“So far, that’s been an explanation of the irrational (fantasy) phenomena we’ve been able to observe!”
Asahi then smoothly put on the round glasses she took out of her skirt pocket.
“Next, I’ll present the results of the experiment conducted in Telek Port City!”
“Oh, how cute.”
“Thank you, Onee-sama!! <Ringo> made them for me!”
And what she displayed was the background to the experiment.
“Now, we’ve recorded several instances of Magic Warriors practicing this Fireball magic.
As a result, we’ve confirmed that the Fireball phenomenon changes depending on the person using the Fireball, whom we’ll refer to as the caster here.
Specifically, this is it.
First, the power of the Fireball. The amount of heat generated, the difference in temperature.
Second, the speed of the Fireball. The speed from when it’s generated in the hand until it hits the target.
Third, how the Fireball bursts. The range of the burst, the number of sparks scattered, the speed.
All of these differ from individual to individual, and no commonalities were found.”
The number of subjects was five.
The number of trials was 100 for each.
No significant difference was observed in the Fireballs cast by the same individual, and the differences were within the range of error due to statistics, ambient temperature, humidity, and other factors.
However, when comparing between individual subjects, nothing that could be judged as the same was observed.
“Therefore, the question arose as to whether these Fireballs are even the same magic in the first place.
Are we just calling them Fireballs, when in fact they are different magic?
In the first place, does magic with the same name produce the same phenomenon?”
“You made them cast it 100 times each?”
“Onee-sama, I didn’t force them! They said they train regularly, so I just asked to observe!”
“If you say so…?”
“Yes! So, I conducted a survey to ask who they learned the Fireball from and how they acquired it!”
“Would they even tell you that…?”
“Yes! Everyone was happy to tell me!”
Asahi answered with a beaming smile.
<Ringo> shook her head.
“<Paraiso> ordered them to disclose information as long as it doesn’t involve their lives.”
“So you forced them to tell you.”
“That’s not true!!”
Commander (Eve) sighed at the confident Asahi and urged her to continue.
“Yes!
So, the results of the survey are!
Basically, they were taught the effects, power, and image of the Fireball by a magic master.
They were taught skills such as gradually launching and bursting the Fireball, starting with training to light a Fire using magic!
After that, once they could do it, they would repeat the practice on their own.
They would create, launch, and burst the Fire as they imagined.
That’s the kind of training they did.”
In other words, a uniform effect doesn’t occur by chanting some kind of spell, but rather it can be acquired through steady training.
“I’m sorry to say that how much individual aptitude is involved is currently unknown.
Even with the same amount of practice, some people improve quickly, while others don’t improve at all, and it’s unclear whether this is due to a sense for it or external factors.
However, I predict that it’s highly likely that it’s influenced by individual sense or innate aptitude!
Children with wizard parents are more likely to become wizards, and those who are familiar with it from childhood learn faster and become more powerful.”
Asahi displays the results of the survey.
In the end, it seems that those who train from a young age are more talented, and it’s quite difficult to start as an adult.
Also, those who are taught by a master improve faster than those who are self-taught, and uniform phenomena are more likely to occur.
“Therefore, I’ve hypothesized that what’s necessary for magic is a clear image!”
Asahi predicted the magical phenomenon based on her own unique view of magic.
She has confirmed the existence of the concept of internal Magical Power. The number of Fireballs that can be fired in a day is almost constant, and the upper limit differs from individual to individual.
Her prediction is that magic only manifests when the amount of internal Magical Power, the image of generating a Fireball, and the will to generate a Fireball are all present.
“There’s no way to measure Magical Power yet, but according to the Magic Warriors, they feel tired when their Magical Power decreases.
The fact that they feel tired means that some kind of change is occurring within their bodies, so we’re continuously verifying whether we can capture any phenomena with a vital monitor!”
“Verifying? What are you making them do?”
“Ma’am. It seems that she has been having them repeat the process of firing Fireballs until they can’t anymore in training, and monitoring the situation in detail for the past few days.”
Apparently, the five Magic Warriors have been accompanying Asahi all along.
“…Okay, but are you compensating them?”
“Yes! Of course, Onee-sama! With the best smile of this strongest beautiful girl, Asahi- Ouch!!”
Perhaps she got carried away, Asahi was slapped by <Ringo>.
“Since you’re not doing it, I’m increasing their daily allowance and giving them priority distribution of luxury goods such as food and alcohol. We have a friendly relationship so far, but try not to push them too hard.”
“Asahi, keep it within limits.”
“…Y-yes, Onee-sama. It’s okay, I strictly adhere to an 8-hour workday!!”
“Making them work 8 hours is demonic!”
“Ma’am, it’s okay. Accompanying Asahi only takes about 2 hours of that time, and the rest is routine work. They are valuable samples, so I am monitoring them to ensure that they are not wasted. Please rest assured.”
“O-okay…”
After such a humane (heartful) conversation.
Asahi displayed further experimental results.
“So, in order to verify the construction of magic through images, I divided them into Group A and Group B.
Group A continued with the same training as before.
Group B was given image videos prepared here and lectures on the theory, while also practicing.
We continued this for about two weeks each.”
As a result.
“We were able to obtain a significant result that the Fireball magic used by Group B had less variation between individuals!!”
In particular, by repeatedly showing them the same and ideal explosion video every day for the phenomenon of exploding after hitting the target, they were able to consistently produce the same results.
If the construction of magic depends on images, then providing videos that can be checked in detail by slow playback would certainly contribute greatly to creating images.
“Furthermore, the number of Fireballs that Group B could fire in a day also showed a significant increase.
Assuming that internal Magical Power decreases by firing Fireballs, it can be assumed that the amount of Magical Power consumed per Fireball has decreased!
This is thought to be because the amount of Magical Power consumption was reduced as the image became clearer!”
“Hmm. Well, I can understand that. But still, it’s just a hypothesis, right?”
“Yes, Onee-sama! It’s just a hypothesis, and it’s just that phenomena that can be explained by the hypothesis have been confirmed! We need more samples to be able to say that the hypothesis is likely not wrong!”
The number of samples, that is, the number of magic users.
Telek Port City had secured five Magic Warriors as combatants. Currently, Telek Port City is a very safe and stable city thanks to the activities of <Paraiso>.
Therefore, the combatants are only needed for the minimum amount of security maintenance, so they were able to accompany Asahi in her experiments. In fact, they seem to be happy to have a role to play.
Asahi likes to talk, so she has built a reasonably good relationship with them.
They also seem to be grateful to Asahi for being able to accurately explain the phenomenon of the magic they use.
“Speaking of samples, can we use that super strong knight or the Adventurers in North End City?”
“Yes, Onee-sama! I would definitely like to observe magic other than Fireball! Especially those that improve physical abilities!
We are also analyzing the Threat Creatures as much as possible, but there are still many things we don’t understand!”
Asahi is excited about the explanation of Fireball, but it seems that she is also researching Threat Creatures in parallel.
