“Skill Aptitude G, and a non-combat Original Skill…”
Frankly, it was far worse than I had imagined.
“There are many people who live happy lives even with low Skill Aptitude, so don’t be discouraged, huff, cough…”
The priest gave me a speech that I couldn’t tell if it was a follow-up or a laugh. What’s with the “huff, cough”?
“No way, that’s impossible, lol. G is just trash. Even if you try your best, you can only get up to Rank E Skills, lol.”
The surrounding adventurers were also laughing cruelly.
“I see! Thank you very much!”
I suppressed my tears, replied, and quickly left.
My dream was to become a Rank S adventurer…
I returned home in a depressed mood.
“Welcome back, Cain. How was the Aptitude Ceremony?”
“I’m sure you got good Skills and Aptitude like us.”
My mother and father both have Skill Aptitude B.
They are generally considered excellent, and they apparently earned a decent living as adventurers during their active years.
Thanks to that, our family was wealthy, but they also wanted me to become an adventurer like them.
Since they are both big spenders, it’s probably so I can support them in their old age.
“…My Skill Aptitude was G. And my Original Skill is ‘Skill Duplication’.”
“Huh!?”
“What is that!?”
Immediately, the two of them showed their emotions on their faces, and began to berate me.
“We went to the trouble of raising you to be so healthy, and now you’re just a waste of money!”
“We shouldn’t have spent money on someone like you.”
“N-no, you don’t have to go that far…”
“With the world’s lowest Skill Aptitude, I don’t even consider you a child.”
“Get out of here now.”
I wasn’t even allowed to argue back, and I was kicked out. People with low Skill Aptitude are now discriminated against. That’s why no matter where you work, your wages are lower than others, and you might not even get an interview.
In order for me to live from now on…
“I have no choice but to become an adventurer.”
As long as you don’t have a criminal record, basically anyone can become an adventurer, and there is no wage discrimination. The salary depends on how you work, but it’s pretty good considering you’re risking your life. However, that’s only for parties that have Skills. They wouldn’t take someone who can barely acquire Skills as a companion.
But I have no choice but to do it.
Having decided what I was going to do, I headed straight for the Adventurer’s Guild.
