Wounded Paladin – Chapter 100

Episode 8: The Self-Proclaimed Charismatic Strategist (Part 4)

Even Ryuguin understood that the previous exploration of the Labyrinth of Time had ended in failure, leading to a somewhat precarious situation. In reality, it was his own actions that were tightening the noose around his neck, but the foolish man remained blissfully unaware.

Thus, he yearned desperately for a divine intervention that could turn the tide in an instant.

The timing of Ryuguin’s question and Mika’s response was just right for such a moment.

After hearing about the Affirmative Sword and the Sealed Domain from Mika, Ryuguin—stroking his chin in contemplation—was struck by a vision, as if a light bulb had flickered to life in his mind, revealing a special, super, deluxe plan.

In that instant, Ryuguin’s spirits soared to new heights, and he was enveloped in an overwhelming sense of omnipotence.

Genius! Genius! Genius!

Indeed, the word “genius” was the most fitting descriptor for himself at that moment.

A plan that would kill three birds with one stone! He saw himself as the modern-day genius strategist, akin to Zhuge Liang, who had descended into this otherworldly realm.

“Mika, Ange, I shall bestow upon you a marvelous strategy!”

With grandiose flair, he spoke with fervor, gesturing dramatically as he outlined their next steps.

“We should claim the Affirmative Sword for ourselves. It will be used by Eris. I’ve seen her defeat the Dragonbone Swordsman. If we can just secure the sword, conquering the Labyrinth of Time will be all but assured.”

The two nodded solemnly, as if they were deeply moved by his words.

“Heh, what do you think? We will acquire the necessary sword for our strength, and the Labyrinth of Time will be conquered.”

They were eager to express their admiration, but Ryuguin interrupted them, not allowing their excitement to fully manifest.

“Now, hold on. It’s understandable if you two don’t grasp the full picture, but there’s more to this discussion.”

Ryuguin took a moment to assert his superiority before continuing with his nonsensical ramblings.

“Let’s consider this from another angle. Wouldn’t it be better if the Hero Party resolved the Sealed Domain as well? What do you think would happen then? Can you not see it? Think carefully! All three situations would be resolved!”

At this point, the two finally unleashed the admiration they had been holding back.

“Truly, Hero-sama! It was like watching a chess champion execute a checkmate!”
“That’s incredible! To think of a plan that resolves three issues at once!”

Feeling pleased with himself, Ryuguin pretended to ponder.

“Hmm, yes. In terms of priority, perhaps we should focus on the Sealed Domain first. Therefore—!!”

With the exaggerated flair of a young actor from a poorly produced late-night show, he raised his voice dramatically.

“—Let us prioritize conquering the Sealed Labyrinth!” he declared with a flourish.

But the conversation was far from over. Unfortunately, the wild ideas continued.

“Mika! Ange! As soon as Eris awakens, go retrieve the Affirmative Sword! Feel free to use a little force against anyone who tries to interfere!”

The two responded with an enthusiastic, “Yes, sir!!”

“And once you have the Affirmative Sword, head straight to the Sealed Labyrinth!”

“Yes, sir!!”

“I have the duty of overseeing the Labyrinth of Time here! You three will tackle the Sealed Labyrinth!”

“…”

“…”

Even Mika and Angelica were momentarily at a loss for words, struggling to comprehend what they had just been told.

“…”

“…”

Mika and Angelica exchanged bewildered glances.

“…”

“…”

Finally, Mika hesitantly asked Ryuguin, “Um, Hero-sama, won’t you be joining us?”

Her question was entirely reasonable. What did it mean to oversee a labyrinth? The world would call that laziness or negligence. Yet, in the end, Ryuguin’s opinion remained unchanged. He was unaware that this irresponsible decision would soon plunge him into a hell of his own making.

This concludes Ryuguin’s tale.
