Strongest Physical Oji-san – Chapter 131

Chapter 13: To Oz – 16

The aftermath of the rampaging large Demon had turned the area into a mountain of rubble.

While many were likely evacuated, it seemed that there were still a significant number of casualties and injured individuals.

Soldiers quickly arrived on the scene to begin rescue operations, and since our party included Shizuna, the priestess of this country, we decided to lend our assistance through the power of “Soul’s Guidance.”

I began clearing the debris, utilizing my Strength and the powerful Item Box that could hold anything I tossed into it.

Larni used her keen sense of smell, while Sfenia scanned the area with her eyes to locate victims. I swiftly placed any visible rubble into the Item Box.

As soon as the injured were discovered, Freinir and Shizuna wasted no time in casting healing magic, allowing the rescue efforts to progress at an impressive pace.

Freinir’s healing magic, combined with her “Range Expansion” ability, proved particularly effective. Thanks to her indiscriminate area-wide healing spells cast from above the rubble, a considerable number of people were saved. It could truly be said that she was performing like a Saint.

By the way, Karma and the “Drunken Tiger” team also lent a hand, but during that time, I was told, “Soushi-san, you’re too kind-hearted.”

“But if you have the strength to maintain that kindness, then that’s something remarkable. I don’t dislike that about you,” she added with a smile, indicating that it wasn’t meant as sarcasm.

Mariane had gone to check on the front lines, and it seemed that the battle there had also concluded. In the end, only three spider-type Demons had appeared, but the rampaging large Demon had caused some damage.

As more rescue soldiers arrived, the speed of operations increased significantly, thanks in part to the rock golems summoned by their Spirits. Upon reflection, Spirits were essentially autonomous, tireless humanoid heavy machinery. Their usefulness was undeniable.

Before long, the High Priestess Miona also arrived at the scene.

She surveyed the area and gave instructions to her accompanying priests before coming over to me and bowing her head slightly.

“I have heard of your impressive efforts, Soushi-dono. Please allow us to take over here; you should rest.”

“If I’m in the way, I can step back, but if not, I would like to continue. It is said that the limit for saving lives is not 72 hours, but rather 36 ticks. We must rescue as many as we can by then.”

“Hmm, is that so? Given your performance, it is indeed better for you to continue… Very well, please do your utmost to save as many lives as possible.”

“Understood.”

I thanked her and returned to the task of tossing rubble into the Item Box. Freinir and the others continued their rescue efforts, and for now, they appeared to have enough Stamina.

I felt a bit guilty towards my team, but I hoped they would forgive me for this selfishness as the leader of “Soul’s Guidance.” With victims in front of me and the power to save them, I couldn’t simply stand by.

After working tirelessly, we managed to complete the rescue efforts before dawn. None of the members complained as they continued to work diligently.

As morning broke, we were finally relieved of our duties. When we left the site, the exhausted soldiers and the recovered residents bowed to us in gratitude.

Riding in the carriage prepared by Miona, Freinir and Larni quickly fell asleep. Sfenia and Shizuna also appeared to be half-asleep. Only Mariane, looking as composed as ever, moved to sit beside me.

“I believe your efforts were commendable. The guild will greatly appreciate the contributions of both ‘Soul’s Guidance’ and ‘Drunken Tiger.'”

“I appreciate that. But everyone did exceptionally well. Thank you for putting up with the whims of the leader.”

“Whims? I believe everyone acted because they thought it was necessary. Myself included.”

“I see… You’re right. I am fortunate to have such good members.”

“We feel fortunate to have such a good leader as well. Please have confidence in yourself.”

“Thank you. Let’s take it easy at the inn for today and tomorrow.”

“I think that’s a good idea.”

With that, Mariane rested her head on my shoulder and began to doze off.

Normally, I would have been startled by such an action, but I was grateful that I lacked the energy to feel flustered.

If possible, I would have liked to take a nap myself, but as the leader entrusted with the care of these lovely ladies, I had to endure for now.
