Bachelor’s Isekai Reincarnation – Chapter 34

Chapter 34

The carriage arrived at the Royal Capital without incident.

My Aniki-sama and Ane-sama returned to the academy dorms.
I checked into an inn with my parents, sent one of the escort knights to the Royal Palace as an envoy, and would now wait to be summoned.

I had stored the study materials Ane-sama and the others had made for me in my Item Box and was studying.

I was working on magic circles.

This was one of the subjects I was focusing on in particular, as it hadn’t existed back in my game days.

Magic circles are inscribed on things like magic tools, allowing even those who can’t use magic to activate magical effects by channeling mana into them.

Their applications are diverse, ranging from those widely useful in daily life to those that assist in activating large-scale magic by having spells one normally couldn’t use pre-inscribed and preparing a catalyst.

What I was doing now was disassembling a complex magic circle drawn by Ane-sama and analyzing each of its effects.

“This magic circle here acts on this part, boosting and assisting the output, and this part here is…”

I didn’t just stop at disassembling it; having understood its meaning, I tried drawing it myself.

“This part goes like this. But it’d be simpler to use this here, wouldn’t it? And then, in this section where there’s some leeway, I’ll add this.”

I was casually improving the magic circle, but this was material covered in the advanced division.

“It’s done, but I can’t exactly test its effects in an inn room, can I?”

Looking out the window, I saw the evening sun streaming in.

I left my room and headed for the room where my Tou-sama and Kaa-sama were staying.

An escort knight was standing in front of their room.
After confirming that my Tou-sama and Kaa-sama were inside, I entered to find them relaxing and drinking tea.

“Claude, good of you to come. What were you cooped up in your room doing?”

“I was studying magic circles.”

Kaa-sama silently poured me some tea and gestured for me to sit, so I did.

“It’s good that you’re so diligent with your studies. About the audience, a carriage will come from the Royal Palace to pick us up tomorrow morning, and we’ll head there in it.”

“I’m sure you understand, but go to bed early after dinner. If you make any blunders, it will damage your Tou-sama’s reputation.”

“Yes, Kaa-sama.”

An escort knight came to call us, saying that dinner was ready.

We met up with Netzal-san and headed to the dining hall.

The menu featured many strongly flavored dishes that used spices with a heavy hand, and they didn’t suit my palate.

“It didn’t seem like you were eating much. Did it not suit your taste?”

“Yes. I haven’t had much experience with this kind of food.”

“I imagine you’ll have more opportunities for meals like this from now on, so you’ll just have to get used to it.”

“As long as you’re not feeling unwell, that’s fine. We’ll ask the inn staff to change your breakfast.”

With the audience finally happening tomorrow, I immediately lay down in bed and fell asleep.
