Chapter 12: Servia’s Max Firepower Build
“To think there’s a child in the forest that’s supposed to be off-limits!?”
“…Yes, Brother Cain. The tree spirits told me. It seems a boy is being attacked by a pack of Black Wolves about 400 meters north of here.”
Servia got the information from the tree spirits for me.
As the World Tree Saint, she can communicate with the spirits of plants and trees and receive their blessings.
I acted before I could even think.
“Kya!? Brother Cain!?”
I scooped Servia up in a princess carry and started running. Our destination: the boy’s rescue.
“Sorry for winging it, Servia. When you see the magical beasts, unleash Albidus Fire!”
If we’re up against a pack of magical beasts, Albidus Fire, with its wide-area annihilation power, is more effective than chipping away at them with a sword.
If a boy is being attacked by carnivorous Black Wolves, there’s not a moment to lose.
“Even if you can’t defeat them, just drawing their attention to us will be enough. I’ll handle the rest!”
“Y-yes. Understood. It’ll be my first time doing it for real, but I’ll try!”
Servia nodded, clinging to me.
“Aah, please! Just be careful not to hit the boy with the flames! If you can communicate with the Albidus flower spirits, you should be able to control it!”
“Yes!”
I dashed through the forest like a gale.
My daily running paid off. My stamina and leg strength had definitely improved.
Eventually, I reached an open area, and there, a boy was surrounded by a pack of wolf-type magical beasts.
“Here I go! Albidus Fire!”
The moment Servia held out her hand, a small fireball from Petit Fire shot out. It ignited the flammable gas from the summoned Albidus, and the flames spread explosively.
“Wh-what in the world!?”
The boy, who looked to be about twelve, was frozen in place, his legs giving out.
It was no wonder, seeing as the Black Wolves that had been baring their fangs at him were suddenly engulfed in inferno.
“…Th-this is… More firepower than I expected.”
Servia herself was blinking in surprise.
“Hey, your opponents are over here!”
I charged in and, with one hand, cut down the enemies Servia had missed.
Gyaooooon!?
The Black Wolves were simultaneously splattered with blood and enveloped in jet-black flames. That was the additional dark attribute damage from my Black Moon Sword.
They vanished without even leaving bones behind.
“A-amazing!?”
The boy’s eyes were wide with astonishment.
“Defeating B-rank magical beasts, Black Wolves, with a single blow from one hand… Brother Cain’s swordsmanship is incredible.”
“No, this time it was all Servia’s doing, right?”
I gently lowered Servia to the ground.
Only now did I become aware of the soft feel of Servia’s body, and I got flustered.
“Hauu. If possible, I would have liked Brother Cain to hold me a little longer.”
“Th-that was because it was an emergency…”
Come to think of it, this was the first time I’d ever princess-carried a girl, including in my previous life. And to do it with my absolute favorite heroine, who had descended into reality…
This is bad, I feel like I’m going to die from sheer bliss.
“In that case, emergencies aren’t so bad, are they?”
Servia smiled happily.
“Hey! Wh-who are you guys!? Amazing magic and swords… Are you skilled adventurers!?”
The boy shouted, still sitting on the ground.
“No, we are not adventurers. I am Servia Fernando. A noble.”
“Likewise, I’m Cain Schwarz. The son of the lord of this domain.”
I introduced myself while offering the boy a hand.
“Why did you enter this forest? It’s currently off-limits because dangerous magical beasts are appearing.”
“Cain Schwarz? Ah, the one with the bad reputation…!?”
The boy blinked and took my hand.
A bad reputation, huh…
Up until now, I’d been lashing out at the mansion staff and the domain’s people. This assessment is unavoidable.
I helped the boy to his feet with a wry smile.
Judging by his appearance, he’s probably a drifter.
Because of that, it seems he doesn’t feel the need to fear me excessively.
Well, that’s easier for me too, but…
“Mmph, Brother Cain just saved you, isn’t that way of speaking rude?”
Servia frowned, looking displeased.
“Brother Cain is the coolest, kindest, and best man in this world, you know.”
“Uogh!?”
I was completely astonished.
Isn’t that a bit too much gushing to someone you’ve just met? Th-though I’m happy about it.
