Weak Skill Duplicator – Chapter 6

After an 8-hour deathmatch with Goblins, with a break in between, I returned to town with 21 Magic Stones.

“Excuse me. I’d like to report the completion of my request and sell these Magic Stones.”

“Yes. It seems you were able to defeat them properly.”

I received one Silver Coin for the request and an additional Silver Coin and 6 Copper Coins. Not a bad job for the pay.

After having a rare meal out, I returned to the inn and casually checked my status board.

…Huh?
Something’s off.

My level should have gone up after defeating 20 Goblins.
I heard that all stats except Luck increase by an average of 3 per level (though it varies from 1 to 5 depending on the person). Judging by these increases, I probably gain 3 per level.
It’s neither too much nor too little, just average.
However, the increase from skills is far too high.
Why is that?
Looking at the skill section, it says:
Throwing x 16, One-Handed Sword Basics x 21, Body Enhancement x 21.
What is this?
The Throwing Skill is a Rank F skill that can be acquired when dealing damage to an enemy by throwing something. Its effect is to increase Strength by 1 and slightly increase the accuracy when throwing…
I think One-Handed Sword Basics had a similar effect.
If I acquired 16 Throwing Skills, 5 One-Handed Sword Basics, and 21 Body Enhancements, it would explain why my Strength is higher than the others, but normally, you can’t acquire the same skill twice.
Moreover, skills with similar effects are overridden by the higher-ranked skill, so having multiple of the same skill is meaningless.
The exception is Original Skills.
The enhancements from Original Skills stack with other skills of the same type.
So, the fact that I was able to acquire the same skill 21 times and that the + values are so high might be due to “Skill Duplication.”

…Should I test it with skills that are easy to acquire besides Throwing?

I hurried to the Adventurer’s Guild.

“Excuse me, do you have any books about skills?”

“Oh, Cain-san. That’s unusual, seeing you here at this hour. Are you looking for the Skill Compendium? Please wait a moment. I’ll bring it to you.”

After a while, the lady brought a thick book.
As a commoner, I don’t usually read books this big.
Apparently, it contains the effects and acquisition methods for skills up to Rank C.

“The books with Rank B skills are expensive… we don’t keep them here. Rank A skill books are monopolized by the nobles… there’s even a rumor that there are Rank S skill books in the treasury.”

I’m interested, but with my Skill Aptitude of G, I can barely manage Rank E skills. This book should be enough.

I closed the heavy book and returned it to the Guild.
Suppressing my excitement for tomorrow, I returned to the inn.
