Episode 65
I was found collapsed at my doorstep and taken to the hospital by ambulance, where I ended up being admitted.
After a week of recovery, I was discharged and promptly quit my job without returning.
I thought it was bad luck to be hospitalized as soon as I got back, but in the end, it was a blessing in disguise.
You see, it had been a long time since I’d been in Japan.
First of all, my old job would be of no use to me. My memories of living in Japan were so faint that I didn’t even think of contacting the company when I was hospitalized.
I only remembered a handful of my former colleagues, and even then, it was just a vague “Oh yeah, that guy existed” kind of recollection.
My brain, which stores memories, should have been intact, so I should have remembered everything, but for some reason, I had completely forgotten.
So, with some forceful persuasion, I claimed to have amnesia due to my injuries and managed to quit.
My clueless boss tried to convince me to stay and see how things went, but I knew my memories weren’t coming back. I insisted that I didn’t remember anything and couldn’t recall anything, and they finally let me go.
I ended up leaving without handing over my work, but I really couldn’t remember anything, so there was nothing I could do.
Anyway, there are still some complicated procedures left, but I’ve managed to gain my freedom for the time being.
“……Pefu.”
When I chanted the spell “Pefu,” my fingertip was enveloped in a faint light.
“It still works, huh?”
This became clear when I tried to use “Pefu” out of boredom in the hospital room, and my finger lit up as I imagined. It seems I brought all my physical abilities and magic from that world with me.
If I have this much power in Japan, I shouldn’t have any trouble making money. Besides, I seem to have a decent amount of savings, so I might not even need to work.
In any case, I don’t have time to work from morning till night.
“I need to get back there as soon as possible, one day sooner rather than later…”
I don’t know how the flow of time works, so maybe there’s no need to rush. But I can’t help but feel impatient.
Ideally, I want to return before Millie and Shino come to Waslein and greet them with a nonchalant expression.
The only clue I have is that game that was the basis for that world… what was it called again?
Fantasy something… I think that was the title.
I’ve been busy since returning to Japan, which I missed so much, but now that I’ve finally settled down, it’s time to start攻略ing the game.
The hardware and software were quite old, but I was relieved that it started up without any problems.
“Fantasy Legend, huh? What does that even mean?”
First, I selected “New Game” and decided to play through it once.
The content isn’t exactly substantial, but there seem to be a few攻略 websites still around. Since my goal isn’t to enjoy the game, I won’t hesitate to use them.
The game started with the protagonist, Haruto, waking up in his bed.
When he left his room, his mother asked him to run an errand, which required him to talk to everyone in the village.
Most of them were just generic NPCs labeled “Villager,” but some characters had names and face graphics.
Those were Melissa, the blonde twin-tails childhood friend, and the blue-haired…
“……Millie……”
The Millie I know is a real person, so there are differences from the drawing. But it still captures her features well, and there’s no doubt it’s Millie.
And right now, that Millie is talking to Haruto with a cheerful smile on her face.
“Tch, there’s no skip dialogue option, huh?”
As I frantically pressed the button, the story progressed to the point where the three talented childhood friends were going to Desroah Academy in the Royal Capital.
They didn’t have to walk there; they just got on a carriage, and after a fade to black, they arrived in the Royal Capital. Sounds easy enough.
Then they passed the entrance exam and successfully enrolled. And then the classes started right away. These were just scenes to watch, and the player didn’t do anything. How boring.
They went outside the Royal Capital on weekends to hunt monsters to some extent, were shown some classroom scenes, and then it was the weekend again. That seemed to be the only thing to 학園 life.
“Oh, it’s Geld.”
Since he’s a classmate, it’s natural that he’d encounter Geld. He’s a character who seems like an arrogant, idiotic noble.
But Geld sometimes showed a dark expression with a hint of madness, giving off the impression that he might do something crazy.
And as if on cue, an event scene started where Melissa asked for help because Millie was missing after school. They searched the entire academy and suspected the Old School Building, and somehow it became night by the time they entered the Old School Building.
“How convenient… this is what doujinshi are made of.”
It’s been over three hours since she was reported missing. With that much time… well, you know.
But Geld’s goal in kidnapping Millie wasn’t to do anything lewd, but to use her as a sacrifice for some kind of magical ritual.
Geld seemed to have lost his mind and was chanting spells while placing the restrained Millie in the center of a magic circle. The protagonist, Melissa, and Shizura, who had recently become friends, burst in and started a battle with Geld.
“Geld is so weak. How did he even carry Millie to the basement with that strength? And they’re ignoring the fact that they’re killing a classmate.”
Geld is a character who uses debuff magic a lot, but you can ignore that and just spam normal attacks to defeat him. He’s incredibly weak.
Apparently, Geld was like a boss at the end of the tutorial, so his strength was set so that the protagonist could win no matter what.
Perhaps because he was such an insignificant character, there wasn’t much information about Geld. Judging from his lines, you could tell that he had become twisted due to his inferiority complex towards his older brother.
Then another event scene started, and when the protagonist went to the back of the basement, a part of the wall opened like a door, and in the small room beyond, he had a dialogue with the lingering thoughts of Desroah, the founder of the academy. Apparently, that door can only be opened by someone with the qualities of a hero.
“Ugh, cliché.”
Desroah told him about the world’s crisis and gave him a Mysterious Gem as a key to solve it.
Furthermore, Melissa, the twin-tails, was a distant descendant of Desroah, so she received Desroah’s power along with his thoughts.
I think something happened to Millie too, so it’s quite convenient that such a good group of childhood friends gathered together.
After killing Geld and solving the kidnapping case, a horde of monsters immediately attacked Desroah Academy.
After fighting some weak enemies, there was a losing event against a bird boss, followed by a rematch with the boss whose wings were burned by Desroah’s lingering thoughts.
They managed to defeat it and barely repelled the attack, but feeling a sense of crisis, Haruto and his friends set out on a journey to save the world.
After that, I didn’t know what happened, but there wasn’t anything particularly noteworthy.
They went to various parts of the country, completed errand quests to get different colored versions of the Mysterious Gem, or a female character joined their party. That was the only thing that happened.
There were also times when people like Geld lost their minds and caused some kind of incident, but that must have been the main part of the scenario.
“……Shino. She joined in the second half after all.”
Shino, who joined as the eighth member, had an expressionless face graphic, but she was portrayed as if she was happy to be reunited with Haruto. The Shino I know had mostly forgotten about her childhood friends, but this Shino unfortunately seemed to remember them.
“Ah, damn it, I should have gone with them.”
After that, I continued to攻略 the game with frustration, and without any particularly difficult parts, I easily defeated the Final Boss and cleared the game.
The clear time was about twenty-four hours. I was looking at the攻略 website, but it was short enough to finish in a full day.
“……Nothing’s happening.”
Even after clearing the game, I didn’t return to that world or see a ball of light. Just a long ending sequence.
From here on out, I’ll have to search every nook and cranny of the game for clues.
However, no matter how much I played the game, the situation didn’t progress.
