Mob Soul Reincarnation – Chapter 134

Chapter 131: Divine Weapon

Having defeated the Giant Centipede, I was now facing the source of the miasma.

“There’s no doubt. To think it would be in a place like this… I never even dreamed of it.”

The source of the miasma. It was a pair of swords. As if they absorbed all light, they were two swords that seemed to lack any sense of depth. Daggers, wide-bladed and heavy-looking. Their curved blades resembled scimitars, perhaps.

This miasma, billowing up so densely, I recognized it. It was like the Demon Sword of Water that had been stored at the academy.

I, who possess comprehensive knowledge of the game, didn’t know that Demon Swords were enshrined in a place like this. These were undoubtedly Demon Swords I didn’t know about.

Just looking at them made my sanity recoil. The curse was that strong.

“Guh!”

Steeling myself, I took the Demon Swords in hand and began to dispel their curse. My hands tingled. Even though I was dispelling the curse, they fought back, trying to curse me in return.

My Sage’s Gift has grown considerably too. It wasn’t instantaneous, but I succeeded in dispelling the curse from the two swords in a fairly short amount of time.

At that moment, I suddenly realized. Ah, my Sage’s Gift has maxed out. Well, I’ve been dispelling curses from items every day, and dispelling curses from Demon Swords twice would do it, I guess.

When I looked down, there was a pair of swords that looked as if they were cut from pure darkness. Judging by the color of the jewels embedded in them, they were probably the Dark Holy Swords.

When I held the Dark Holy Swords in both hands, they felt surprisingly natural. I guess I’ll be the one to use these.

Swinging them a few times to test their feel, I headed back the way I came. By the time I exited the small pyramid, the sun was high in the sky. It would likely be past noon by the time I got back.

Cornelia-tachi might get suspicious. But to ensure I obtained the Holy Swords, I had no other choice.

“Hm?”

However, thinking about it now, who could possibly break through miasma of that concentration?

“Maybe I didn’t need to rush so much…”

Well, now that I’ve obtained the Holy Swords, everything else is trivial.

“I wonder how powerful these Holy Swords that didn’t appear in the game are… First off, a pair of twin swords is rare. I’m excited.”

As far as I know, this is the first time I’ve seen Twin Holy Swords that are a set of two.

“There’s no need to rush anymore, so maybe I’ll do some test swings.”

This body, bathed in dragon’s blood, knows no fatigue. If I run towards the village, I’ll probably encounter a monster or two.

Contrary to my expectations, I made it back to the village without encountering any monsters.

In the lively village, as I walked down the cobblestone main street back to the mansion, Cornelia and Lily were standing there with their arms crossed, like guardian statues. Lily had her usual expressionless face, but Cornelia’s eyebrows were completely arched, and she looked displeased.

“Onii-sama, you’re back early.”
“Onii, where were you?”
“Oh, just out for a walk, a walk.”
“Were you perhaps actually at a brothel?”
“No way. Of course not, right?”

However, both Cornelia and Lily were looking at me as if I were someone suspicious.

“Is that really true?”
“True?”
“It’s true.”

Perhaps they didn’t believe me even when I said so, as Cornelia and Lily started sniffing my clothes.

“It’s not the cloyingly sweet smell of perfume.”
“The smell of the forest?”
“Yeah. I woke up a bit early, so I went for a walk in the forest.”
“What’s that at your hip? It’s pitch black, but… Swords?”
“That’s right. Actually, I found a strange building in the forest, and I found these there.”

I drew the Dark Twin Holy Swords that were tucked into my belt.

“They’re truly pitch black all over… It messes with your sense of perspective. I wouldn’t want to fight someone wielding these swords…”
“Like charcoal…”

As expected of Cornelia. She’s grasped the characteristics of these swords well.

I can see why she’d say charcoal, but… These are Holy Swords I went to great lengths to obtain. Please don’t describe them like that.

“If you look closely, there are round things embedded in them. Could it be that these swords can also use magic…?”
“That’s right! Believe it or not, they can use dark magic!”
“No way, to think there are other swords like mine!”
“Amazing…!”

Both Cornelia and Lily are extremely surprised. And they would be. Magic is something you normally can’t use unless you receive a specific Gift for it.

This means that possessing these Twin Holy Swords, Cornelia’s Holy Sword of Water, or the Jewel of Fire I have equipped is equivalent to having two Gifts. For people in this world who depend on Gifts, it’s bound to be surprising. Even if they can only use one element, most mages in this world can only use one element to begin with.

Moreover, Holy Swords are weapons made by gods, called Divine Weapons. They are the weapons with the highest performance among those that appeared in the game, and basically, they don’t break. They’re so sturdy they don’t even get chipped.

And the greatest feature of Holy Swords is that they have a special damage bonus against the Evil God and its monstrous kin. In particular, only Holy Swords can deliver the finishing blow to the Evil God.

That’s how special Holy Swords are.

In the game, the protagonist obtains three Holy Swords. It’s said there are four more, but they were unobtainable in the game. Holy Swords that couldn’t be obtained in the game—two of them are right here before my eyes.

This is pretty amazing, isn’t it? As a fan of the game, my collector’s spirit felt a definite sense of satisfaction.

I can’t just snatch the Holy Swords the protagonist is supposed to get, but I’d like to obtain the remaining two Holy Swords as well.
