Rogue Prince – Chapter 50

“I wonder if it’s finally okay to move on to the next thing.”

The night after Sandra and Marion’s match, I muttered this while lying on my bed.
By “next thing,” I meant, of course, the next menu item in the “Harold Nurturing Plan.”

Through my daily special training with Sandra, my physical stats have maxed out, and I’ve also obtained the “Jet-Black Shield Caspary.”
What I need next is to further boost my physical and magical defense.

For that,

“A ‘Title’ is absolutely necessary.”

This “Title” was a new character enhancement system implemented three months after the release of “Engage Hazard.”
It could be obtained by clearing scenarios called “Title” quests, and it was designed to allow players to customize their favorite heroines to their liking.

Of course, it was a so-called desperate measure, considering the overwhelmingly poor sales compared to other smartphone games.

The “Title” system was quite innovative, and as a heavy user like me, I was very grateful for it, but unfortunately, it had already been labeled as a “crappy game specialized in squeezing money from users,” so no one paid attention to it despite its implementation.

In the end, the introduction of the “Title” system didn’t serve as a catalyst for recovery, and the service ended miserably three months later.

So,

“H-Hal… are you really going in there…?”

We arrived at the entrance to an ancient Labyrinth deep beneath the Royal Palace.
You can only reach it by uncovering hidden doors and mechanisms.

Seriously, it was so hard to find.
In “EnHaza,” being a game, you could just select the “Title” quest and start right away, but this world isn’t so convenient, so I had to find the entrance myself from scratch.

However, I was able to predict it to some extent from the event backgrounds and the heroines’ lines, so I managed to find it somehow.

“W-Well, let’s bring Sandra and Monica too…”
“Hmm… I’d love to, but…”

There’s a reason why I didn’t bring them along.
The truth is, once you acquire a “Title,” you can’t change it.

Regarding this, I also complained in my previous life, “The management should think more!” Seriously, they’re not thinking from the user’s perspective…

Well, the “Title” I’m about to obtain is definitely good for those two, but there are even more suitable “Titles” for them, so I’m planning to have them acquire those.

“Well, sometimes it’s just the two of us, partner… no, one person and one animal. Anyway, I want to conquer this place with you.”
“! E-hehe, I see… then it can’t be helped.”
“Yeah. So, this is a secret just between me and Caz.”
“Got it!”

With that one word from me, Caz’s mouth was all smiles.
Yeah, she’s still easy to please.

“Alright, let’s go.”
“Okay!”

To obtain the “Title” we were aiming for, Caz and I stepped into the Labyrinth.

“Caz, to the upper right!”
“Roger! 【Snatch】!”

Had it been two hours since we entered the Labyrinth?
Sensing an attack from the Demon Beast “Vampire Bat” nesting here, I turned my Shield towards it, and Caz unleashed 【Snatch】.

Then, the Vampire Bat suddenly stopped flapping its wings and fell to the ground with a thud.
Caz’s 【Snatch】 seems to have a high probability of instant death if the target Demon Beast is small, and coupled with the fact that it’s a straight path, we were progressing through the Labyrinth faster than I had expected.

“Haa… we’ve walked quite a bit, so we should be reaching our destination soon.”
“Really?”

At my words, Caz’s golden eyes sparkled.
She seems to hate this Labyrinth from the bottom of her heart.

“I mean, we’ve been in here for two hours already, so stop being scared and get used to it.”
“W-What are you talking about, nya?”
“It’s no use trying to play dumb by adding ‘nya’ to the end of your sentences. I know you’re scared of this Labyrinth, Caz.”

I wonder how a Demon Beast can be afraid of a Labyrinth? But Caz is still a kitten, so it can’t be helped.
She doesn’t admit that she’s scared, though.

“Anyway, we need to get what we came for to get out of here.”
“Uuu…”

Caz was about to burst into tears, so I quickened my pace.
Along the way, the Vampire Bats were still annoying, but no particularly strong Demon Beasts appeared, so there were no particular problems.

And then,

“This Door…”

A Door that always appears when progressing through “Title” quests.
Beyond this lies the quest boss.

“Alright… let’s go!”
“! Okay!”

I opened the Door with a bang and entered.

“Gugyururururururu…”

What appeared was the guardian of the Labyrinth, the “Leo Golem.”
