The Disenchanted Summoner – Chapter 53

Chapter 53: Common Sense of This World

“Ouch…”

In the living room, Nara-kun was tending to his scrapes on the sofa.

After that, Nara-kun, who had been riding high on excitement, took to the Flying Board and ended up crashing spectacularly.

Seeing him tumble and roll across the ground, Eva turned pale, but Nara-kun just lay there laughing heartily, “Ahahaha!”

Honestly, I wondered if he had hit his head. It seemed that in this world, there was so little entertainment that it had been a long time since he had played like this.

He must have gotten carried away after having fun for the first time in ages.

“Hey, Maya-san! Can you use some magic to heal my wounds quickly?”

As he applied medicine to his injuries, Nara-kun called out to Maya-san.

Hearing that, I walked over to him and held my hand up in front of his face.

“Thanks!”

Thinking he was about to receive Healing Magic, Nara-kun tried to lower his head, but instead…

“Take that!”
“Guhah!!”

I flicked him hard on the forehead.

Receiving my full-powered flick, Nara-kun spun backward like a cartoon character and landed face down on the floor.

“Kyahahaha!”
“Ah, that’s right!!”

Leon and Aira found the scene amusing and clapped their hands, bursting into laughter.

Nara-kun, now lying face down like an infant, spread out his arms and legs.

“M-Mitsuhiko-sama!!”
“Ah, just leave him be. He’s got the Summoner bonus, so he’s stronger now. He won’t die from that.”
“W-Well, that may be true, but…”

Eva rushed over to Nara-kun, flustered as she stood beside him, who lay still on the ground.

It was clear he wasn’t dead since he was twitching, and besides, Nara-kun had brought this upon himself.

Eva probably understood that too.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so calm after seeing him get flicked hard enough to spin around; his neck could have easily snapped.

“It… hurts!! Hey!! What are you doing, Maya-san!?”

Ah, he’s back to life.

The Summoner bonus really is something else.

“So, Mona, how did it go for you? Do you think you can handle that thing?”
“Wait a minute!”
“Yeah, it seems like you need a bit more practice, but you should be able to ride it soon. Thank you.”
“Huh!?”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s just necessary expenses, necessary expenses.”

I’m the one who placed the order and received it, though.

“When we get to Admos, check out the Royal Castle and, if possible, find out about the other Summoner.”
“No way? Why are you ignoring me?”
“Understood. However, I don’t know what the other Summoner looks like.”
“Good point. Hey, Nara-kun.”
“Finally… finally, you’re looking at me…”

“What are you crying for?”

When I said that, Nara-kun glared at me with teary eyes.

“Because you’ve been ignoring me this whole time!!”
“Ignoring you? Oh, you mean that flick? That was punishment for saying something stupid. Don’t worry about it.”
“Don’t worry about it is something I should be saying!”

Shouting that, Nara-kun took a moment to catch his breath before looking at me.

“By the way, which part of what I said was stupid? I can’t think of anything!”
“It’s when you asked for Healing Magic for a scrape.”

Even as I said that, Nara-kun still didn’t seem to get it.

“Huh? But Maya-san can use Healing Magic, right? So a small wound can be healed in an instant with magic. What’s wrong with that?”
“Oh, right. You’ve only been here for a few months.”

“You’ve heard of natural healing and rapid recovery, right?”
“How rude. I know at least that much.”

Well, if he was in his second year of high school in his original world, he would know.

“If you rely too much on magic, your natural healing ability weakens. That’s why in this world, no one uses Healing Magic for scrapes.”
“I didn’t know that!”
“I see. And since you know that, Eva isn’t complaining either.”
“…That’s true.”
“Ah, haha. It was common sense for us, so I never thought Mitsuhiko-sama wouldn’t know.”

As Eva said this while cooling Nara-kun’s forehead with a wet towel, it was clear she knew what she was doing, opting for a wet towel instead of magic.

“Huh? But isn’t it strange that the Human Tribe can’t use magic? Yet it’s common sense not to use Healing Magic so easily?”
“Oh, I see where you’re coming from.”

“The Human Tribe can use magic too.”
“Huh?”
“They just aren’t good at it.”
“Is that so…”
“Well, it’s really just a minor effect. It’s quite common for those with relatively high Magic Power among the Human Tribe to work as doctors in town.”
“Really? Why’s that?”

In response to Nara-kun’s question, I made a ring with my thumb and index finger, palm facing up.

“Because it’s profitable. There are always injured and sick people, and the fees are negotiable. Those with high Magic Power flock to become doctors.”
“Is that how it is…”

By the way, what was I talking about again?

“Kenta-sama, since Mitsuhiko-sama is here, let’s hear about that other Summoner.”

Ah, right, right.

“Nara-kun, what does Ota-kun look like?”
“Ota? He has black hair and an ordinary face… I guess?”
“Not much of a description, huh?”
“Well, it can’t be helped. He was just someone I knew by name and face back in my original world, and since coming to this world, he’s been with girls all the time.”
“Is that so? Can you tell from that?”
“…Can’t you compare him to Kenta-sama?”
“Ah, he has a flatter face than Maya-san.”
“I see, got it.”
“Can you really tell from that?”
“Yes.”

Seriously?

The former intelligence officer is impressive.

Thus, after several days of practicing with the Flying Board and the walkie-talkie, Mona set off on the Flying Board towards Admos.

Now, what kind of report will come in?
