Wounded Paladin – Chapter 273

Chapter 2: Days Before The Catastrophe②

The Cold and Calculating Elf, Pulmy En Dynast, returned to her base of operations in Green Eyes, tirelessly working on the aftermath of the incident. From the very day she returned to the town, Pulmy had been immersed in her work, day and night, at a super express pace. All of this was in preparation for the upcoming festival in their town.

Finally, after reaching a significant milestone, Pulmy leaned back in her chair, raised her arms, stretched widely, and let out a sigh of relief.

“Finally… it’s done!”

At last, a moment of respite… It had been a long time coming. Should I open a bottle of wine? Maybe pair it with some cheese and dried meat? But being alone feels a bit lonely… Should I call Angelica?

Lost in her thoughts, the Communication Orb suddenly lit up and emitted a series of beeping sounds.

“At this hour…?”

It was probably the Old Man (Chancellor) again. If he makes some unreasonable request, I’ll just turn him down. I’ve always obliged him, yet instead of gratitude, he treated me like a madwoman. I remember well the last time I confided in him.

However, the message was from Yamada, Omi, and Anon, who were in Bordaf.

“O-Omi!? And Ichiro-kun!?”

“I’m here too!”

Flustered by the sudden communication, Pulmy nervously adjusted her hair, even though she knew her image wouldn’t be visible on the other side.

Pulmy had also been summoned by the kingdom, and it seemed that Yamada would be participating as well.

“Of course. You are the one who should rightfully receive the honor… But the fact that you contacted me with that group means you’re not just here to report, right?”

Ichiro, on the other side, seemed to say something in response to Pulmy’s keen insight, causing a faint blush to appear on her cheeks.

“No, it’s nothing that grand.”

She replied coolly, but she wasn’t entirely displeased. At that moment, Omi thought, “I bet he’s perked up his ears right about now,” and she was absolutely correct.

“Ichiro-kun, I want to hear your story. Please share it here. And Omi, Anon, if you have any additional insights, feel free to chime in.”

With her words as a cue, Yamada began to speak—his main topic was laid bare. After everything was shared, he asked for their strength and wisdom.

“I’ll help. That goes without saying.”

She nodded before even thinking it over. This was only natural. When she had shared that absurd story about having two memories, he had listened seriously and believed her.

And above all—he had saved her life from the Three-Headed Dragon without regard for his own safety.

“First, we should call Angelica.”

Pulmy’s first suggestion was just that. Her daughter, Angelica, was known in the town as a wise person. Creating the lightning magic used in the battle against the Three-Headed Dragon would require immense knowledge. In unprecedented situations like this, the more wise minds involved, the better.

However—

“Speaking of which, um, Ichiro-kun, you and Angelica…”

She had almost forgotten. It was a sensitive and awkward topic, but considering the future, there was no choice but to ask.

Despite the awkwardness, that day, Pulmy and the others engaged in discussions to help him. During this time, an idea struck Pulmy. If she could acquire an item with abilities similar to his, it would undoubtedly aid him.

Tomorrow, she would head to Bordaf with Angelica, utilizing the shortcut, Crane’s Guidance. She wanted to give him this item and, more importantly, have a face-to-face discussion with a larger group to refine their strategy.

Above all, Angelica would likely want to see him… and so would I.

When I received the report that he was on the brink of death, I was beside myself with worry. Therefore, I must meet him directly, convey my gratitude to the revitalized Ichiro.
