Chapter 9
“That should be enough running for now.”
“Yes.”
Although they had run a considerable distance, Claude still seemed to have plenty of stamina to spare.
“Next, let’s move on to sword practice.”
“Yes.”
Kallion handed Claude a wooden sword he had prepared.
“First, we’ll start with basic practice swings. I’ll demonstrate, so please try to swing it the same way.”
Kallion’s practice swings were quite accomplished, and Claude tried to swing by imitating what he saw.
When Claude swung the wooden sword, it made a whooshing sound, but Kallion offered corrections.
“Claude-sama. It’s impressive that you can swing at that speed, but you shouldn’t rely on brute force. When you swing down, please utilize centrifugal force.”
“Yes, Master.”
After that, Kallion continued to give advice as they repeated the practice swings together.
Kallion took a pocket watch from his breast pocket, checked the time, and spoke to Claude.
“Claude-sama. That’s all for the morning training. After lunch, I was thinking we could do some magic training. Would you be up for it?”
“Yes. I’m still perfectly fine.”
“Well then, I shall take my leave for now.”
After seeing Claude off as he returned to the mansion, Kallion also headed towards the mansion.
Of course, it was to report the results of Claude’s training to the Marquis.
He knocked on the door of the study, where the Marquis was likely working.
Upon hearing the Marquis’s voice granting permission to enter, he opened the door and stepped into the room.
“Excuse my intrusion. I’ve come to report on the results of Claude-sama’s training.”
“At ease. So, what were the results?”
“Pardon my bluntness, but he’s something of a monster. His fundamentals are completely lacking, yet his physical abilities are terrifying.”
“Is that so. To hear such words from you, who have trained so many…”
“I’m planning to have him practice magic this afternoon.”
“In that case, you may use the mansion’s training ground.”
“Thank you for your consideration.”
Claude changed his clothes in his room and then headed to the dining hall.
His mother, Licia, was already seated, and a little later, his father, Finel, also took his seat, and they began their meal.
“Claude. I was watching from the mansion. You’re working hard, aren’t you? You’re not overdoing it, are you?”
“Yes, Mother. It’s new and enjoyable.”
Perhaps because Kallion was an excellent instructor, Claude could feel himself gradually becoming more skilled with his swings, and he was thoroughly enjoying the training.
“Mm. Indeed, asking Kallion was the right decision. You’ll be practicing magic this afternoon, won’t you?”
“Yes, Father. I’m looking forward to it.”
Based on the knowledge from books and the images he had received during his Baptism, it seemed he would be able to use magic. However, since he had never actually cast a spell before, Claude was in high spirits, eagerly anticipating the afternoon’s training.
