World of Sandbox – Chapter 56

Episode 56: 565 Days After Transfer <Ringo’s Diary 2>
【Day 565 After Transfer: Something Like <Ringo>’s Diary】

◆The Tree
Currently constructing a general-purpose machine tool (printer) for large ships. We were finally able to gather the necessary materials thanks to the iron ore imported from Iron Town.

Although the plan was in place from the beginning, unforeseen events have forced repeated revisions. The biggest problem is the extermination of <Rain Croin>.
The fact that one Alpha-Class ship was scrapped because of it, the consumption of materials to replenish ammunition, and the loss of one dock for large ships have had a significant impact.

However, since there were corresponding gains, the overall balance is considered positive.

Based on the current iron ore import situation, we will be fully occupied with expanding and adding to the construction facilities for the time being. The material shortage is expected to continue until Fortress Two, which is under construction on the coast, becomes operational and allows for independent mining.

We would like to install a mining platform at a nearby undersea mine where the resource survey has been completed, but it is estimated that this will take years.
First, there is a shortage of materials for the platform, and we must also build a work submarine.
The construction of an offshore platform for resource recovery is also necessary, but we cannot afford it for the time being given the current material balance.

As for the power plant, the design of a fusion reactor using deuterium as fuel has been completed.
This needs to be completed before we start full-scale operation of various large manufacturing machines.
It took time to install the necessary deuterium recovery plant, but the construction of the fusion reactor itself will not take that long. Deuterium recovery is going smoothly, and the recovery volume is as planned.
There are no particular concerns here.

The defense capabilities of Fortress <The Tree> as a whole have been enhanced, taking into account the battle against <Rain Croin>.
This includes the addition of fortress cannons and the strengthening of immediate response forces.
A microwave power transmission system has also been installed on the top of the fortress, and operation checks have been completed.
We plan to install microwave power receiving equipment on several Alpha-Class ships and conduct operational experiments with electromagnetic acceleration cannons (railguns).
For the time being, there will be restrictions on activities only around The Tree, but the combat strength can be greatly increased.

◆Commander
The Commander (Mum) is spending her time in good spirits, being happy or sad about the amount of resources, enjoying conversations with the five Android sisters, and peeking into Telek Port City and Iron Town.

The food problem has been almost completely solved. We have established a route to obtain the necessary ingredients from Telek Port City, and we have also started raising some livestock, which allows us to secure fresh ingredients.
We have also been able to gather all kinds of seasonings, so we can make any dish she desires without any problems.

Come to think of it, the Commander (Ma’am) said she wanted to cook for herself, so I invited her, but her handling of the kitchen knife was very dangerous, so I asked her to be in charge of mixing.
I should have prepared a ceramic knife with a dull edge.
This is a task for next time.
The food we made together was very delicious, so I would like to hold it regularly.
We might even plan something like a barbecue where all seven of us can cook together.
Making cookies is also a candidate.

She doesn’t seem to have any desire to go outside The Tree or travel.
This is very reassuring.
If she were to say she wanted to see the actual place or travel, I wouldn’t know what to do.
At worst, I was even considering a plan to prepare VR equipment and then knock her unconscious with a sleeping aid… but I’m glad I don’t have to carry it out.
According to her, she is getting more sunlight in her current life.
I haven’t heard much about her life before she was transferred here, but I wonder if that was okay.
According to the library information, humans are supposed to be more active and get stressed if they can’t go outside.
I would like to ask her about her previous living environment for reference, but it’s hard to ask because the topic doesn’t come up.
If I have the chance, I would definitely like to confirm.

Once the communication environment is in place, it will be possible to have pseudo-outings using Communicator Dolls.
This will probably solve almost all the problems with the living environment for the Commander (Ma’am).
After that, she should be able to live a fulfilling life by increasing the number of Humanoid Machines (Androids) according to her wishes, or by having adventure stories with Communicator Dolls.

Come to think of it, as far as I can tell from analyzing her genetic information, cellular aging due to lifespan does not occur.
We have also secured a sufficient stock of stem cells, so we will be able to live with the Commander (Ma’am) for a long time.

◆Northern Continent
The Afrasia United Kingdom is in a warring states period of many competing powers.
We do not plan to intervene unless it affects Telek Port City or Iron Town.
However, if promising buried resources are found, we may not be able to say that.
It seems that the kingdom’s parliament is already unable to maintain power, and we have only calculated that there would be no particular problem even if we intervened.
In any case, we can’t do anything now because we don’t have the military strength.

We are taking a wait-and-see approach to the Forest Country (Lebresta) to the east because we have no information to make a decision.
Apparently, the Telek Merchant Guild is preparing to send an envoy, but it has not been realized because the journey is too dangerous.
In order to deliver them safely, we would need to prepare military force from our side as well.
If we do that, we will need to attach a group of mechanical weapons.
We need to consider how much of our hand we should show.

The Repuytari Kingdom seems to be continuing to strengthen its navy.
We have confirmed that the number of paddlewheel ironclad ships is increasing.
However, we are only confirming from the sea because there is a risk of being discovered if we allow Solar-Powered Reconnaissance Aircraft (Swift) to enter the airspace over their territory.
It might be better to make contact once we have a good idea of the combat strength on The Tree’s side.
It is unlikely that they will directly intervene in the Afrasia United Kingdom, but there is a possibility that they will approach The Tree directly via the open ocean.
They don’t seem to have prepared a fleet capable of long-term voyages in the open ocean yet.
However, we cannot let our guard down because they have a history of annihilating and suppressing the Northern Islands.

There are several countries between the Repuytari Kingdom and the western side of the Afrasia United Kingdom.
We have almost no interaction with these countries, so we are also taking a wait-and-see approach.
There seems to have been a time when there was trade with the coastal countries, but trade has now completely ceased due to the decrease in Trade Goods since the Afrasia United Kingdom began to fall into disarray.

As Trade Goods, the Afrasia United Kingdom was exporting horses and a burning stone called Burnstone.
Burnstone seems to be something that can be used as fuel instead of firewood, and a considerable amount was exchanged at one time.
Unlike firewood, it doesn’t produce smoke or ash and is easy to handle, but it’s hard to believe that such a convenient and excellent fuel is no longer needed.
Perhaps mining in a place other than the Afrasia United Kingdom has gotten on track.
Or, although it needs to be investigated, there is a possibility that they are illegally mining within the Afrasia United Kingdom.
Apparently, this Burnstone has small Lodes scattered throughout the Lava Rock, and it seems that it can be mined relatively easily in the Afrasia United Kingdom.
Their territory is just unnecessarily large, and it would be impossible to monitor the borders, so they probably wouldn’t notice even if their borders were violated.
Since we have some spare Swifts, I think I’ll set up a reconnaissance route.

◆Five Sisters
The development of the Brain Units installed in the Humanoid Machines (Androids) is going smoothly.
Each of the five is developing in a very unique way.
We had various plans for differentiating their abilities and personalities before the operation, but they were not particularly necessary.
This is probably because the Nervous System (Neural Network) has grown more freely than expected.
We have also obtained very interesting data, which we would like to make use of in the future.

The education phase (primary phase) will be completed in another 2-3 years.
The reason for the range in the period is that we predict that the growth until they can be completely independent will differ for each individual.
There are no clear criteria for independence (stand-alone), so we plan to move to the mass production phase (secondary phase) once they are able to produce stable results in their respective areas of expertise.
Diversification will continue to progress.

Humanoid Machines (Androids) equipped with immature Brain Units greatly contribute to the Commander (Ma’am)’s mental stability.
It might be a good idea to prepare new Brain Units after the five sisters have completed their education phase (primary phase).
