“Well, Cain-san, you’re a Mid-Rank Adventurer now. That’s quite fast, you know. Even after registering, most people are hesitant to take on subjugation quests, so surprisingly, their adventurer rank doesn’t go up very quickly.”
“Is that so? I was under the impression that I was slow.”
“You’re plenty fast. Only a few people reach this point so quickly each year. More importantly, now that you’re a Mid-Rank Adventurer and have saved up some money, how about getting your own weapons?”
Come to think of it… I have the money, but I’m still relying on the Guild’s loaner equipment. It’s about time I got my own.
“I’ll think about it,” I said.
With that, I left the Adventurer’s Guild and headed back to the Inn.
On the way back, I saw a severely injured adventurer party being carried towards the Guild. Something big might have appeared.
Even though I’ve become a Mid-Rank Adventurer, I still probably can’t win one-on-one against a Rank C Monster.
To strengthen myself even a little, I clutched the saved-up Silver Coins and entered the Blacksmith.

The shopkeeper was thin and looked young. In his twenties, or maybe even his teens.

This armor appears to be made of steel. Not many Rank D Adventurers, or even Rank C Adventurers, would have this kind of equipment.
But more than that, the shield is strange.
The shield has Magic Ore attached to it, which can grant Enchant Effects, and even a layman can tell it has considerable magical power. Even a Rank B Adventurer would want something like this.
Even if it’s used, the two together would cost close to 15 Gold Coins (1500 Silver Coins).
The shopkeeper hesitated for a moment, then quickly replied with a smile.
“Actually, this is… a ‘cursed’ weapon…”
“…Huh?”
