Tamer with Three Blessings – Chapter 62

Chapter 62: Royal Capital Langus

The town of Heinz, a four-day journey north from Brun. Being a territory adjacent to the Royal Capital, it had a lot of people coming and going, but there was trouble here too.
Even though Tamed Beasts are supposed to be able to accompany Adventurers, they wouldn’t let us into the town.
I thought about calling Bee-chan and threatening them, but since the Royal Capital Langus was next, I decided to skip Heinz.

Because of what happened in Heinz, I acted cautiously at the entrance to the Royal Capital Langus, but since bringing Beasts into the Royal Capital is forbidden, I was sharply told it was no good.
Having no choice, I turned back and decided to have Hoo-chan and the others wait in the Grassland.
The next day, I tried asking again at the Royal Capital’s entrance, holding Mii-chan.

“This is also a Beast, technically, but it’s Tamed and registered, so a kitten should be fine, right?”

I tried asking meekly, slipping a silver coin under my Guild Card.
Since Mii-chan is kitten-sized, far from an adult cat, they let me pass with a cough after pocketing the silver coin, but I guess that’s natural since there are tons of stray cats in the city.
I wondered if Hoo-chan could have gotten through if I’d slipped them a Gold Coin, but even if shrunk, Hoo-chan is conspicuous, so probably not.

I’d heard that the Moran Trading Company was at 22 Lawrence Street, so I decided to confirm the location at the Adventurers Guild, and while I was at it, dispose of my stock of Beasts.
When I entered the Guild with Mii-chan on my shoulder, here too, there were many guys staring at me and Mii-chan, then snorting with laughter.
There was a line in front of the purchasing counter, so I called out from the side, saying I had a large number and to let me go to the Dismantling Area.

“Hmm? Never seen your face before, you don’t just have Horned Rabbits or mice, do you?”

“I have Dog-types, Wolf-types, Horn Boars, and Buffalo, but should I line up and present them at the counter?”

“Ah, got it. Go on!”

The purchasing clerk pointed to a side passage, so I thanked him and went through.
Even though it’s the Royal Capital’s Adventurers Guild, perhaps there aren’t many big game around, as the Dismantling Area was only slightly larger than Zandra’s. A bored-looking dismantler saw me and approached.

“What did you bring?”

“It’s mostly Fang Dogs and Black Wolves, but the number might be a bit large.”

“Oh, that’s rare. Did you hunt them around the Royal Capital?”

“No, these are ones I hunted in the grasslands and forests on my way from Holm to the Royal Capital.”

“Alright then. Just lay them out appropriately.”

Taking him up on his offer, I took them out of my Magic Bag and started lining them up.

Fang Dog, 13
Howl Dog, 11
Black Wolf, 7
Horn Boar, 1
Buffalo, 2
Chiki-Chiki Bird, 2
Red Chicken, 2
Kokekko, 2
Sprint Bird, 2

“You have a Magic Bag, huh? Still, you’ve got some good skills. It’ll take a little time, so wait in the cafeteria.”

I left my Guild Card and went to the cafeteria, sitting at an empty table with an ale in hand.

“Hey, you. You stink of beast, go somewhere else!”

Oh my, aren’t you being quite direct.
When I turned around, a man about my age was glaring at me, his shoulders squared angrily. The men and women at his table were smirking.
It felt like they were making the underling pick a fight to test his courage.

“You think a kitten stinks? Are you a Medicinal Herb gathering specialist or something?”

“If you have a complaint, say it yourself instead of making your lackey do it, you scum!”

“Ho, listen to the Tamer who only has a cat as a Tamed Beast.”

“Enough with the pointless talk. I want to drink my ale in peace. Look down and shut up.”

I unleashed my killing intent towards the pack of scum, not breaking eye contact with the men.
The one who had replied so arrogantly managed to stand up, but his body was trembling, his legs gave out, and he couldn’t move any further.
The others were either cowering under the table or trembling with their heads down.
Even the people at the surrounding tables, who had been watching gleefully as the fight started, fell silent and averted their eyes from me.

“If you’re going to pick a fight, at least learn to gauge your opponent’s strength first.”

When I suppressed my killing intent and turned my back, they scrambled to their feet, chairs clattering, and fled the cafeteria.
However, the people who had been around me also moved to other tables, creating an empty zone around me.

I tried calling out to see if I could summon Bee-chan and the others, but there was no reply.
The Royal Capital is a large city, and the Adventurers Guild is about a 15 to 20-minute walk from the entrance.
It’s unlikely Bee-chan and the others would fly this far into the city where there’s nothing for them.
If I can’t count on Bee-chan’s support, I’ll just have to crush their spirits with King’s Pressure, and beat down anyone who pisses me off.

I received the appraisal sheet, glanced at it, acknowledged it, and said my thanks.

“Brother, the Chiki-Chiki Birds, Red Chickens, and such were all in pairs of two, can’t you hunt more?”

“I just brought them in to see what price the Royal Capital’s Guild would offer. The Chiki-Chiki Birds and Red Chickens are my livelihood, so if you want more, ask this one.”
I replied while petting Mii-chan on my lap.

He looked at Mii-chan with an exasperated expression, shook his head, and left.
On the appraisal sheet: Chiki-Chiki Bird, 2, 160,000 Dahla
Red Chicken, 2, 80,000 Dahla
Sprint Bird, 2, 110,000 Dahla
Kokekko, 2, 50,000 Dahla

Just the birds alone are 400,000 Dahla, and with the Beasts, it’s 1,730,000 Dahla, huh.
They’re buying the birds for 40% to 50% higher than in other towns.
Where people gather, there are many rich folks, and they don’t skimp on money for ingredients they like, I see. This might be a good place to earn money easily without overdoing it.

When I checked my deposited amount at the settlement counter, I had a little over 4,000,000 Dahla, so I had it all converted to cash, including the amount from the appraisal sheet.
Combined with the money I had on me, I should have around 10,000,000 Dahla, so I’ll be fine without working for a while.
After I sell the Honey to Milene-sama, I’ll spend some time sightseeing in the Royal Capital and then think about my future plans.

When I asked about Lawrence Street at the Guild, I was told it’s a high-class residential area in the center of the Royal Capital.
If someone shabby-looking approaches, Guards will come running immediately, so I was warned to be careful.
In other words, I need to go looking presentable, so I had them recommend a slightly better hotel and decided to stay there tonight.

First, I bought some slightly better off-the-rack clothes, and then headed to the recommended hotel. The Lansit Hotel on Rurient Street. It certainly didn’t look like a place an Adventurer could stay.
With Mii-chan on my shoulder, a young man wearing clothes that looked brand new arrived, so they asked cautiously, “Are you looking to stay?”

“I’d like to stay for two or three days, and tomorrow I want to visit the Moran Trading Company on Lawrence Street, so could you make arrangements?”

“If it’s arranging a carriage, that will be an extra charge of two silver coins.”

“Understood. I’d like to leave after breakfast, so please arrange it.”

“It’s two silver coins per night, and meals in the dining hall are charged separately.”

I paid eight silver coins, and a servant showed me to my room, but it seemed a tip was expected, a huge difference from the cheap inns Adventurers stay at.
It was more spacious than a business hotel, but the room only had two single beds, a table, and chairs. Royal Capital prices, I guess.

For the first time in a while, I ate in a place without Adventurers, enjoyed some alcohol, and slept in a bed.
The bustling presence of people bothered me, but that’s probably because my Presence Detection has improved.

While I was leisurely enjoying tea after breakfast, I was informed that the arranged carriage had arrived, so I availed myself of the hackney carriage.
The Moran Trading Company, located at 22 Lawrence Street. It was indeed a place where you’d likely be thrown out if you wandered around in adventurer attire.
I paid the hackney carriage driver a silver coin, and off to the Moran Trading Company.

I hesitated whether to go to the front or back entrance of the mansion, but since I’d heard it was something to be delivered to her friends, I decided to go to the front.
To the man waiting at the main entrance, I showed the card entrusted to me by Milene-sama and asked, “Please tell her Shinya has arrived.”
From the moment I showed the card, his suspicious air vanished, and I was invited into the entrance hall. He responded politely, “I will inform Milene-sama, so please wait a moment.” Indeed, I wasn’t being treated roughly.

After waiting for a while, Sebance the Butler appeared and told me, “The Mistress is waiting for you.”

“‘Mistress? Did she get married?'” I blurted out without thinking.

“No, no, it seems she dislikes being called Milene-sama, so we have been ordered to call her ‘Mistress.'”

Calling a woman by her first name seems to come with troublesome matters in any world. My deepest sympathies… I suppose.
I was ushered into the salon, but that surly old bastard was there too, wasn’t he?
Well, he’s the head of the house, so it’s natural for him to be here, but I’d completely forgotten.

“Chairman Moran, must I kneel, I wonder?”

“Shinya, that won’t be necessary. You are my equal trading partner. But before that, I have an apology to make.”

“An apology?”

“My father ended up telling them about the Nectar.”

“You mean the Flower Nectar?”
“That’s right, and at the Royal Castle, no less.”

This damn old bastard! I somehow managed to restrain myself from unleashing my killing intent and settled for just glaring at him, but he’s acting all nonchalant.

“At a tea party I was invited to by the Queen-sama, when the topic of tea and Nectar came up, Father boastfully spilled the beans. Moreover, before I could even stop him, he just blabbered on about how he’d present it as soon as he obtained it.”

“My Lady, I’d like to have a word with your father, so could you please excuse us for a moment?”

Perhaps sensing I was serious, she prompted Mina, who was sitting beside her, and said, “Please, go ahead,” with a sweet smile.
Mina was captivated by Mii-chan, so I sent her off with the mental instruction, 《Mii-chan, go play with Mina, okay?》.
I had the maids withdraw as well, and once it was just the damn old bastard and his guards, I unleashed my killing intent and King’s Pressure on them.

The damn old bastard let out a small yelp, turned deathly pale, and started trembling. I shot a glare at the guards standing by the wall.

“Adventurers are not your servants! You should have known that I have no intention of distributing the Flower Nectar. Do you think everything will just go your way?! Answer me!”
