Chapter 9: vs Guardian of the Third Layer of the Sealed Labyrinth ①
It felt like I was tracing back to the past.
As I opened the heavy door to the boss room, there stood a female angelic monster enveloped in dazzling light.
With a graceful smile, she spread her pure white wings wide.
Is this the boss of the Light Labyrinth?
But something about her wings seems… no, they’re quite different…
“Sensei! I’ve fought her before!”
I quickly conveyed my knowledge in a straightforward manner.
“I can touch her, but she nullifies physical attacks. Light Attribute attacks are completely ineffective against her!”
It’s not just her defenses—what’s truly terrifying is her storm-like offensive capabilities.
“In close combat, she’s a master of hand-to-hand combat, and in ranged combat, she fires countless high-penetration feathers that can easily break through Mika’s Barrier!”
This was everything I knew—
“Hmm. I understand the details. You all can relax and enjoy some snacks as if you’re on a grand ship. Just leave everything to me.”
Sensei smiled confidently.
Whoa! This is amazing!
So reliable!
Sensei is so cool! We got this!
“ᛟ (Osel)”
Following Sensei’s command, a pitch-black hole opened in the air. She reached inside and pulled out something. It was the dagger I had seen earlier.
“This is one of my favorites.”
I didn’t know exactly what made it special, but it looked impressive.
“Let’s go.”
With a calm stride, Sensei advanced—her divine presence radiated an aura of light.
The opposing angelic figure seemed to underestimate Sensei, or perhaps it was just her nature, as she waited for Sensei to enter her territory.
“As the wielder of this weapon, I shall reveal the future that awaits you, monster—”
As Sensei spoke, she traced a symbol in the air with the dagger, leaving behind a trail of light.
The angelic figure became alert, but it was already too late!!
“Legacy of the Light Dragon (Osel Shift Fish)!”
Sensei’s powerful voice rang out.
At that moment, a blinding Light Dragon burst forth from the symbol she had drawn, opening its massive jaws to unleash its sharp, enormous fangs upon the angelic figure, aiming to shatter her delicate form.
The Legacy of the Light Dragon (Osel Shift Fish)—this was the technique Sensei had used earlier to disperse the Fog.
The rune symbolizing “heritage,” “inheritance,” and “rebirth,” ᛟ (Osel)—by rotating it 90 degrees clockwise, Sensei gave the usual shape of ᛟ (Osel) the meaning of “fish.”
Under its original intent, the explosively growing fish was reborn as a dragon, devouring the angelic figure with the ferocity of a lawnmower—
“See? I told you, Sensei!! You idiot!!”
The Light Attribute was nullified—the Light Dragon unleashed by Sensei slipped right through the angelic figure, vanishing with a sorrowful roar of “Gugyaaaahhh!” Namu.
“What… what?!”
“Stop saying ‘What… what?!’! Why are you acting all cool?! I told you it was ineffective against Light Attribute! How could you unleash a Light Attribute attack right after I said that?! What are you doing?!”
“That was… um, just a warm-up.”
I swallowed my retort of “What do you mean by that?!” While Sensei and I were engaged in our foolish banter, the angelic figure spread her arms wide—striking a pose reminiscent of a sushi feast. Her radiant form illuminated the space, and her mechanical wings—those wings!!—spread out with a metallic clanking sound—wait, are those mechanical?!
The mechanical wings split into twelve parts from the angelic figure’s back. They moved with incredible agility and precision, darting through the air like some remote-controlled weapon, bombarding Sensei with beams from all directions!
“Byaaahhhhhh!!”
Sensei’s scream echoed.
I knew it.
The angelic figure I faced now was stronger than the one I fought before.
While the wings of the previous angel resembled pure white bird-like feathers, the wings before me now looked like something out of a super robot anime, akin to a protagonist’s upgraded machine appearing in the latter half of the story.
In other words, this was no ordinary angel; she was an Angel Alter.
This is bad!! The world is breaking apart!!
That aside, countless beams exploded around Sensei, creating clouds of smoke. Yet, the Angel Alter showed no signs of letting up, frantically controlling her mechanical wings to unleash even more beams upon Sensei.
This is bad! This is bad!
The barrage of beams was so intense that even a bullet hell game would pale in comparison. I had to close my eyes against the blast. I couldn’t get close!
Even the previous wings had pierced through Mika’s Barrier. If those beams hit… I felt a chill run down my spine.
But still, before Sensei’s Barrier could be broken, I steeled myself to rush in and help her when—
“ᛁ (Isa)”
Sensei’s solemn voice resonated.
At the same time, the character for ᛁ glowed dully in the air.
