After parting ways with Kaim, we sprinted back to Euron. Without encountering any trouble, we arrived at the Adventurers’ Guild just before evening, where we greeted the receptionist, Mariane.
“Welcome back, Soushi-san. Were you able to defeat the ‘Gigant Viper’?”
“Yes, without any issues. I’ve stored the carcass in my Item Box, so please allow me to deliver it to the dismantling area. I also have another matter to report, so I need to give this to the Guild Master.”
I handed her a sealed envelope.
Actually, when I spoke about the eerie monster at the Tolson Guild, they asked me to report it to Euron. It seemed that the Tolson Guild couldn’t handle the case, so they entrusted me with a letter.
“The carcass…? Understood. Please take the materials to the dismantling area. I will deliver this letter to the Guild Master.”
“Got it.”
With that, we headed towards the training and dismantling area.
I called out to one of the male staff members working inside a prefab hut at the edge of the square.
“Excuse me, I’d like to deliver and dismantle the ‘Gigant Viper.'”
“Huh? Oh, got it… Huh? You’re delivering the ‘Gigant Viper’?”
“Yes, it’s in my Item Box.”
“In your Item Box…? So, it’s just a part of it? Well, whatever, just bring it out to the square.”
Following his instructions, I retrieved the carcass of the ‘Gigant Viper’ from my Item Box. Since time doesn’t pass inside the Item Box, it was still fresh. However, extracting a 20-meter-long creature was quite a task.
When I called out, “I’ve brought it out,” the staff member emerged from the prefab.
“Let’s see… W-what!? You brought the whole thing!? And it’s quite a big one too. You really went all out.”
Seeing his wide eyes, it was clear that bringing the entire giant creature from the Item Box was indeed extraordinary. Sfenia had mentioned the same.
“This is going to be quite the job. But it’s rare to see a ‘Gigant Viper’ in such pristine condition… So, you took it down with a single blow to the head, huh?”
“That’s right.”
“Wow, you have some skill. Alright, I’ll take this. Here, take this.”
He handed me a wooden tag with a number on it, likely a receipt for the exchange.
As I received the tag, Mariane approached, momentarily shocked at the sight of the ‘Gigant Viper’s’ carcass before quickly regaining her composure.
“The Guild Master would like to speak with you. This way, please.”
After greeting the dismantling staff with a polite “Thank you,” we followed Mariane.
This was my second time meeting the Guild Master of Euron. After I detailed the incident regarding the monster in the conference room, the handsome middle-aged man with blond hair parted to the side frowned thoughtfully.
“I’ve never heard of such a monster. If your story is true, it seems to resemble none of the monsters previously documented.”
“I believe so too. I’ve also heard it resembles a ‘demon’ described in the scriptures of the Arshuram Religion.”
“Hmm…”
As he said this, the Guild Master glanced at Freinir. It seemed he was aware of the ‘Saint.’
“It’s unfortunate that no part of the carcass remains, but the Adventurer Card does indeed record the defeat of an unidentified monster. Given this magic stone, it’s clear that your report is not false. Other parties have also confirmed its existence, correct?”
“Yes. The party called ‘Ginrin’ from Tolson reported it earlier.”
“Understood. We’ll take care of this matter. However, regarding this magic stone, I can’t determine its value yet, or even if it has any value at all. Therefore, based on its size, we’ll classify it as a B-Rank monster’s magic stone and purchase it at the standard rate. If it turns out to be worth more, we’ll assess the difference and provide you with the additional amount. It’s also possible that it may not have any value, but that would likely be due to interference from the national research institutions. In that case, you’ll have to settle for the standard amount.”
“I understand.”
If the kingdom intervenes, commoners like us would have no way to contest it. However, normally, they wouldn’t just take it for free to maintain the royal family’s dignity.
“Mariane, please record this as an achievement for defeating a B-Rank monster and convert it into points for promotion. I noticed earlier that any adventurer capable of crushing the head of that ‘Gigant Viper’ should quickly be promoted to C-Rank.”
“Understood. I believe Soushi-san will likely be promoted to C-Rank due to this incident.”
It felt inappropriate for her to say that in front of me, but…
Looking at my party members beside me, all three nodded in agreement, so it seemed I indeed had that capability, probably.
After leaving the Guild Master’s office, we proceeded to the lobby counter to handle the reward collection. The dismantling of the ‘Gigant Viper’ would take until night, so the related processing would be combined with my promotion and handled the following day.
The next day at the guild, Mariane informed me of the purchase price for the ‘Gigant Viper’ and my promotion to C-Rank.
Regardless of the rank, the purchase price for the ‘Gigant Viper’ exceeded 10 million Rom, leaving everyone astonished.
“Delivering such a large specimen whole is unprecedented in Euron. Moreover, the skin and meat were nearly undamaged and in excellent condition.”
I had previously heard from Kisara that the meat of field monsters sells for a high price, and it seemed that this held true even for a giant snake.
But 10 million… Well, considering the tuna fishing from my previous life, it might not be impossible.
Now, I was finally able to challenge C-Rank Dungeons, but first, I needed to conquer another D-Class Dungeon in Euron.
With 15 floors, it was the most challenging among D-Class Dungeons, and it seemed that the party Sfenia had previously formed had given up here.
To tackle it without overexerting ourselves, we would need to stay for two nights, so today we decided to go shopping for necessary supplies.
As the four of us walked down the street, we spotted a carriage parked in front of a certain shop. Surrounding it were four members of the C-Rank party ‘Fortuner.’ The atmosphere suggested that an important figure was inside the carriage, with ‘Fortuner’ acting as guards.
Thinking it might be inappropriate to speak while they were working, I attempted to pass by, but the leader, Zeal, called out to me.
“Hey, Soushi, have you added more members again?”
“Ah, Zeal. Yes, this is Sfenia. Nice to meet you.”
Sfenia gave a slight bow. Zeal then looked at me with a knowing expression.
“You’ve caught another beautiful lady, huh? Your party stands out even from a distance. You better be careful, or you might attract some jealousy.”
“I’ve already experienced that once. I just became a C-Rank, so I hope that will provide some reassurance if it gets known.”
“Oh? You just became a D-Rank the other day, right? Did you pull off something again?”
The “something” he referred to must be the Goblin King incident, but I indeed felt there had been a lot of trouble lately.
“Well, I’ve taken down a few big ones… just the other day, I defeated a monster equivalent to B-Rank.”
Upon hearing this, Zeal whistled in admiration.
“That’s impressive! The guild can’t keep you at D-Rank anymore. While it may reduce jealousy, be prepared to be worked harder in return.”
His words carried a sense of reality, but perhaps the carriage escort they were currently engaged in was one of those “worked harder” tasks.
“Oh? Is that you, Soushi?”
At that moment, a figure emerged from the shop and called out to us. It was Shizuna, an adventurer from the Oz Country, dressed in a priestess-like outfit with black hair.
Her status was currently under the care of Viscount Barius, and she was supposed to be heading to the royal capital soon for verification with a magical tool.
“It’s been a while, Shizuna. Are you perhaps heading to the royal capital?”
“Yes, that’s what I’ve heard. I’ve gotten myself into a troublesome situation, but well, it’s not bad to travel to the royal capital of this country by carriage.”
“I see. It will be a long journey, so please take care.”
“Yes, Frei and the others have also been a great help.”
Shizuna exchanged a few words with Freinir and the others before being prompted by a female soldier to board the carriage. Since her status was still that of an “important witness,” she likely couldn’t act too freely.
Zeal watched our interaction with a hint of surprise, but once Shizuna returned to the carriage, he seemed to switch back to work mode.
“I didn’t expect you to know her, Soushi. Well, we’re off to accompany a tour of the royal capital. If anything happens around here, your party will be an important asset, so stay safe.”
“Thank you. You all take care as well.”
After exchanging greetings, Zeal and his party moved towards the gate with the carriage. Given that Shizuna was clearly from another country’s noble class, Viscount Barius likely assigned the reliable ‘Fortuner’ as her escort.
However, if we aimed higher, it seemed we would eventually have to visit the royal capital as well. That thought was somewhat exciting. Since I had come to another world, I wanted to broaden my horizons.
