The Disenchanted Summoner – Chapter 49

Chapter 49: The Third Princess-sama is a Big Deal?

“Alright. The sun’s gone down, so it’s about time to get started.”

I called out to Nara-kun, who was following behind me, but there was no response.

“Nara-kun?”
“…What is this? Teleportation Magic? Flight Magic? Maya-san, this is insane!”

Nara-kun was astonished that we had arrived right in front of Admos Capital in the blink of an eye using Teleportation Magic and Flight Magic.

“Surprise success, huh?”

“Of course it’s insane. I’m the only one who can use this magic in this world.”
“…How do you know such magic?”
“It was in the Magic Grimoire that the Demon Tribe who taught me magic had.”
“Just that… But if that’s how you learned it, can’t all the Demon Tribe use Teleportation Magic or Flight Magic? Why is it only Maya-san?”

Well, it’s only natural to find it strange.

“That Grimoire was considered a myth even among the Demon Tribe. Apparently, no one could actually learn it.”
“And yet, Maya-san managed to learn it…”
“Well, that’s the bonus of being in another world, right? It’s like the knowledge from my original world came in handy.”

When I said that, Nara-kun seemed to understand.

“So, going to high school helped you out, huh?”
“Pretty much.”
“Oh, but if that’s the case, then Oota could learn it too…”

Speaking of which, I heard that the other Summoner, Oota-kun, might be expelled soon.

If he survives, he might learn that magic too.

“Nah, I don’t think you need to worry about that.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“Because that Grimoire is gone.”
“Huh?”
“Plus, the rebellious Demon Tribe who taught me magic all died when they attacked the Royal Castle with me.”
“…What?”

Did they think they could become strong by watching my magic? They recklessly charged in and got themselves killed.

It felt like they left everything to me… but I wanted to say, “Hey, I’m a Summoner sent by the Human Tribe, so while our interim goal (defeating the Demon Tribe King) is the same, our ultimate goals are different,” but I didn’t say it.

“I heard from Meileen that after the previous king fell, there was an investigation into the hideout of those rebellious Demon Tribe members. Since the Grimoire found there was filled with forbidden magic, they apparently burned the hideout down.”
“That happened…?”
“Yeah. So, for now, I’m the only one who can use Teleportation Magic and Flight Magic. Oh, by the way, if you want to learn magic, Nara-kun, I can teach you.”
“Seriously!?”

Oops.

Nara-kun’s excitement was at a level I had never seen since we met.

I guess magic really is a boy’s dream.

“I’ll never betray you, Maya-san!”
“Alright, I get it. But you know what happens if you do betray me, right? You understand that better than anyone, don’t you?”

As I said that while staring into Nara-kun’s eyes, he began to sweat nervously.

“Of course… I would never betray you…”
“That’s good to hear. Now then, let’s start the infiltration operation into Admos Castle.”
“Yes!”

Hearing Nara-kun’s reply, I leaped over the castle walls, blending into the night.

Even with the physical abilities of the Human Tribe, climbing over these walls is no easy feat, so the guards around the walls were thin.

Just as Nara-kun had informed me from his time living in the castle, we easily made our way inside.

“Over there is our room, and this way is where the royal family resides.”
“Okay. I’ll cast a Soundproofing Magic too.”

I cast the Soundproofing Magic around us, ensuring that no sound would escape… meaning, even if we talked closely, we wouldn’t be noticed.

“…Maya-san, you’re really a cheat.”
“Just say it’s the result of hard work. I couldn’t use magic like this from the start.”

The only cheat is the sheer amount of magic power I possess.

“So? Are we going the right way?”
“Ah, yes. I’ve passed through here many times, so I remember.”
“Really, many times, huh?”

As I said that with a grin, Nara-kun didn’t panic but instead blushed.

“…Yeah.”
“What? You should say something like, ‘N-No, that’s not it!’ or something.”
“Well, I did end up in a relationship with Eva, so there’s no point in denying it.”
“I guess that’s true.”

It seems Nara-kun has had a girlfriend in his original world.

He must have moved past the stage of being flustered when someone teases him about her.

Boring.

“And besides, you and Maya-san have kids, right? Being around such mature people makes me feel like I look childish… so I’m trying not to act too much like a kid.”

I see.

“Well, don’t force yourself to grow up too much. That kind of thing can be tough.”
“Is that so?”
“Can’t you trust the words of someone who’s been there before?”
“…You have a lot of persuasive power.”

We walked down the castle corridor while chatting casually.

Using Detection Magic, I was able to hide whenever it seemed like we might encounter someone, and we arrived at a certain room without running into anyone.

“This is Princess Evangelin’s room.”
“Wait a moment.”

I stopped Nara-kun, who was about to knock, and cast Detection Magic inside the room.

It seemed there was only one person inside.

“Alright, Nara-kun. You can knock now.”
“Yes.”

Once I gave the go-ahead, Nara-kun knocked on the door.

“Yes?”
“Eva… it’s me, Mitsuhiko.”

…Oh, Mitsuhiko is Nara-kun’s name.

I had almost forgotten because Nara-kun was so easy to say.

As I was lost in such trivial thoughts, I heard a flurry of movement from inside the room, followed by the sound of the door unlocking.

At that moment, I activated the Soundproofing Magic.

Just as the door opened, a girl in a nightgown rushed out and hugged Nara-kun.

“Mitsuhiko-sama! Oh, I’m so glad you’re safe!!”
“…Sorry for worrying you.”
“No, no! I believed in you! I knew Mitsuhiko-sama would be safe… and that you would definitely come to get me!”

“Eva…”
“Ah, sorry to interrupt this lovely moment, but could we come in?”

If we stayed like this, it looked like we were about to witness a passionate love scene, so I intentionally stepped between the two.

“Huh!? W-Who are you!?”
“The previous Summoner. More importantly, if you keep doing that here, someone will see. Hurry and let us in.”
“Ah! Y-Yes!”

Princess-sama said that and pulled us into the room.

Then, as we sat on the sofa provided in the room, the princess looked at me with a puzzled expression.

“The previous Summoner… that would be Kenta Maya-sama, right?”
“Oh, you know me well.”
“Of course. You’re a celebrity…”

However, there was a hint of wariness on the princess’s face.

Nara-kun, sitting next to her, gently took her hand.

“Eva, first and foremost, I want you to listen to Maya-san’s story. Please judge her after that.”
“Mitsuhiko-sama… understood. I don’t know what the story is, but please tell me.”

With the princess’s consent, I recounted the same story I had told Nara-kun.

Her eyes widened when I spoke of being betrayed by Lindor, her expression turned furious when I described the false accusations leading to my execution, and she applauded when I escaped after causing half the capital to be destroyed. She was moved when I reunited with Meileen and became a couple.

What is with this girl?

Her emotions are so transparent, it’s hard to believe she’s royalty.

“So, if this continues, it seems I might be punished by your father. That’s why I’ve decided to stay with Maya-san.”
“Huh…?”

As Nara-kun revealed the main point to the princess, she widened her eyes and froze for a moment before her expression turned resolute.

“Mitsuhiko-sama.”
“Yeah?”
“Please take me with you!!”

Princess-sama firmly grasped Nara-kun’s hand and shouted that.

“I thought I called Mitsuhiko-sama here for the sake of this world, but to think it was for personal gain! I’m so disappointed in my father!!”
“…Is that okay? He’s your father, after all.”
“A man who sees Mitsuhiko-sama only as a tool for war is not my father at all!! Besides, he’s someone I hardly spent any time with since childhood. Mitsuhiko-sama is far more important to me!!”

Princess-sama readily accepted Nara-kun’s proposal.

Normally, I should be wary that it was too easy, but judging by her earlier display of emotions, she seems to be the type who can’t keep secrets.

I heard she’s the youngest princess, so she might have been spoiled growing up.

Thus, I interpreted that what Princess-sama was saying was her true feelings, and I spoke to her.

“Alright, sorry for the sudden request, but could you gather your things? Oh, and you can leave your clothes since my wife has some, and there’s no place to wear a dress. Just bring your cosmetics and any cherished mementos you want to take.”
“I understand! I’ll prepare it right away!”

With that, Princess-sama rang the bell set on the table.

“…Oh? The maid isn’t coming.”
“Seriously?”

This princess was about to run away from home, yet she wanted the maid to pack her things.

“Sorry, but no sound escapes this room. I used a spell for that. And seriously, trying to make the maid pack when you’re about to leave home?”
“Ah, that’s true.”

I thought I had spoken rather harshly to Princess-sama, but she seemed completely unfazed and started packing anyway.

Nara-kun began helping Princess-sama, so the packing was finished fairly quickly.

“Alright, could you change into the simplest dress for now?”
“Understood!”

Saying that, Princess-sama took Nara-kun’s hand and headed to the next room.

“Huh? Huh? Why?!”
“Mituhiko-sama, I can’t put on a dress by myself. Please assist me.”
“Uh… okay…”
“I can’t help with that. Just go.”
“Ugh… fine, I got it.”

And so, Princess-sama took Nara-kun with her to change.

Still, wow… she’s quite the extraordinary princess.

She doesn’t get angry at my complete lack of respect, listens to what I say, and maybe she actually understands the situation and is taking the best course of action?

Am I overestimating her?

Well, judging by her demeanor, she probably won’t feel stressed living at our place, so that’s good.

“Thank you for waiting!”

After a while, Princess-sama returned to the room.

She looked incredibly cheerful.

This girl is seriously something else.

“Alright. We’re heading home now. And… it was Evangelin, right?”
“Yes! Please call me Eva!”
“Okay, Eva. You’ll be living with Nara-kun at my house for a while, but we have two infants there, so it might get noisy. Is that alright?”
“Wow! Babies! This will be my first time seeing them up close!”

When I mentioned the infants, Eva looked genuinely excited, which was a good sign.

Looks like this won’t be a problem.

“Alright, let’s go… Nara-kun, what’s wrong?”

I called out to Nara-kun, who looked a bit dazed, and he snapped back to reality.

“N-no, I was just surprised that Eva isn’t scared of anything like this.”
“Well, it’s better than her whining about not fitting in.”
“True.”
“Okay, let’s go. Did you grab your things?”
“Yes!”
“Then both of you, hold onto my arm.”
“Got it.”
“Huh? Arm?”
“Just do as I say.”
“Okay!”

Eva obediently grabbed my arm as Nara-kun instructed.

Confirming that, I activated the Teleportation Magic.

“Teleport!”

And just like that, Princess Evangelin vanished from Admos Castle.

Tomorrow, this is going to cause quite a stir.

“Wow! This is amazing! This is amazing!!”

As I watched Eva, who was now at my house and bouncing with excitement thanks to the Teleportation Magic, I found myself lost in thought.

Yeah, I really might be overestimating her.
