Rogue Prince – Chapter 28

“Welcome, everyone, to this gathering.”
“Eh!?”

Ehh… Why is Frederica coming to greet me…?

I hastily looked around, but Cardis was nowhere to be seen.
I wanted to sigh in relief at that, but then again, where did he go, leaving his fiancée alone?

“U-Um, thank you for inviting me today. This is…”
“Lady Alexandra, thank you for coming.”
“Thank you for inviting me.”

Before I could introduce them, the two exchanged cheerful greetings.
Well, they’re both from ducal families, and Sandra sent an invitation, so it’s not strange that they know each other.

“Speaking of which… I heard you two are engaged.”
“Yes. Thanks to that, I was able to get engaged to such a wonderful person.”
“Congratulations.”

Seeing Sandra place her hand on her chest and smile sincerely, Frederica returned the smile.
However, I didn’t miss the slight twitch of Frederica’s thin eyebrows for even a moment.

Well, since I’m secretly called the “Incompetent Rascal Prince,” I can understand why she might tilt her head at Sandra’s excessive praise. I also tilt my head sometimes.

“Then, I’ll go greet the other guests.”

Frederica gracefully curtsied and left the spot.

“…Why isn’t Prince Cardis by Lady Frederica’s side?”

Sandra muttered, watching Frederica as she spoke to other guests.
Her Sapphire Eyes faintly filled with anger.

“I don’t know… but I can say this much. At tonight’s Party, I will never leave your side.”
“Ah… fufu, thank you.”

As I said that, Sandra’s beautiful face blossomed into a smile.
In the first place, the only people I know in the venue besides Sandra and Frederica are Cardis, Wilfred, and her.

Huh?
Come to think of it, I’ve already greeted Frederica, so there’s no need for me to be here anymore, right?

“U-Um… I’ve already accomplished my goal, so if you’d like, we could go back to the Royal Palace…”
“Eh…?”

I tried suggesting that, but Sandra’s eyes widened and her face turned pale.
Erm… Does she still want to enjoy this Party…?

“A-Ah, no, of course, we can continue to enjoy it.”
“Y-Yes. It hasn’t even been ten minutes since it started.”

Sandra really seems to want to stay here longer.
Indeed, today is the first time we’ve attended a Party together as fiancée and fiancé. In other words, this is also a place for us to show off.

Haa… And yet, I was so focused on not wanting to meet the characters from EnHaza that I was neglecting the feelings of the most important person to me.
That’s why I was a lonely virgin in my previous life…

“Um… I’m sorry. As you know, I have many shortcomings, so please feel free to point them out at any time…?”
“There’s no way Lord Hal, who cares so much about me and understands me so well, could have any shortcomings. I am truly happy to be engaged to you.”

Sandra looked at my face and gave me a radiant smile.
Seriously, why wasn’t such a wonderful woman the main heroine? And why could Harold from EnHaza break off his Engagement with her? That’s just too stupid.

Then.

“Ah…”

The orchestra began to play music in the venue.
It seemed the Dance time was about to begin.

Then.

“It’s Prince Cardis and Lady Frederica…”
“Yes…”

The ones dancing the First Dance were, of course, Frederica, the star of today, and her fiancé, Cardis.
I don’t know where he had been, but it seemed he had joined Frederica at some point.

But… as expected of the rival character and heroine from EnHaza, their dancing is quite impressive… wait.

“Sandra…?”
“U-Um, I also…”

She grabbed the hem of my jacket and fidgeted, her ears turning bright red. Seriously, isn’t this a foul?
Of course, I know what she wants from me, but the problem is that, including Harold before I regained my memories from my previous life, I’ve never properly danced or even learned how to dance.

In other words, this is an event to lower Sandra’s affection level. What should I do?
But her eyes, looking up at me, are filled with passion, and there’s no way I can refuse her Dance. I’m cornered.

But.

“U-Um… I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never danced at a Party before, and I haven’t seriously learned at the Royal Palace either… B-But! Even so, I want to Dance with you… S-So, with me…”

I really only know the Oklahoma Mixer I danced at my middle school sports festival, so what am I getting so worked up about?
At worst, I’ll end up embarrassing Sandra.

Even so, I thought I should invite her to Dance… No, that’s not it, I wanted to invite her.

I cautiously peeked at Sandra’s expression.

“Please don’t worry, I will lead. Lord Hal.”

Her cheeks flushed red, she shyly placed her small hand on mine.
Me? Well, I was so happy that I felt like jumping up on the spot.

After all… my favorite fiancée had happily accepted my invitation, even though I’m such a hopeless case.

“It looks like their Dance has just ended.”
“Y-Yes! Then, let’s go!”
“Fufu… Yes!”

I was so happy that my voice cracked, and I was breathing quite heavily.
Seeing me like that, she chuckled and, together with her, I headed towards the center of the hall, replacing Cardis and the others… but.

“That is…”

Sandra frowned, looking at the two men and women heading towards the center as if they had timed it perfectly.

Ehh… Why are Wilfred and her… Marion, barging in at the same time…?
