

Once that was over, it was defense training to avoid, dodge, and block Alexandra’s rapid sword strikes. This was incredibly tough.
After all, I couldn’t keep up with her movements, and each strike was powerful. Just a slight graze would send me rolling on the ground in agony.

More than anything.

“But, I can’t even defend against thirty percent of your attacks…”

Yes… my achievements over these three months amounted to that much.
Thanks to that, I’ve become much more resilient than before.

“Prince Harold, please be confident. Aside from my father, there is no one in the Duke Chevalier family who can defend against even thirty percent of my sword strikes.”
“Ah, haha…”

It seems she’s trying to comfort me, but I wonder if I should be happy…

“However, what concerns me is that while it is good to devote so much time to training in Martial Arts, I worry that you may be neglecting your studies…”
“Ah… that’s not a problem.”

I replied to Alexandra, who looked worried, in a listless voice while lying on my back.
In fact, after regaining my memories from my previous life, I took a tutoring session, but the content was only at the elementary school level, except for history.

I’m only thirteen years old, so I think it will become more difficult as I get older, but in any case, as a former university student, there isn’t a single problem I can’t solve.
Once, I answered all the questions given by the tutor correctly, and he was dumbfounded… especially considering how terrible the previous Harold was.

“If that’s the case, then that’s good…”

Even so, she still frowned with concern.
To reassure her, maybe I should take a class with her if I have the chance.

“Then, let’s end today’s training here. I look forward to working with you again tomorrow.”
“Y-yes…”

Alexandra bowed and left the Training Grounds to change.
Alright, I need to change too.

Unable to stand due to fatigue and damage from the training, I crawled towards the exit of the Training Grounds as usual.

“Prince Harold, Young Lady. Excuse me.”

After bathing and changing, Monica, my Personal Maid, poured tea into cups for Alexandra and me, who were sitting facing each other on the terrace of the garden.
By the way, after Marion was assigned to Wilfred, Alexandra dispatched her from the Chevalier family for me, as I was without a Personal Maid.

Apparently, she is the daughter of Baron Ashton, who has served the Chevalier family for generations, and is very talented.
Aside from that, with her flax-colored bobbed hair and hazel eyes shining behind her glasses, and her well-defined features, she is as beautiful as the heroines of “EnHaza,” but she doesn’t appear in the game at all.

I can’t help but think that there are only beautiful women in this world.
However.

“If I receive such passionate gazes from you, Your Highness, I might accidentally nibble (……) on you.”
“Eh!? M-Monica!”

Alexandra stood up and raised her voice at Monica, who put her index finger to her mouth and smiled.
Well, the flaw is that she teases me and her master like this at every opportunity.

“Haa… never mind. More importantly, although it’s late to ask, are you really sure about that… thing (..)?”
“Of course. The strength I desire is exactly that (..).”

Alexandra has asked me this many times, but I have no regrets.
Yes… the weapon I chose to survive in this world of “Engage Hazard” was, among many others such as swords, spears, bows, and maces, a Shield (・).

Yes, I know there’s the comment, “Isn’t a shield just armor?” but in “EnHaza,” it exists as a proper weapon card.
So, in the combat part, when performing physical attacks, the character swings the shield like a sword.

Anyway, for the purpose of “protecting myself and the important woman (person) in my life,” there is no better weapon.

“So… am I going to be okay…?”

I looked up at Alexandra with upturned eyes as she sipped from her cup.

“…If you allow Monica and me to accompany you, I think it will be fine.”
“Ah! Thank you very much!”

I was so happy to have her permission that I bowed my head repeatedly.
With this, I can obtain it.

–Not the useless “Scythe of the Grim Reaper,” but my own exclusive weapon.
