Chapter 214: Fire Drips, Becoming Drops, Pantile Gets Wet 8
*
Erica boasted to her heart’s content.
She boasted to her heart’s content about how amazing her Shin was.
She recounted how he had slaughtered Monsters, how he had survived the explosion in the Demon Realm, and told Jenniferlin, “See? Isn’t my Lord wonderful?”
It could also be said that she got a little carried away because the other person listened so happily.
It felt truly wonderful.
She even thought, “What’s this? Maybe Jenniferlin is actually a good person.”
That was until she was told not to forget that Shin’s beloved was the Maiden of Light.
While mentally bisecting Jenniferlin, Erica smiled back like a lady.
“Since she’s Shin’s friend, I’ll let it slide with just this mental image.”
“I am magnanimous, after all.”
And then, a thought struck her.
“No, could this actually be a chance?” she wondered.
Until now, she hadn’t been able to hear much about Shin’s academy days.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t interested, but she figured that if the topic of his academy days came up, stories about his best friend, the Maiden of Light, would undoubtedly come from Shin’s own mouth.
Erica wasn’t confident she could listen to that calmly.
However, if it was Jenniferlin talking about Shin, there should be less cause for concern.
Even if, by some chance, the topic came up, it shouldn’t be a problem if her expression twisted a little.
It was a bit infuriating to hear about him from this nuisance—or rather, her Lord’s old friend—who had suddenly appeared and wedged herself between them, but her curiosity won out.
“So then—”
Erica, who had opened her mouth, quickly closed it.
She could tell that suspicious gazes were being directed at her from those around, but Erica paid them no mind.
It seemed hearing about Shin’s academy days would have to wait for another time.
Shin was coming back.
Before Erica could announce it, Jenniferlin’s attendant let out a sound of understanding, like “Ah,” and Adventurer Maricia, Shin’s acquaintance, looked exasperated, wondering what kind of legs he had.
Before the other three, who were tilting their heads in confusion, could realize what was happening, Shin landed silently beside the Bonfire.
Only the sound of Shin’s usual attire, the Magic Tool cloak (Impane) with its temperature regulation function, rustling, remained in her ears.
As always, his control over Physical Enhancement was astounding. How many people could possibly match this?
Erica marveled at the Supreme Skill being calmly executed before her eyes.
“My” Lord is amazing. Shin is amazing.
And the moment Shin turned around, she wanted to embrace him.
What’s with that expression? What happened? What on earth could have hurt you so much?
Erica thought she had to embrace Shin before she burned the world to ashes.
Erica unerringly understood Shin’s face, which to an onlooker would likely appear merely expressionless.
This person is deeply hurt.
Seeing Shin’s face illuminated by the Bonfire’s light, Erica’s chest tightened.
“I see, so even a Solntsalri would want to embrace their beloved if they were hurt, before unleashing fire.”
Erica, who unhesitatingly followed her impulse, took Shin’s hand, and stood up to embrace him—
“Lady Erica, wait a moment.”
Upon hearing the voice, she thought, “Should I kill her?”
Seeing Erica turn around while mentally trisecting Jenniferlin, who had spoken to her, Shara swallowed a scream, and Yuunou-san (Maricia) covered Beardy’s (Drim’s) eyes with her hand.
“Oh, how scary, truly scary.”
With a wry smile and a lightness that made one doubt if she truly meant it, Jenniferlin muttered this and stepped before Shin, pushing past Erica.
Erica quartered Jenniferlin—in her mind.
“Shin.”
Jenniferlin speaking to him before she could. Perhaps she really should kill her? Erica seriously considered it.
“How many minutes do you need?”
So, she almost tilted her head at the words that followed.
“No, well, it’s fine. For you, three minutes should be plenty. The carriage is empty right now. As your employer, I’ll give you three minutes. Go fix your face.”
Shin gently touched his own face.
“Is my face that bad?”
“Trust the words of a friend. It’s not a face you should show your wife.”
Seeing Shin’s back as he replied with only, “I see,” and headed towards the carriage.
Erica keenly felt it.
She still knew nothing.
The relieved expression Shin had shown for just a fleeting moment at Jenniferlin’s words.
She almost bit her lip involuntarily.
Why couldn’t she have been the one to make him show that expression?
She wanted to burn herself to ashes before the world.
Erica lowered her gaze.
****Author’s Afterword****
Thank you always for your comments, likes, ratings, follows, etc.
They are a source of motivation for the author.
It’s been a while since the last update.
As those of you who have read my activity reports may know,
Currently, the author is without a desk, and my back is in a terrible state.
I know you must be wondering what I’m doing at such an important time before the release, but I’ve gone and done it lol.
No, but really, it’s not funny at all lol.
Be that as it may.
Currently, various pieces of information have been released.
Like the cover art of the super strong Erica-san, and the super strong Erica-san from the manga version.
Unfortunately, Shara’s visual, which made the author think “This is Shara-san!” at first glance, can only be seen if you purchase the book.
The release date is finally approaching, and the author is feeling giddy every day.
I don’t think it’s because of my back pain that I’m feeling giddy, though lol.
My desk environment should be set up by May 10th, so I think I’ll be able to update regularly again from then on.
I’m planning to introduce things like the parts that were changed for the book version in my activity reports, so if you’re interested, you can receive update notifications by following the author.
I hope you’ll consider it along with purchasing the book.
Well then, until the next update.
