Episode 343: Interlude (Mythology)
It’s short, but it’s the last update of the year.
“Let us gather. And let us build a strong, great city.”
Long ago, people spoke thus, and they actually gathered there, and it became a village, then a town, and then a city.
“We need to protect ourselves. Let us surround this city with a Great Wall.”
The people crumbled mountains, solidified them, and piled up walls.
The walls grew thick and high, eventually enclosing the entire city.
“We have become many. Let us kindle Fire and illuminate the night. Then, we need not fear the darkness.”
The people took Fire from the mountains. They solidified the Fire they took and made it into lights to illuminate the city.
The lights made the city even larger, and many people entered the city.
The city became a country, and it dominated many.
“We have become strong and great. Let us rule this land. We shall govern this land as gods.”
The people hunted the dragons of the sky, killed the giant beasts of the land, and expanded the country.
“Let us obtain the Fire beneath the earth. Using this, we shall rule other lands as well.”
The people became arrogant and haughty, eventually plotting to control the earth itself.
And the earth was angered, and finally decided to scatter the people.
The ground split, and Fire overflowed.
It swallowed the city in an instant. The Great Wall was melted by the Fire, and everything sank beneath the Fire.
The Wrath of the Land swallowed everything, and eventually reached the sea.
The sea calmed the Wrath of the Land and closed the split earth.

“An interesting document.”
“Well, it’s a myth. It doesn’t exist in our country, but in some of the northern countries, this is recorded as the Genesis of their scripture. Similar myths are passed down in different regions, so I suspect this is actually a historical fact.”
“Fire that covered the earth… you mean lava?”
“That’s a possibility. After all, isn’t the Afrasia United Kingdom covered in lava? It’s possible that a past great eruption is being passed down as a myth.”
