Bachelor’s Isekai Reincarnation – Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Claude excitedly started reading the book.

First, it was written that to use magic, one needed to undergo Baptism at the church.

“Baptism, huh? If I recall, I’m supposed to get it when I turn five, right?”

The inability to use magic without Baptism was like a safety measure to prevent inexperienced individuals from causing accidents.

“Let’s see… ‘Baptism is a ritual wherein one is acknowledged by God and bestowed with miracles. While differences in talent naturally exist, it is possible to bridge these gaps through daily effort, so one must not neglect their training,’ huh?”

I understood that I couldn’t use magic right away, but I continued reading the book anyway.

“‘Magic is broadly classified into four systems: Utility Magic, Offensive Magic, Healing Magic, and Support Magic. This book focuses primarily on Utility Magic,’ I see.”

After that, I continued to read the book with concentration.

Before I knew it, the evening sun was streaming into the room, and it was time for dinner.

I placed the book on the desk and headed to the dining hall.

When I entered the dining hall, my mother, Licia, and my father, Finel, were seated and waiting.

“Claude. Are you enjoying reading your book?”

As I took my seat, Licia-san asked with a gentle smile.

“Yes, Mother-sama. I can’t use magic yet, but it’s very interesting.”

“So, Claude is interested in magic, is he? You can’t use it until you undergo Baptism, but there’s no harm in acquiring knowledge. Make sure you read the other books properly too.”

“Yes, Father-sama.”

My parents were in high spirits to see their son, young as I was, learn to read early and start devouring books.

After finishing dinner, I returned to my room and started reading the book again, but after a while, a servant came to my room carrying a pile of books.

“Young Master. The Master of the house asked me to bring you these books.”

“Thank you. Just put them here.”

It seemed my father, Finel, figured it would be a pain for me to search for books in the study, so he’d selected some good ones for me to read and had them brought over.

“Please let us know when you are finished reading. We will clear these away and bring the next set of books.”

“Mm. Understood.”

“Well then, if you’ll excuse me.”

After confirming the servant had left, I looked over the titles of the books they had brought.

They included books I had been planning to look for after finishing the one I was currently reading, such as “The Tale of the Founding of the Kingdom,” “Beginner’s Offensive Magic,” and “Beginner’s Healing Magic.”

From that day on, encouraged by my mother, Licia-san, I spent a moderate amount of time playing in the garden while also reading books and accumulating knowledge.

And so, without suffering any major illnesses, I healthily and safely reached my fifth birthday.
