“Lord Hal, I’ve been waiting for you.”
Sandra greeted me at the entrance when I arrived at the Chevalier family’s Townhouse.
But… is my fiancée an angel? No, maybe a goddess.
I mean, she’s wearing a silver dress and looks so divine! It’s so dazzling I can barely open my eyes.
Why isn’t Sandra, who is this wonderful, a heroine in ‘EnHaza’?
Well, thanks to that, she wasn’t touched by scum like Wilfred and remains my fiancée.
“Thank you for inviting me today. I have been looking forward to this day from the bottom of my heart.”
“Oh, my…”
Yes, that’s a lie.
I’m thrilled to meet my favorite fiancée, but the thought of having to face Duke Chevalier has given me a stomachache for the past ten days.
But, if I can see Sandra blushing and smiling happily, I’ll tell as many lies as it takes.
“Come now, Father and Mother are waiting inside the mansion. Please, this way…”
“A, before that!”
I took out the Sapphire Ring I had prepared.
“U, um… this, well, we are fiancées, and, you are my fiancée, so, um, well…”
Oh geez, what am I even saying?
The words I thought so hard about for today aren’t coming out at all. What a clunker.
“S, so! I want you to wear this ring!”
I skipped over everything and just blurted it out with momentum.
That’s what I wanted to ask in the end, so I guess it’s fine. No, it’s not fine. I’ve ruined the atmosphere and situation completely.
But.
“This… for, me…?”
To Sandra’s question, her ears bright red, I nodded as strongly as I could.
I’m glad my feelings seemed to have gotten through…
I gulped, took her left hand, and…
“Ah…”
Gently, I slipped it onto her slender ring finger… what!?
“Whoa!?”
“Lord Hal… I’m so happy… I’m so happy…”
Sandra jumped into my chest, burying her face.
Her shoulders were trembling slightly, so she seemed to be crying.
“I’m, I’m glad you’re pleased.”
“Of course. Of course. There’s nothing that could make me happier.”
Sandra looked up at me from my chest, her Sapphire Eyes filled with tears.
They were sparkling and so beautiful, I felt like I was being drawn in…
“Ahem!”
“Eh!?”
…Cedric interrupted, ruining everything.
◇
“…You should have waited quietly inside.”
“I came to see what was taking you two so long.”
As we walked through the mansion, Cedric, unable to bear Sandra’s reproachful glare, answered while looking in the opposite direction.
But Cedric, you were planning to interrupt us from the start, weren’t you? I didn’t miss the moment you smirked in triumph.
“Come now, Father and Mother have been waiting eagerly.”
“Y, yes.”
Finally, I stood in front of the room where Duke Chevalier and his wife were waiting, straightening my back.
I was so nervous that my throat was parched and I couldn’t stop sweating.
“Lord Hal, there’s no need to worry. Father… well, aside from him, Mother has really been looking forward to meeting you, Your Highness.”
I guess that’s supposed to be a follow-up, but that information is putting even more pressure on me.
What if they have such high expectations and are disappointed when they actually meet me?
And then.
“Oh my! Prince Harold, welcome! I am Norma.”
“A… I, I am Harold! Thank you for inviting me today, I am honored, shuh!?”
I introduced myself to Sandra’s mother, Madam Norma, who greeted me with a beaming smile, but my voice cracked and I stumbled over my words, making the worst possible first impression. Damn it.
“Please, don’t be so nervous. More importantly, please come this way.”
“Y, yes. Excuse me.”
I was led by Madam Norma and took a seat.
“…………………………”
…Yes. Duke Chevalier, with a sullen look on his face, was glaring at me with his arms crossed. It was unbearable.
And, to make matters worse, Cedric was sitting next to him, staring at me in a two-man formation. Stop looking at me.
“Father, Brother. Why are you giving my Lord Hal such looks?”
“Eh!?”
The moment Sandra smiled and said that with an absolutely frigid gaze, the color drained from their faces. Apparently, these two can’t stand up to Sandra. My favorite fiancée is the strongest in the Chevalier family.
“Well, you’ll understand when you have children with Prince Harold. So, don’t make such a face.”
“Eh!? Mother!?”
Sandra’s face turned as red as a boiled octopus at Madam Norma’s outrageous statement. It seems my assessment was wrong; Madam Norma was the strongest in the Chevalier family.
