Wounded Paladin – Chapter 114

Chapter 1: Pulmy En Dynast ①

Pulmy En Dynast.
Initially, Ichiro Yamada referred to her as the “Elf Guild Master” in his heart, and she was the person who had helped him the most when he first challenged the Newly Constructed Ultimate Labyrinth.

She was also the guardian of the woman known today as the Sage, Angelica Honest.

Since Angelica had been recognized as a Sage, the focus had often been on her achievements in nurturing Angelica’s talent. However, Pulmy herself was an exceptional Mage, and her name was well-known among anyone who had dabbled in magic, to the extent that there was no one who didn’t recognize the name Pulmy En Dynast.

Her prowess earned her the position of Master of the Seeker Guild located in Green Eyes, a town situated between the Mirror Labyrinth, the closest labyrinth to the Royal Capital, and the Light Labyrinth, which was relatively nearby.

Green Eyes served as a defensive stronghold for the Royal Capital, prepared for the unlikely event of a stampede from the two treacherous labyrinths. In other words, Pulmy was one of the key figures in that town, which was deemed crucial for the defense of the Royal Capital.

Pulmy En Dynast reminisced about those noisy yet blissful days.

It was a story from the past.
Pulmy had taken in a young girl.
The tale traces back to the girl’s circumstances.

The girl was born into a prestigious magic family.
Possessing an enormous amount of mana from birth, her crimson hair, reminiscent of the first generation that founded her clan, led many to believe she was the reincarnation of that ancestor, and she bore the weight of her family’s expectations.

However, when it was discovered that the girl could only wield Basic Magic, she was branded as incompetent by her parents and the entire clan, ultimately being cast out from her home.

Having long been rumored to be a prodigy, Pulmy was shocked when she received the news that the red-haired girl had been expelled, especially after having taken a personal interest in her since she was ten years old.

It was unbelievable.
Her mana lines were already comparable to those of adults deemed exceptional at that age, and her mana capacity was beyond comparison.
But more than anything—

When Pulmy sent her subordinates to search for the girl, they quickly located her. The girl was working as a live-in employee at an eatery in a town far from the Royal Capital. It was easy to imagine how difficult life must have been for her, once a noble, now reduced to such circumstances at her tender age.

After several sleepless nights fulfilling her duties, Pulmy immediately set out to find the girl.
What she saw upon arrival was a girl clad in tattered clothing, tirelessly working from dawn until dusk.
It seemed she was provided enough food, as she was not emaciated. Yet, the fatigue that radiated from her was undeniable. Pulmy initially visited the eatery as just another customer, but the expression on the girl’s face was one that no child barely over ten should have had.

The girl likely wouldn’t remember.
She probably didn’t recall the moment their eyes met that day. After all, Pulmy had been wearing a hood, and it had been years ago.

However, even if the girl didn’t remember, Pulmy would never forget.
The intense and intricate mana lines coursing through the girl’s body, a testament to her relentless training. More than that, the blazing fire of absolute will that surged in her eyes, undeterred by her exhaustion.

─────────
This is the story of the Elf Guild Master.
It feels like a turning point.
It’s a bit lengthy.

Thank you to born_at_daybreak and Akito Fuda for the gifts!
Also, thanks again to richbro and bombcantona for their gifts!
I plan to express my gratitude in an activity report at an appropriate time.
I’m considering making Angelica’s past story, which was deemed “poorly paced” and inaccessible to supporters, available to read. It’s not confirmed yet, though…
