Chapter 315: The True Value of the Bag

Phonia looked around happily, her gaze drifting as she imagined Nil, who wasn’t present, tilting her head in thought. I wasn’t sure how old Nil was, but he could certainly fit the role of a younger brother. Finally, I turned my attention to El, noticing Phonia deep in contemplation.
“Isn’t it fine for El to just remain a maid?”
“A maid dedicated to Phonia, right?”
“If we set her up as a wealthy noble from a country with a random name, it wouldn’t feel out of place even if she spoke unfamiliar words.”
“Hehe, why not just make her a princess instead?”
“Sounds good. Princess Phonia, perhaps?”

As Phonia’s title of princess was mentioned, Ivan’s hearty laughter echoed through the room. It seemed he didn’t fully grasp the joke, as he tilted his head in confusion.
“Indeed, that setup isn’t half bad. I’ll definitely take notes on this.”
Mr. Jinpei appeared surprisingly enthusiastic.
“I’ll get in touch again once we’ve finalized the details.”
“Yes, understood.”
With that, we promised to bring Nil along next time and left the Dragon Corporation to restock supplies before returning to the apartment building.
Now, the next task at hand was to experiment with the Storage Bag. I retrieved a few bags from the Dimensional Box and lined them up on the table. These were sturdy bags I had seen for sale earlier. One was an ordinary bag, another had storage capabilities but couldn’t be accessed, and the last one was a bag that could be properly accessed.
After some time, I had managed to create a functional Storage Bag, but it still had the limitation of only being able to retrieve items up to the size of the bag’s opening. However, I had realized something even more crucial, which led me to conduct this experiment in Japan.
“I can retrieve items from the Dimensional Box without any issues.”
“That’s true. But I do feel like… when I access items, I’m unconsciously using Dimensional Magic as well.”
“I thought so… which means…”
Glancing at the accessible bag, Ivan promptly tossed a cushion he found lying around into it. Even after closing the bag, it remained inflated, clearly indicating that the cushion was inside.

Indeed, the Dimensional Box was a spell that allowed access to a pre-created dimensional space. I had wondered whether it was possible to access a dimensional space created in the Otherworld from Japan, which prompted me to conduct this experiment here.
The results were as I had expected. Although I had granted access to the created dimensional space, I found that I couldn’t access it after arriving in Japan. It seemed that Spatial Magic alone couldn’t transcend dimensions. The original Dimensional Box worked seamlessly in Japan, but I must have been unconsciously applying dimensional attributes while using it.
“Yes, this aligns with what Shuu predicted.”
Rio, who had been investigating while using the Dimensional Box, nodded in agreement. I also discovered another important fact: the dimensional space accessible through the bag was one I had created. This meant that I could freely retrieve items from the Storage Bag without needing to go through the bag’s opening.
It could be quite convenient to exchange items with Ivan from a distance. But more importantly…
“Well then, shall we try it out right away?”
With the dimensional attributes in mind, I applied the access and retrieval Spatial Magic to the bag. I was already accustomed to bestowing Dimensional and Spatial Magic since I had done so when creating the smartphone. Without any significant issues, I completed the enchantment on the bag.
“Done.”
“Alright.”
I handed the bag to Ivan, who immediately began stuffing the cushion into it again. After closing the bag, it flattened to the point where it looked empty.
“Success!”
“Hold on, we need to confirm that we can retrieve it properly.”
“It should be fine.”
Even as he said that, Ivan opened the bag and reached inside, successfully pulling out the cushion. His smug expression only irritated me, so I silently accepted the cushion and stored it in the Dimensional Box I had opened.
“Try taking it out again.”
“Got it.”
Watching the cushion being retrieved from the Dimensional Box, I nodded in satisfaction.
“Next, we need to see if we can retrieve items stored over there from here.”
“Should we ask Mr. Jinpei for help?”

Mr. Jinpei seemed busy, but if we could facilitate the exchange of supplies between here and there, the recipient of this bag would likely be the Yanagihara family.

Ivan mused thoughtfully, crossing his arms, and I exchanged glances with Rio. While we had never placed living beings into the Dimensional Box, I couldn’t help but think that if we did, they might not survive.

“…But if it’s a door connecting two worlds, it might be feasible, right?”

I had previously managed to create a small hole between worlds that allowed smartphone signals to pass through. Since the smartphone I created also utilized Dimensional Magic, it didn’t seem impossible.
With renewed determination, I resolved to figure out where to create a dimensional door in the future.
